I was only here for 1 night however I was really impressed with both Norway and the Clarion. The hotel is easy to find and located really close to central station. Only reason I didn't score the hotel with a 5 star was because I felt the room was small, however everything else was brilliant. The food, the breakfast and the decent glass of red in front of the open fire in reception. Will stay here again.
I have reviewed this hotel before & felt I had too again after my recent 10 day visit. I had a wonderful stay, the staff on Reception,Restaurant & Housekeeping without exception were polite, friendly & most of all so helpful. It made my stay most enjoyable. I had a problem with the TV, I mentioned it to reception & in less than 15 minutes a new one was provided. I call that excellent service which you get from all the staff. In a comfortable sitting area is an open log fire to welcome you if it is cold. Tea/coffee & fruit always available provided free, pancakes in the afternoon & nice buffet in the evening. A great plus with the prices in Oslo. The Train Station, Opera House & shops are all within walking distance. I am looking forward to my next visit.
I had a very good stay in this hotel. even though it is very central, it was surprisingly quiet. I had a good nights sleep, also much because of a decent ventilation system. The complimentary evening buffet was quite ok. Also coffee/tea and something to eat from 3pm-6pm. The service was good all over. Especially the Filipino guy working the buffet was very service-minded and friendly. It was a very good atmosphere, and very cosy and nice to relax in the lobby bar. The only negative I noticed, was 2 lamps not working in my room. A bit irritating an unnecessary. All in all, a pleasant stay and I will not hesitate staying here again.
Small room, but adequate for the short stay. Walking distance to central rail station and one of the main shopping centres . Close to new opera house -under construction. Breakfast included and more than adequate. Hotel could do with a new good coat of paint everywhere.
First impression was not at all bad. Nice atmosphere in reception, possibilities for an easy supper in the restaurant, included in the cost of rooms. Only one elevator, maks getting in and out of 7'th floor a trial to my patience. Room floor and bathroom was clean, som discoloration on roof tiles (705). Quite a lot of noise in the room, could not make out what it was. Seemed like something going on in the pipes somewhere.
Everything here was great, from the welcome at reception to the comfort of the room and the absolutely delicious breakfast. I was most disappointed to not be there 24hrs, to taste the afternoon tea and evening meal, as my flight was delayed 9hrs. I had a single room which is nice (the shower is small but I didn't have a problem with that) The breakfast was amazing with fish, salmon, eggs and all the usual...but you could also fry your own egg or cook your own pancakes! There were even soft boiled eggs with runny yolks on the buffet!! The restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Good price by going via their own web site. I'll be back here no doubt!
It is OK but the details are really missing here. By table was broken with sharp edges to cut yourself if your not careful. The bathroom floor was icecold without possibility to turn floorheating on, not a pleasant experience. The coffe is not even standard quality. It's very off, better to choose Börsparken or Xpress which is little bit better location. The rooms has inefficiently soundproof from other room, you can hear voices from other rooms via the ventilationsystem.
Well, well, well. What can we say about this hotel? In the lift (elevator) it proudly shows another TripAdvisor member's review. Their review started with the line "Is this the nicest hotel I've stayed at? No it's not". I don't know if something got lost in translation but I thought it was a harbinger of bad times ahead at this hotel. (Incidentally the 'lift review' did go on to praise staff - more on that later) Located on a seedy backstreet albeit not too far from the central railway station, this hotel looks good on the website but average in real life. I arrived at the hotel mid-evening to an unstaffed front desk and spent nearly 10 minutes trying to find someone to make myself known to them. Eventually a friendly face appeared and checked me in. I went up to the room, started to settle in and commenced my usual hygiene check. First I spotted a rogue hair in the bathroom, then more hairs and black bits on the sheets. Back to the front desk for a room change and the lady who served me originally was happy to oblige. The new room was on a different floor. I entered the room hoping that although it was small, it would be clean. Pull back the bed sheets. Black bits. Now by this point I was considering changing hotels. But when things go wrong, I think one should always give a hotel the chance to make amends. Back at the front desk, the lady began to realise that there must be something wrong with the cleaning service. My room was changed again to a different room type - larger, and fresher and crucially...clean. The hotel provides complimentary dinner. This was a miserable affair. Oily tomato soup was followed by questionable lamb, a few meagre and largely dull vegetables and random salads. It wasn't really dinner, it was fodder that left you still hungry afterwards. That said, it was nice to just 'chill' in the lobby dining area with a well-stocked log fire - and a well-stocked bar. I retired to my room and braced myself for a night at this hotel. Sleep quality was fair. It wasn't the most restful nor the worse. But by now it was clear this was not a very good hotel. Following the disappointing dinner and my experience of breakfast at another Clarion in Trondheim, I couldn't face breakfast here and skipped it. Upon checkout, staff again apologised for all the troubles. I admire how diligently they worked to resolve these problems. And like the 'lift review' says, their staff are very good and very conscientious. Nevertheless, the hotel is old, tired and just bad. I stay at a lot of hotels each year and this was one of the worst of 2017. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again and neither should you.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, wow what a treat. Staff where so welcoming, friendly, helpful. The cleanliness was outstanding along with the facilities of the sauna, fitness room. Open log fire was great to come into as the weather was rather cold outside. Although there was only one choice of main meal at night it was tasty, plentiful, along with bread, soup and fresh salads....I found this hotel to be a luxury treat...
Terrible small room, uncomfortable shower with no hot water. Dirty breakfast tables and cold coffee (although it is from a machine). Location is in the rough area of Oslo. The hotel does not copy the pictures and description.
