Scandic Solli is a good Scandic hotel. Rooms are good size and comfortable. This Scandic has a bit mire than usual « minimalist » Scandic rooms. Great breakfast with very fresh food and good variety. Scandic Solli is in a quite area of Oslo, 5 minutes walking distance to the king residence.
I have stayed in many hotels in Oslo and as many thugs in Norway, getting a comparatively cheap deal is not easy, however the Scandic Soli strikes a balance between the two, the room are average size and the breakfast is above average. The hotel is in a good location a short distance from the town centre, the National Theatre Station and Aker Brygge, all reachable within 10 or 20 minutes. Taking into consideration the cost of taxi in Oslo this help in keeping track of your budget.
"Take your luggage out by 9:30!!" He said in a raised voice. ( check out man in thenphoto) We were horrified to see him speak to a guest in such a rude manner. If you are travelling with a luggage, make an appointment with the porter, keep them updated on your time of arrival, God forbid if you were to arrive 30 minutes early. They have no protocols for that, other elderlies in our tour group had to stand out in the freezing cold to wait for the porter as we had arrived too early. (We were advised to keep an eye on our luggage). The receptionist made it seem like it was our fault we arrived early, when in fact the tour leader had already informed them in advance that we would be ahead of schedule. They have a different system to lock rooms. It does not automatically lock, my mother called the reception to ask for help and she said in a sarcastic way, " you have to run it again with your keeeeyyyyyssss". She may not have meant to be haughty with her tone, but Good grief, three (3) strikes in just 2 days! Our excitement in visiting such a beautiful country quickly turned into sour bile that rose against our throat. I have never in all of my years of travelling to this continent seen such a vile group of people working together in one hotel. Wow!.
Centrally located and all the basics done well. Welcome atmosphere and efficient staff. Good conference facilities. Pity there is no coffee in the rooms. Good value for money and ideal for the business traveler. Well done.
We stayed at this hotel in March 2018, and were not pleased. We had booked a superior room and got a spacious room at the top floor. The heating was out of order, and an extra heater was already put in the room. Why not just fix the heating problem? An accident by the radiator had caused a lot of brown water splashing down the wall, - not delicate! Spacious bathroom, but soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower were out of order and almost falling apart. Television was placed on a low, small table in front of the bed and was hard to turn in the direction of the seating area. Strange.... There was noise (probably from the roof) from an engine or a fan beeing turned on and off all night. Scandic Solli, you definitely have some improvement potential! However, the beds are very comfy, and breakfast buffet good!
Have stayed in lot of hotels in Oslo 4stars plus - this is the least. Location a bit out of centre and the hotel is a bit run down and could be cleaned a bit. The quality of the bed is low and the cleaning should have been better. Brekfast ok but realy crowded.
After searching high and low for reasonable priced accommodation we settled on scandic hotels. They offer great rates and even better on the reward scheme. Only 5 min walk maximum to the city centre. Great location near to the Palace. Would recommend to do your research if your arrival is at the bus station from the airport. Breakfast and the room was excellent. Im sure we will be back again👌
Scandic Solli is a good business hotel in a good location – both central town and Aker Brygge business district are short walk away. And if you want to use public transport (bus, tram or metro to the airport) then these stops are also close by. The hotel building itself is a bit worn but the room was ok, the bed very comfortable and wifi as it should be - fast and free. I had a room facing south so it was dead quiet at night. The best thing with this hotel (besides location) was the breakfast – it was absolutely marvellous. The buffet selection was abundant and everything I managed to taste was really good. I wish I had more room in the stomach because there were many things I wanted to try but just couldn’t. The staff was friendly but looked a bit tired because there were really long lines in reception during rush hours (e.g. mornings or when a bus load of people arrived). But this is just an obesrvation, not a complaint. Check-in and check-out went actually really smoothly. All in all a good experience and I would definitely stay there again if in Oslo.
Not a bad location. Easy walk from the station and some great restaurants nearby, Which is just as well -a colleague asked a staff member if we can get something to eat and they said "NO - we are changing shifts". Rooms very basic. Not impressed that there is no room safe or tea coffee facilities in the room.
Conference facilities are very up to date and the kitchen and staff are very both close and competent. They can but together a meal on any theme you wish or compose one using Norwegian produce, meats and fish. And of course all the technical stuff you need for a good conference is onsite
