My daughter took me and two friends for afternoon tea, today, for my birthday. I’ve always wanted to go so it was the perfect opportunity. It was booked weeks ago but she got an email last Friday saying the booking was cancelled. When she called them it turned out that they had moved us to another area and sent the wrong email. We arrived and were shown to our table which was only laid out for 3 people so they eventually moved us to another. We ordered fizz and an orange juice and the fizz arrived quite quickly but the orange juice took 15 minutes and we had to ask where it was. The food was very good and really tasty but when we finished nobody cleared the plates and cake stands and we had to ask to pay as we sat for ages after getting the bill. It was very overpriced, for what we had, and they had the cheek to add 13.5% service charge. As the service was so bad we only paid part of that. I won’t be going back as it’s certainly doesn’t live up to expectations nor does what you get justify the cost. Sadly, very disappointed.

We were given the 7 course English menu deal as a wedding gift. We booked a nights stay and dinner in the Thai restaurant and breakfast to go with it for a full weekend break. Contrary to some other reviews, we absolutely loved our stay and the food at this wonderful place. Yes it’s very expensive but I think people are missing the point. It’s the whole experience you are paying for. It’s such an unusual place and really wow’s you when you walk in. The decor is highly unusual and the atmosphere is great. The staff are very nice and the food is delicious in both restaurants. The breakfast was also delicious. Our room was plenty big enough and we enjoyed every second of our time here. We would definitely book again.

Went for Dinner. Food was ok. That was it. Just ok. Not fabulous but not poor. Vastly overpriced for what it was. Chef needs to go back to catering college and learn what a cheesecake is, because the desert we ordered certainly wasn't what we got. Staff were friendly enough though. Wouldn't break my neck to go back

This place has real atmosphere, the food at lunch from the bar and in the thai restaurant for our evening meal was delicious and the service was impecable. However for the cost the decor is really tired, and the rooms have a very grubby cramped feel which you certainly dont get from the advertising photos. I'd say if you have money to burn then this is a great experience and one we certainly dont regret but if your looking for value for what you pay you could get a hell of a lot more elsewhere for the same cost!

Firstly the bedroom suites are located in the small loft space. Our suite was down the road in a house not even in the main venue. No tea or coffee facilities or mini fridge in the room. Air conditioning was very basic The small bed was creaking and the thin mattress was lopsided. This was certainly not worth the £450 paid for 1 night.

Well the setting is quirky but that’s about it. Food was good but not that good, no better than our local Thai if as good. Booked for a birthday, disappointing all round. The birthday ‘slate’ that we were told would have a lovely mini selection had one very strong whisky truffle she wouldn’t it. The staff didn’t have much of a clue what was going on and no idea about but allergies, just said it’s Thai it all has nuts in it, so one couldn’t eat at all! Disappointing overall for a HUGE PRICE!

Myself and my Boyfriend stayed here for 1 night (although wish it was longer) via a groupon deal as a present. We had heard good things so we were excited but expectations just grew upon arrival and throughout our stay. Wonderful arrival service, was shown to our room promptly with a glass of champagne. Room was superb, very spacey, quirky and clean. Grounds are lovely to walk around and a couple of mins up to the Crazy Bear Farm Shop and coffee shop which had every local produce you can imagine and more. We had a Thai meal in the evening which in our opinion made the stay, it was the best meal we have probably ever had! Breakfast was a great selection of continental options but also could have upgraded to hot food if required. All in all a wonderful stay, would highly recommend and stay again - excited to try the other locations too!

The quirky/kitch decor is looking dated now and in need of an update. We asked for tap water in addition to drinks as we sat down - and asked again and again. Eventually we got a splash of warm tap water - there was a jug of water with ice and cucumber that we spotted when we were having our puddings that was much nicer. Guys it's the little things that make a difference. Service was surly and slow Service charge was 13.5% and ( we were told by a friend) doesn't go to the staff. Food was good though 😎

Stayed at the crazy bear on the 17th of August. I’ll start by saying we were greeted by very polite and helpful reception staff and checked in although a £150 hold charge was placed on my debit card and nearly two week on still haven’t received my money back even though the hotel ensures me it was released day of departure and should be on it’s way I’m still waiting. The hotel itself is very tired and tacky I understand it’s meant to be wacky and random but it was all very run down and a lot of things broken, damaged or very dirty. Room was nice but in my opinion over priced for what it is, very different which is what you sign up for at the Crazy Bear but definitely nothing luxury about it and wouldn’t call it a suite. Then to be Served by a very arrogant Barman, when I asked for a pink gin and lemonade for my wife I was told they only sell premium drinks and don’t have Gordon's gin! So I replied any pink gin will do, and was told and I quote “for your information sir you don’t just ask for a pink gin as its only Gordon’s that make a pick gin and we only sell premium spirits, so asking for any pink gin is incorrect and will only get you a Gordon’s” I found this very rude and patronising. I then informed him on a few other pink gins which he replied “we will beg to differ sir”. The food I have to say was fantastic but again found most of the staff rude and almost seemed Impatient and again the next morning at breakfast would answer in a condescending manner. Overall I think the Crazy Bear is over priced and staff need a lesson in manners.

Just back from a really, really disappointing trip to the Crazy Bear, Stadhampton via Groupon. Firstly, the greeting and service was good upon arrival and the room was of good quality. Dinner was very, very poor. A poor selection on the set menu and after we were stung with a further 80 pounds on top. We had a pub lunch on the way down that afternoon which was ten times better. The ambience for dinner was lovely, eating outside with the music etc was really romantic so I cannot fault that. In summary, save your money. It is a premium price and not premium product. Thinking now I could of had a city break for what I paid for an evenings stay. Really disappointed and certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone
