Radisson Blu Hotel Nydalen, Oslo4.0 out of 5.0

Radisson Blu Hotel Nydalen is a hotel that looks modern at the front desk, but the rooms are getting well worn. Here's the 90's left and there is a need for refurbishment. When we showered the bath floor was wet throughout the bathroom. In addition, the obligatory towel was supposed to be on the floor after the shower. One key card in the room stopped working, and when we had to activate it again, the other stopped working since the prescription deleted it as well. The result was that my wife was standing in the hallway and had to go down an extra trip in the prescription to activate this card as well. Here the hotel has an improvement potential. Not deactivate card when you update one other card without informing it to the guest. Without this little accident, the front desk staff was nice and had high professionalism. When the hotel accomplishes "very good" - 4 dots, it's because of breakfast. THe breakfast increases the experience of the hotel to the higher heights. Because of service from "the breakfast cook", so I would definitely say that this is one of the best breakfasts in hotels in this country.
Clean modern space with helpful friendly staff. This place is really making an effort and you can feel it. Complimentary sushi at the bar was a lovely touch, thank you. Rooms comfortable although the new Grohe shower lacks a standard spray shower mode. Good speed wifi without login and comfortable leather chair & footstool in the room. Opening windows. Slight let-down was the bed which has a sub-standard mattress for this quality of hotel. I felt too hot and did not sleep well on this. Breakfast better than I have experienced in other Radissons. Fresh fruit & seeds, good bread, cook station for fresh hot food, and one excellent thing: loose teas with an infuser...superb! If the beds get an upgrade, this would be an excellent hotel.
It is a good hotel with good comfortable rooms and rich feel. The rooms are spacious and the facilities are of high standard. The bathroom was spacy and with modern amenities. The breakfast spread was very good with plenty of choice. The chef Liang was very helpful, He took extra care to prepare the eggs the way I wanted. The only drawback for us was its location being faraway from the city centre.
the bedrooms are comfy and spacious. the bathroom clean and tidy overall. the service top notch, they instructed us for the city and the transportation by providing us printed google maps. The best part is the breakfast...OMG .. I'll try to post a video.
Several things not great about the hotel. Front of house staff were good when they were there, however twice we had to hunt them down in the back office , the second time being told we shouldn't be there! We wouldn't have been had they been on the front desk. We needed them as for the 3rd time In 3 days time our room card had stopped working. Breakfast was well stocked but not enough staff, first morning ran out of plates , no one to be seen cooking fresh eggs dishes, butter had run out. Second morning coffee had run out.....person cooking omelettes and eggs needed a little more practise! Room was comfortable and clean but we never solved the mystery of the duvet being smaller than the bed and not quite covering the 2 of us....
I am giving 5 stars as the hotel was beyond my expectations; i read some reviews telling that the hotel is not in a Radisson Blu standards. I found the hotel at Radisson Blu standards and i enjoyed a "Yes i can" Radisson Blu service! The staff is really polite and ready to help for anything you need. I always love to use the "One Touch" Application from my mobile phone, and make any requests from my device. The breakfast was good, with fresh food. I like hotel's interior design. Wifi was really fast. Location: the hotel is located opposite from BI Business School, next from the Nydalen metro station, which is 10 minutes ride to city centre. Room: i had a standard room, room no 706. Big room with two armchairs, office/office chair. I asked for 2 beds, so i got 2 single beds (i expected 2 twin beds from Radisson, but single beds were comfortable as well). There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room but you can ask from reception to provide kettle and teabags for free. Soundproof rooms with nice views. I had view to the river which was absolutely lovely. Big windows, you are able to open the windows for fresh air. The sun is lighting in the room, but during the night i found the room a bit dark. Maybe more light bulbs could help. Tip #Ask for room that had views to the city, as there are smaller rooms overlooking inside hotel's lobby. Bathroom: it was a great surprise that the room was having bathtub! Always love Radisson Blu "This works" toiletries! I would definitely stay in that hotel when i am back in Oslo!
Good value hotel in an expensive city. The rooms are of decent size, clean with very comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice to suit all. Friendly and helpful staff. Ideally situated - 11 minutes by underground to the centre, good bus routes and a half hour walk along the river to the centre. There is a supermarket and good Asian restaurant Xfeast in the same complex and plenty of coffee shops nearby.
I must say that I had higher expectations than what I experienced. Other Radisson Blu hotels I have stayed at has been more interesting. The room was ok, but nothing more. Not equipped the way I expected. The breakfast was ok, but nothing more, I think that "average" is a suitable expression.
A recent business trip found me staying here. The room was small, but very comfortable, so no issues there and I didn't eat in the hotel (so no comment possible) What I did find was that the staff were efficient and welcoming and it was a pleasant place to stay (In a Euro Hotel sort of way). The hotel bar prices are expensive, but no worse that anywhere else. One useful point, is that the hotel is very close to the metro, with the Nydalen station just next door - given the price of taxis this is very useful and its only about 20 minutes to central Station
My friend and I stayed at this lovely hotel in Oslo. Friendly and helpful staff, amazing breakfast with extended times Sunday's and bank holidays. Hotel was very easy to get to from the airport by coach. It's in a great quiet location and was surprised to find the station right opposite the hotel, regular buses and a food & shopping hall next door. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend it.
