Thon Hotel Vika Atrium

A super hotel close to the heart of the Aker Brygge area. Where the harbour and numerous bars and restaurants are located. The hotel was quiet, clean and very comfortable. It has everything you need. Free wifi, smart tv, rainforest shower, air conditioning with comfy beds and good pillows... Breakfast is exceptional, and not to be missed. All diets are catered for, and it is the perfect way to start the day.

If you arrive by train it is a 6 minutes walk from the "Nationalteateret" station. The room was clean. No noise at night (had a room facing the back yard) and the breakfast was very good with a wide selection.

Thon Hotel Vika Atrium is one of the many Thon Hotels in and around Oslo. This one is quite fairly priced as compared to the ones near the city center and I had a really good experience here. The rooms are very well maintained and spacious and the breakfast spread too is decent, considering that I am a vegetarian. I would like to specifically mention that the staff is extremely helpful and kind. One of my fellow travelers had a medical emergency and Daniel, the person in charge at the hotel reception ( I don't know his full name ) made sure that all help was available. So, thank you Daniel and thank you Thon Hotel, Vika Atrium for the good experience.

Location was very good for a little holiday: next to the harbour and the centre. Bed was comfortable and the pillows softiest ever ( hotels' pillow can sometimes be a nighmare). The view from the window was only another building but it didn't matter becacause we only slept there. And we slept well! But the best suprise was the breakfast: Lot of delicious alternatives even if I chose only gluten-free food without milk. After that it wasn't easy to accept normal tasteless hotel-breakfast anymore.

I've been traveling all day and I'm pretty exhausted, I go to my hotel for check-in about 19:00 and leave my things in the room. I then go out to eat a good meal and arrive back at my hotel about 21:30. I turn on the TV but can't even watch more than five minutes since my eyes are too hard to keep up. I decide that I should just go to bed early and instead wake up early. No biggie, right? As it turns out, for some reason I can't sleep and I'm rolling around in my bed for about 30 minutes. All of a sudden I can hear my door click and someone opens my room door and walks inside while yelling "Hello! Hello!". In my confusion I immediately jump out of my bed and answer with a very tired "Hello???". Before I can even get a good look at the person who's inside my room while my heart is racing to figure out what the hell is going on, random person just yells "OK OK GOODBYE!" and slams the door shut. I'm sitting in my bed a bit shocked and very confused. What just happened?? I keep asking myself if I didn't lock my door - even though it's an automated lock system. I go over to my room door just to double confirm that as I thought, there is no manual-lock function for the door. It's automatic lock only. I read through my room information folder and it confirms that all their hotel room doors close after 1 minute after being opened. I decide I should start contacting the reception to find out what the heck is going on. I start calling them but no one is answering even though I'm calling them for five minutes. I put on my clothes and walk down to the reception. Receptionist doesn't even give me an apology, but just tells me that "security went to the wrong door". A knock would at the very least be enough. At check out I tell my story to the reception, but this time its another version. Now its not that security went to the wrong door, but there was an alarm that went off in my room? No apology ever given by front desk staff or management. Give this place a miss, there are much better options within the same price range in Oslo.

The room was clean and nice, the bed was perfect, and the ventilation was good. The next morning we had a superb breakfast buffet downstairs - must be one of the best I've ever had. The staff was very friendly and nice.

The front desk staff was nice and serviceminded. I asked for a room with a window outwards and not in towards the atrium and that wasn't possible. The room was big, but with no fresh air it doesn't really matter to me. The breakfast was ok. As I travel a lot for work I always book a hotel with a workout-space. This hotel does have one, but it's shared with other people (I suspect people working in the building) and I felt like I was in the most testosterone driven gym ever. People having PT-lessons, loud music and the treadmills were out of date. As the only woman I didn't feel safe there at all. It didn't say anything on the website that the gym wasn't private. I was happy I was only here for one night and I won't book this hotel ever again.

This is a fantastic hotel - extremely neat and clean and well maintained. We booked a business room for 3 people which had a double bed and a sofa bed which was also double size - very comfy and still had loads of space in room. Staff are extremely helpful especially Aynhan who took very good care of us. Location is fantastic as it’s across the road from Akers Brygge. Plentiful options for breakfast which was served with a smile. Will definitely stay again. Very easy to get to from the airport - take the metro to National Theatre stop and 5 mins walk.

We spent a couple of nights here to celebrate my husband's birthday and the hotel were fantastic. Booking was easy, I contacted them before travel to find out the best way to get there as we were arriving in Oslo late night. They were very prompt in providing a couple of methods to get to the hotel. They were also very kind to upgrade us so that we were in the business suite. Lovely and spacious, and just what we needed to start off our weekend in Oslo. The receptionist that checked us in was friendly and helpful along with the others that were there throughout the weekend. Breakfast catered for vegetarians and the staff were again very helpful to ensure that we were catered for. The breakfast was exactly the same on both morning but we enjoyed trying the various cheeses, the local cheese was lovely to try. For us the hotel was in a great location as it was slightly out of the city (which we prefer) but it was close to the sea and the Aker Brygge which is a lovely area on the coast that has been developed. It has various eateries that cater for all cuisines I would say and also various shops and coffee shops. We loved this location and that hotel was nice and quite so we were able to have a lovely relaxing weekend bit we also enjoyed our time in the city discovering Oslo. Thanks for the upgrade too! we appreciated the gesture.

We stayed in Hotel Vika Atrium for two nights. Our purpose for this trip was to get some rest and spend some relaxing family time. This did not happen. On our second morning we woke up 7.30 am to a terrible sound of renovation and drilling. Sounds were very loud, like someone was drilling your brain. We called to the reception and they said that they know about these renovations which are being done in the office next door, but they are unable to inform the guests about them because they don’t know exactly when/what time of the day renovations are being done. This is outrageus. We would NEVER have chosen this hotel if we had known about renovations. It is unrespectful to put guests to rooms where the sounds are so loud. Furthermore, it is unbelieveable to ask a full price for this kind of rooms where normal stay is impossible. There were also couple of other things, for example flooding shower, safe deposit not working at the beginning and moldy oranges at breakfast.
