Secluded 2 Bedroomed Country Cottage with Private Pool north of the Algarve

Built in the traditional Alentejo style this cottage is everything one could want for a truly quiet and relaxing break away from the crowds to be at one with nature. But it still has all mod cons (except for a dishwasher), and a beautiful pool exclusively for the use of those who rent it, with amazing panoramic views. You won't find a more peaceful getaway than this, yet its only a ten minute walk to the nwaearest village and a 15 minute drive to two supermarkets (Pingo Doce and ALDI) . If you do feel the need for the beach, the unspoilt west coast beaches are less than an hours drive away.

A word of warning:-
This is a country house set in the fields and is only accessible along a bumpy rough farm track 1km in length. If you are worried about your car please do not book this property.
The villa is heated and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Tranquility, private and great views

Negatives:Towels, bedding and outside furniture are dated (one leg fell off the outside table every time it was moved). The shower curtain needs replacing. Pans, crockery and cutlery need a good clean (we cleaned sufficient for our needs and left those items clean). With a few small updates and a bit of cleaning, this would be a great place to stay.Positives:Marten is a nice fellow and quick with his communication replies and lives close by. The location is great if you want peace and quiet, privacy and great views. It's about 1.5km from Garvao which has some facilities and only around 12km from Ourique with its supermarkets and greater choice of restaurants and bars.The ceiling fan was a bonus in the scorching weather we had.The pool is good for a proper swim (it's about 10m long).Good wifi signal and mobile phone reception.Advisory.The villa is accessible via rough, stony and dusty tracks. We found access a little easier from the southern side of Garvao.

Peaceful rural retreat

Delightful place in beautiful countryside with panoramic views. The only sounds around were the sheep bells, swallows, nearby horses and the distant trains to Faro and Lisbon. Very peaceful and private but just a 10 - 15 minute drive to the nearby town Ourique for restaurants and shops. The Alentejo cheese and wines are highly recommended! The pool was fantastic and big enough to swim properly in. Martin the owner was super helpful - met us in Ourique and guided us to the property and showed us around. He was on hand living nearby and always responded quickly to any queries and also checked the pool during our stay. He was so kind when we needed to find a hospital - even driving all the way there with us and translating for us!

Total seclusion!

Lovely villa with amazing views. Larger than expected swimming pool, well appointed villa. Grab your provisions from the supermarket 12km away and use this beautiful villa as a bolt hole for a fabulous rest.

Excellent get-away place.

We were looking for a private place with a private pool. This was a perfect place for us. We were completely isolated but still close enough to do shopping or go to a restaurant if we wanted. The kitchen was equipped enough for our needs apart for the lack of dishwasher The only negative thing we can mention were the wasps around the pool. But that might comes with the territory. Just a suggestion. Some of the windows should have nets to avoid some of the insects to come in during the day/night

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The property, although not the one listed but a 3 bedroom cottage further down the hill from property 6885406, was everything we wanted. Martin the owner explained that due to unforeseen circumstances he'd had to switch the property we stayed in but made sure we were happy with everything and, although never imposing on our privacy, was nearby should we need anything. Set in an excellent location with fantastic views all around, the cottage had all the facilities we could need including a private pool, en-suite bedrooms, spacious kitchen and comfortable living area, outside seating and BBQ. The nearby town Ourique is a lovely place only a 10 minute drive away with a good supermarket, cafes, fuel etc. Highly recommended.

Brilliant. Lovely, secluded villa with beautiful views. Well equipped with everything you're likely to need. Bit too cold for the pool in January, but do-able if you're brave enough. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back.

Wonderful stay in an idealic location

Surrounded by the beautiful Alentejo countryside, this villa has truly magnificent views. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. With a host of unspoilt beaches free of crowds just a short drive away, the villa provides a fantastic base to experience a less well known side of Portugal.

Stunning scenic villa
