This is a hotel that's is a hidden secret in Oslo. Just 3 min walk from the Main Street (Karl Johan) this is the perfect location for exploring Oslo. The rooms are cleans, good size and if you go above 7th you get a view. Most of the rooms has a small balcony and in the back yard you can relax in the cozy square. The breakfast is delicious and fresh. I will use this often often in the further.
We are very satisfied with our stay at this hotel. Great location, with large room in 11th floor with a nice view from the balcony. Separate bedroom. The breakfast was perfect! The staff was very nice and friendly.
We stayed at thon hotel panorama for one night stopover enroute bergen. I wonder how this hotel ever got an 8+ rating on tripadvisor. They sell a two person room as a 3-person or 4-person room. They space meant for the 3rd/4th person is a lounge area with a make shift metal bed, large window and no curtains. In summer the sun doesnt set till after midnight and you cannot sleep. More importantly there is no individual temperature control in rooms and rooms were terribly hot. The hotel had no fans and the receptionist advised us to keep the window open to keep the room cool. One couldnt do that as road was noisy. When complained about the curtains, the receptionist said none of the rooms had curtain in the lounge area as they did not have the funds for it. She refused to discuss the issue further and refused to give us access to the hotel manager to make a complaint. I heard the same complaint fromseveral other guests during breakfast. Also, The bathroom door lock was broken and would not shut. More importantly The horrible makeshift bed had metal sticking out which ripped my trousers. If you are booking a room for more than 2 people, do speak to them in advance and ensure it meets your needs.
Stayed here as a family of 4 visiting Oslo for a couple of days. This hotel is 10mins walk from the main train station, and 10mins walk from the harbour, so perfectly placed. It is clean and comfortable, but the room was a little cramped. The bedroom had curtains, but the main living area with a sofa bed had no curtains, so we needed sleep masks. The balcony was teeny-tiny, but offered fresh air and a view of the opera house. Breakfast buffet was really excellent, and service was friendly and efficient.
Clean, affordable and efficient. Smallish rooms but good location. We paid a little extra to have a balcony and a view of the harbor which was worth it to oversee this beautiful city. It’s a good location a couple blocks off the general hubbub of the downtown yet three blocks from the train station. Aker Brygge was a short walk away which provides lots of interesting, if expensive, restaurants good for people watching. Breakfast was huge. Eggs, bacon, breads, other hot dishes, cereals, lots of fresh fruit. The staff was very friendly and provided us with a bag breakfast since we were heading off to the Norway-in-a-Nutshell train at 6:00 am.
Nice hotel, big and spacious room (including a sitting ares), modern bath (even though the shower is too small). There is no aircondition in the room, only some mobile cooler, so the room was a little hot in summer days. Breakfast is great, very generous and varied. Tje lobby has free coffee (esspresso machine) and tea all dayand has a privite yard where you can sit in nice weather. Location is great - walkind distance to central station and most of the atrractions, as well as to transportation options. Staff was nice and courteus.
Not recommended vs other options from same chain, in the same Neighbourhood. Must say staff was really friendly and helpful, understanding. But the hotel building itself is a Budget hotel with 3-4 star prices. Rooms are small, funny layout, sofas and pillows/ carpets caused issues to people with allergies and there were no dark curtains in the summer. They have smaller allergy friendly rooms apparently but not something offered via traditional booking routes like this website or booking.com. Laundry can be outsourced at exorbitant prices or buy detergent from front desk and use the 8th floor machine and dryer. Free coffee and tea at all times in lobby. We checked out in less than an hour (had flexi) and moved to the Saga hotel which, for the same price, is like 4 times better in terms of modernity.
They are not kidding! Any room over maybe 5th floor will have a great view. We stayed on 11th floor in a one bedroom with kitchen and balcony. Really beautiful view. Great breakfast, nice and helpful staff, and well situated in Oslo. Parking can be very expensive in Oslo, so use the hotel deal for the nearby parking facility, which is less painful.
This hotel (part of a chain) is only a few blocks from central station and the water. There are restaurants and pubs all within walking distance (try the Whisky bars down the street - great selection -or the Irish pub). I recommend you upgrade your room from standard to business. It is only approx. $100 ( live it up). The upgrade gives you a balcony, complete kitchen and living room. Buffet breakfast is included with all rooms (come early or it is a mad house). Although not luxurious, this is a good, comfortable hotel.
We stayed at other Thon hotels before, but this time we disappointed a lot. The room wasn't clean enough, it was dark and there was no panaromic view (to be honest we had a view of a wall of the other building). Also I'm a bit sensitive about the bathrooms and I didn't feel comfortable while using the shower because of the humid and the ugly looking tiles. Furthermore we needed to go out of the room to use the wifi because it wasn't working well in the room. The only thing good about that hotel is their lovely stuff (especially Marianne and Hakon). May be there are better rooms I don't know but it was a really bad experience for us.
