I JUST returned from my stay at the Scandic Sjolyst and I miss it already! My friend and I stayed there for a few nights and absolutely loved it. First and foremost, everyone from the front desk to the breakfast staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and appreciated! We enjoyed chatting to Rosalin at the front desk as she gave us a lot of wonderful recommendations on where to go out for nightlife / great restaurants as well as directions on how to get there. As for the location of the hotel, it's in the business district so it's incredibly quiet on the weekends, HOWEVER, it's only a 5 minute train ride into the city center. We did walk around the neighborhood as there are wonderful boutiques and we even went to the grocery store "Meny" across the street for some late night snacks! I loved this location because we were close to the Viking Museum and Stave Church as well (we actually walked to both attractions -- it was about a 1.5 mile walk each way and saw beautiful farms, fields, etc). I cannot stress enough at how amazing the breakfast buffet was and how easy it was to get from the hotel to the city center. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!
We spent two nights in this hotel. The locations was excellent to the train stop for the airport, it's about 300 metres walk. We walked all the way to the city which was lovely on a nice day, about 40 minutes. The room was nice and modern, I loved the sofa lounge, so comfy. The bathroom was also modern with free toiletries. There was a kettle in the room with tea/coffee. Breakfast was excellent with smoked salmon and brown Norwegian cheese, I love both!. I left my jumper in the room and the staff posted it to me, free of charge, in Trondheim, very kind. We would definitely stay here again.
I stayed there for 2 nights and it was a real pleasure. The hotel was at a good location, close to the Soyen station. The staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast is really great.
A very nice hotel. fantastic breakfast, great shopping opportunities in the immediate vicinity and amazingly fresh breakfast, gave a very good impression overall. The parking facility was overly expensive
A very warm welcome from very friendly and helpful staff, the breakfast was incredible, one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had, very fresh and a wide variety of different options (including a wide range for gluten free diets). The rooms are basic but comfortable. The location is slightly out of town but close to the excellent public transport links (about 10 mins bus/tram ride into the centre), it is located in a stylish area with many cafes and restaurants. It is also close to the Bygdøy peninsula that has many museums and points of interest. Is excellent value for money (especially in expensive Oslo).
We stayed for 2 nights and had a great stay, nice location with train and bus 5 minutes walk. Train Will take u to citycentre in 3 minutes from trainstation Skøyen. Nice breakfast and friendly staff, though the man in reception was a little grumpy when we came home late and called on the bell when we left our key at the hotel earlier.
I ended up booking a junior suite because all other rooms were booked. It was expensive at £280 per night. The bedroom was fine, but the suite had a meeting room attached, which was redundant and had a table set out for six. It seemed pointless. The bathroom was large but tired and the towels were old, scratchy and grey. The hand basin took an age to drain and the cleaning was cursory. There was a large balcony that gave a nice view of Skoyen by night. But who needs that in November? Other than that, the staff were friendly and breakfast was good. I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I guess if I’d managed to get just a single/ double room rate, it would have seemed much better value.
It's a good location, and the room was OK, it was an obvious dustlayer on the hairdryer, which should've been easy to see while cleaning. I missed ALL but one of the informationfolders on the room, had to go down and ask for a do not disturb-sign. But overall I'm truly happy with my stay and the service.
Very nice room and comfortable beds. Tasty breakfast and very helpful staff. Good location close to railway and buses with easy access to the centre of Oslo. The Vigelandspark is just 20 min walk. Some shops near rhe hotel. Suitable for all kinds of people and purposes.
There is not much to say about this hotel, maybe except for maybe it to get a perfect average score. Which might not be a good thing. Depends whether you want a stay to be remarkable or not. I stayed here not so long ago, and can barely remember the place, except that I did notice that there was almost nothing to eat for breakfast if you are a vegan, and few things if you are a vegetarian. That was a bummer, as hotel breakfasts normally is my favorite thing when I stay at a hotel. But if you just need some place to sleep I would say that the beds were quite comfortable, the staff nice enough and it not so far from Bygdøy, which is a beautiful place to take a walk. You can get here by most trains heading west (from Oslo Central station and stop at Skøyen), by tram number 13 (stop at Thune or Skøyen) or by bus 31 (also stop at Thune or Skøyen).
