Great location for first time at Lake Orta

Pietro and Maria were excellent hosts. The property was lovely and clean and well equipped. The owners always on hand if needed but not intrusive. Very generous with gifts of fresh veg and fruit from the garden

Lovely Orta San Julio

FRENCH : Ce qui est plaisant : la maison au milieu d'un trĂšs grand potager/verger et les bonnes tomates et lĂ©gumes de Pietro. Les 2 grandes terrasses. Ce qui est moins plaisant : les trains trĂšs bruyants passant Ă  30 mĂštres devant la grande terrasse Ă  toute heure mĂšme en pleine nuit. Le spa tub mentionnĂ© dans la description qui n'existe pas de mĂȘme que la bouilloire Ă©lectrique. La douche trĂšs inconfortable. Les propriĂ©taires sont trĂšs aimables ; encore merci pour le pot de miel du dĂ©part. ENGLISH : What's nice : the setting surrounded by an orchard and 2 very nice open air patios with furnitures. The good fruits and vegetables. What's less pleasant : The noisy trains running 30 yards in front of the house, even nighty. There is no spa tub as mentioned in the description and no electric kettle. The shower is not comfortable at all. The owners are very nice and Ready to answer questions.

Great view, great hostesses, superb surrounding

We rented the appartement for 8 days and enjoyed every day of it. The fruit and Vegetables we got from the garden were excellent, we cooked almost every night at the house, using the products we got from the owners. It is easy to explore the surroundings by foot, the Beach, the town and the Ferry for the lake are all within a 20 min walk. The owners are excellent hosts, we highly recommend this appartment and hope to come here again.

We found this a delightful place to stay the photos do not do it justice. With views over the mountains and lake from the patio a lovely spot to watch the sunset from. It is in an excellent position to explore the surrounding towns, countryside and of course Lake Orta. Pietro and Mariagave us a very friendly, warm and informative welcome. Pietro’s baskets of home grown produce (especially the figs) where most welcome. They also gave us lovely treats to come home with wine from Lake Orta and homemade fig marmalade.

Great place to stay, handy for the lake , the little beach at Pettenasco, the super town of St Giulio and touring in the hills and valleys. Pietro and Maria are excellent generous hosts and are good at keeping the client/host balance just right. The addition of mosquito screens and an efficient fan were most welcome this year. Very highly recommended.

Exactly as advertised - beautifully maintained

The hosts who live on site were very helpful with advice on the area and very generous with fruit and vegetables from the smallholding that the house is part of. Superbly clean and tidy, it's well looked after. For us the trains at the end of the property were no problem at all. Would definitely consider a return visit. A good experience.

A charming place to stay on beautiful Lake Orta

We loved every minute of our stay at Pietro and Maria's apartment. The property is set in a beautiful orchard and just up the hill from Orta San Giulio (it was an easy 25 min walk to the centre). The place was spotless and whilst simple, had everything you could possibly need for your stay. The terrace at the back is huge and has the most wonderful views. The highlight though had to be our hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay special, with deliveries of home grown fruit and veg from the garden (delicious) and all the information we could need for our stay. We just hope that our very basic Italian adequately communicated our appreciation! Lake Orta itself is breathtakingly beautiful and much quieter than some of the bigger lakes, this was the perfect place to base ourselves (9 nights) to explore the wider areas (including a day trip to Milan, Stresa and hiking in the Alps). We would absolutely recommend the place and the lovely hosts.

Peaceful and relaxing

We had a fabulous time at Casa Canvesa. The apartment was clean and in a beautiful location. Pietro and Maria are so kind and helpful. We especially enjoyed the view from the terrace, the tranquillity (the train rumbling past occasionally didn't bother us at all), being 'away from it all' but close enough to go to the lake everyday for a swim, the animals (especially the dog!) and the delicious homegrown fruits & vegetables that our hosts so kindly provided. There is a little shop about 10 mins walk away that supplied us with all the extras we needed and a fantastic agriturismo restaurant about 15 mins walk away too. We hope to return some time and would like to thank Pietro and Maria for being great hosts.

Ideal for young families, walking distance to local shop, pub and train station. A few minutes drive from areas of interest. The hosts Pietro and Maria Grazie are perfect and very hospitable making us feel very welcome indeed. Highly recommended.

Pietro and Maria Grazia were the perfect hosts. My son loved toddling around the large garden, and looking at the chickens. My wife and I enjoyed the fresh fruit and veggies our hosts so generously supplied, cooked up and eaten outside on the terrace enjoying the balmy Italian summer. Great location. A lovely find. If you want a base to explore and he Otalan lakes from you could do far worse. We had a great family holiday made all the more so my our lovely hosts. Bob, Alex and (of course) Patrick Coles.

Un séjour parfait !!

L'accueil de Pietro et Maria est vraiment trĂšs sympathique et chaleureux. La maison est idĂ©alement placĂ©e pour les visites aux alentours (qui sont nombreuses) et la vue sur le lac est apaisante. Certains visiteurs avaient signalĂ© le bruit du train dans leurs commentaires mais ça n'est vraiment pas un souci car il y en a trĂšs peu et le bruit n'est pas gĂȘnant.Nous avons passĂ© un trĂšs bon sĂ©jour, merci Pietro et Maria pour votre gentillesse.

Schöner Aufenthalt mit Blick auf den See

Wir haben eine schöne Woche in Orta San Giulio verbracht. Die Gastgeber waren sehr aufmerksam und haben uns einen Korb mit GemĂŒse und Obst aus eigenem Anbau und zum Abschied eine Flasche Wein geschenkt. Von der Wohnung aus lĂ€uft man bergab eine Viertelstunde an den See und 25 Minuten nach Orta. ZurĂŒck braucht man lĂ€nger.

Beautiful location, best hosts

We had a very nice stay and enjoyed the location a lot. The view is amazing and the beach is quite close, just as the beautiful town of Orta San Giulio. Furthermore, we felt in love with the area and its flair. One thing stood out: the hosts! They are absolutely amazing. They where always there to answer our questions and give us some advice. They even brought us fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden. So lovely! When it was quite hot (36°C), Pietro even brought us very cold water. We are very thankful for our amazing holiday and those lovely hosts!

Haus in Orta Miasino

Das Haus ist großzĂŒgig geschnitten und gut ausgestattet. Es ist gut temperiert, was bei heißen Tagen sehr gut ist. Leider befindet sich das Haus in der NĂ€he der Gleise und nachts fahren viele GĂŒterzĂŒge. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Entspannter Urlaub mit Kleinkind

Wir haben hier eine wunderschöne, erholsame Woche verbracht. Die gerĂ€umige Wohnung ist zweckmĂ€ĂŸig eingerichtet und fĂŒr den Urlaub mit Kleinkindern sehr geeignet. Unser 1,5 Jahre alter Sohn hat sich in der Unterkunft gleich wohl gefĂŒhlt und hatte Vieles zum Spielen und Erkunden (Schaukelpferd, Kindertisch, Kuscheltier im Kinderbettchen, Kaninchen beobachten). Er hat zudem sehr gerne auf der großen Terrasse (mit gesichertem GelĂ€nder) und im Garten gespielt und wir konnten den Ausblick genießen. Pietro und Maria waren sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Zudem haben sie uns köstliches Obst und GemĂŒse aus dem eigenen Garten vorbeigebracht – sehr lecker! Vielen Dank! (Hinweis fĂŒr FußgĂ€nger: Der erste Straßenabschnitt Richtung Ortschaft hat leider keinen separaten Fußweg. Hier muss man gut auf die vorbeifahrenden Autos achten. Wir empfehlen Trage statt Kinderwagen.)

Schöne Unterkunft in toller lage am Ortasee

Wir haben knappe zwei Wochen im Haus von Pietro und Maria verbracht und haben unsere Zeit dort sehr genossen. Das Haus ist so wie beschrieben, wobei die Lage durch die Bilder nicht so rĂŒberkommt, wie sie tatsĂ€chlich ist. Der Blick von der Terrasse auf den See und die gegenĂŒberliegenden Berge ist viel schöner, als er auf den Bildern einzufangen war. Ich habe jeden Morgen genossen, die KlapplĂ€den in der KĂŒche zu öffenen und den grandiosen Blick zu geniessen.Vom Haus aus kann man zu Fuß in einer guten Viertelstunde zum See laufen, auch ins Zentrum von Orta lĂ€sst es sich gut an dem schönen Uferweg entlang laufen. Den Ortasee kannten wir schon von einem Urlaub vor 5 Jahren, aber wir haben auf zahlreichen Wanderungen rund um den See sowie auf Paddeltouren dem See die Gegend nochmal ganz neu entdeckt. Er ist und bleibt fĂŒr uns ein kleines Paradies. Die Unterkunft ist zweckmĂ€ĂŸig eingerichtet und absolut ruhig- die Bahnlinie haben wir ĂŒberhaupt nicht als störend empfunden. Der Garten von Pietro und Maria ist herrlich- und dass wir jede Woche einen tollen großen Korb mit Obst und GemĂŒse vor die TĂŒr gestellt haben, hat uns zu köstlichen Gerichten verholfen!!! Alles sehr lecker und schmackhaft! Pietro und Maria ein herzliches Dankeschön fĂŒr alles! Die beiden sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit! Gerne bald mal wieder!

Wir verbrachten im spĂ€ten FrĂŒhjahr hier eine sehr erholsame Woche - nicht nur der Ausblick auf den See und Richtung Orta S. Giulio, sondern auch die sorgfĂ€ltige Gepflegtheit des sehr nachhaltig betriebenen Anwesens und die rĂ€umlich grosszĂŒgige Ferienwohnung haben uns sehr gefallen - eine unserer Meinung nach ĂŒberdurchschnittliche Ferienunterkunft.
