Stayed in this hotel last September and it was lovely. Staying here in Winter it's a very different story! The rooms were freezing. The heating runs off a central heating system and is poorly designed for this country which reaches sub zero temperatures for a significant period of the year! The heater is right next to the window so any heat was sure to escape instead of heating the room. Called reception to say the heating wasn't working, they said it takes 3 hours to kick in. I didn't feel it 'kick in' at all and had to wear a lot of extra layers to bed - highly uncomfortable and still not warm enough! The people/staff and food are great, but if you want a comfy night's sleep then go somewhere with better heating.
Hotel is located much away from the center of the city. Massive building from the outside - not really appealing. Stylish 60s' interior design in the main halls, at the conference rooms and in the main restaurant. However, rooms are very modern, big, very clean and very well lightened with free Wi-Fi, a flat screen TV. The best place is on the top Floor 33 - the restaurant and bar. There is an unique dining experience with stunning panoramic views of Oslo and the Oslo Fjord.
The rooms were clean, but besides that this hotel has nothing really to offer It is old and worn down and need a renovation The restaturant, well the food was ok. We were a group of 20 people on a business conference all booked at the hotel. When a lot of us ordered Salmon in the restaturant..the restaturant responded, we didnt know there would be this many people, but lets see what we can do? When the waiter didint say more we thought it was ok...but halv of us didnt get Salmon, but another kind of white fish. THis was the generel experience all the time. Young employees who didnt know how to handle the guests.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was good value given its proximity to the city center and the availability of free parking. The food in the restaurant was excellent but a little pricey - but that’s not unusual in Norway.
Stayed there several nights and was pretty pleased with everything. The gym is very small - has an elliptical cardio, treadmill and a bike and also dumbbells up to 30 kg, so it's possible to put together a decent workout. If you're alone there, feels quite OK. The breakfast is also quite good. Maybe not as great as, for example, Scandic Hotels though. The location is not bad regarding transportation as the tube is not so far away. Not so great that it is right next to a highway and in the "backyard" there's an industrial region, so it's kind of not so great place to walk around.
The hotel is an older building in the Brutalist style, not to everyone's tastes but I liked it. The entrance / lobby is quite stylish in this 1960s way. In the lobby there is seating and there is a coffee machine, vending for chocolate and snacks. There is a bar / restaurant upstairs and there is a breakfast dining room on the ground floor. The check in and check out was efficient and helpful. Excellent English is spoken. The room was comfortable, a little austere as is common in this part of the world. I slept well. Everything was clean. Everything was maintained in good order. The restaurant is very nice. I enjoyed the view. The service was very good. The food was excellent. Breakfast was also very good. The location was convenient for my business trip.
This hotel sticks out like one off the worst I ever stayed at and at a very high price compared to what you get. One night stay for business, was told by reception that I was upgraded because of my Gold status. If my room was an upgrade I am extremely worried what a standard room is like at the same price? I have never been in prison, but I imagine that this concrete crypt with no decor and very little light must be like a prison cell. The bathroom "screams" for a restoration, and the soap and the soap dispensers on the wall are among the least attractive I have ever seen. And, I have seen many! The hotel location is also "in the middle of nowhere" and you will need a car here to get around. Breakfast was mediocre, and I assume that the breakfast restaurant is also very much like a prison canteen, possibly even worse. Avoid this hotel if you can. The high price is not an indication of the standard.
The hotel is really old , but breakfast was early 06:00 and that is very good for us that start to work at 07:00. Location is ok but it is not close to the city so for people who likes the nightlife this is not the best place
I stayed at this hotel just for one night. The hotel is situated a little bit far away from the city center but there is a metro station close to this hotel. The room was ok. The bed was a little bit hard. Take a room situated on the other side from the road to avoid the noise. The staff was nice. The best at this hotel was the breakfast. Rich and tasty!
Stayed here for business. Fantastic staff, so friendly and helpful. Even if the grounds had not been so good, the way the staff treat you, I would have still given an Excellent rating. Lovely breakfast spread - the usual European breakfast offerings and local delicacies like fish and cheese. Decor is new and clean and open, not what you expect when you see the outside of the hotel, the inside will definitely be a pleasant surprise for you. Rooms are clean and basic with big flat screen TVs and free wifi. Views from rooms higher up are great, make sure you go to the rooftop bar as it offers stunning views especially at sunset. Conference facilities are excellent. Hotel has free wi-fi. The only thing I would suggest to make it even better would be to allow customers to go to the rooftop bar at sunrise as well.
