Campanile Alencon

Stopped at Alencon on route to Spain. Ideal situation just off motorway on northern side of Alencon. The rooms are small but clean with comfortable beds and quiet situation. They are dated - woodchip painted walls. Beakfast is good with decent choice of breads, cereal, juice, fresh fruit, fruit salad, yoghurts, cheese and ham. The staff are friendly and helpful. Only downside is the smell from the drains in the bathroom. It also seems to be a problem in the locality when we had a walk around as the smell was there. Parking is available generally outside the room you have booked. It's good value and would be given a 5 if the drain smell could be removed.

Whilst the property is average, it is a motel on an industrial estate, it's location is superb, just off the N12, it was easy to find and has access to the service station. Sparse furnishings with comfortable bed, wi-fi easy to log on to and shower was effective. The room was clean although "tired" but what more does one want when making a necessary overnight stop? The reception shuts at 23.00 but arrangements are made via a dropbox system for you to obtain your key. All the staff we had contact with were cheerful and very helpful. Would recommend this place for an overnight stop but would not necessarily want to stay here as a destination accomodation.

Good wifi, comfortable bed, good showers, restaurant attached which looked very nice. Easy access on and off motorway. Not near centre of town so you need to drive or take a long walk. Sunday's very quiet in the town.

First time I had in a Campanile, and I was not disappointed. It was perfect for a stop over mid way through France, after a long trek in UK and a cross channel ferry crossing. Alencon is a nice little town. Plenty of things to see and do. There are some large supermarkets within walking distance. Good sized (free) car park with a secure gate. Had booked other Campaniles whilst I was in France, and was pleased after visiting this one. Would definitely stay here again if I need accommodation in the area.

Booked earlier in the year with an option to cancel up to 48 hours before arriving. This cost E150 for the two of us and when we arrived they were offering a rate of E99. Initially nobody in reception. The room was very clean but starting to look tired with pillows very small and uncomfortable. We stayed for dinner. Limited menu and the beef was as tough as an old boot. Compared with Premier Inns it was disappointing. There must be better places to stay on ones travel into France The only saving grace was the waitress who was very helpful.

Room in need of an update as looking and feeling rather shabby. We used this as a midway stop over, so it suited our needs. Restaurant pleasant, unfortunately we chose the period when the winter menu was changing to the summer menu and not all the dishes were available.

We have used a number of these establishments and by and large they meet a fair standard of no frills accommodation with pretty ordinary fare offering a value for money package ideal for a one-night stop-over

Turned up in the foggy cold night. Aurelia welcomed us - quickly swapping to English once she realised our nationality and inviting us to book for dinner. From past experience in UK , didn't expect there to be a dining room nor the quality we experienced. Great menu , plenty of choice and well presented. The rooms were motel style , with fan heating - bit dubious on whether we would be comfortable - but turned out to be really good. Tea and coffee , WiFi and TV , albeit French only . Would definitely stay again

On route to the Channel Tunnel, this is a great overnight stay, easy to find and not too far from the crossing to the UK. Very comfortable clean bed, quiet and really everything you need for a good night's rest before the final part of the journey. Nice evening meal at a reasonable cost and a great breakfast which is in the cost of the hotel booking. We also used this stopover on our return trip to Spain but this time not so happy with the evening meal. However on complaining the meal was changed to something quite different without any fuss at all. Although listed as a hotel it is, in fact, a motel and very nice too. Recommended. Pet friendly too!

We stayed at the Campanile Alencon when driving through to Spain and it was very convenient, just off of the motorway, and easy to find. The member of staff on reception was very helpful and check-in was quick and easy. The rooms are single-storey and set around the car parking areas and so are perfect if you have a dog as you can easily get in and out without disturbing other guests. Everything was clean and in good working order but the rooms are tired and do need updating. We didn't have breakfast as we had our dog with us (they aren't allowed in the restaurant) and thought it was a little expensive for a budget hotel. However, the restaurant would allow you to order meals to take back to your room in the evening if you couldn't come over the restaurant to eat. There was also a nice looking restaurant nearby but, again, we couldn't use it as we had our dog with us. The hotel is quiet on the whole but is near an airfield so there were small planes passing over to land when we first arrived. The hotel is situated in an industrial area and there aren't many facilities within walking distance but the hotel is a perfect place to stopover when driving through France and i would definitely stay here again.
