Really nice but a lot of construction and multiple restaurant closures. We weren't notified of this until we got a phone call 2 days before our trip. Other than that, the pool was excellent and so was the staff. Food was mediocre but 2 places were closed so maybe better. The trip was fun.
spent 36 hrs inside while hurricane Matthew outside. slept like a baby. Well built, quiet comfortable resort
We had a fun time in our stay and used the pool almost daily. We liked the water slide at the pool. We liked the roaring fork snack place in the hotel which is very convenient for breakfast and other quick eats. We also liked the view from our room which directly faces the Magic Kingdom fireworks. The only minor inconvenience is that the hotel is under renovation and the only elevator available for use is one with some walk distance away from the main lobby.
So close to magic kingdom bus ride is only 5 min, boat ride a few min longer but nice leisure ride in + closer to bag check. Only down fall is the quick service restaurant roaring fork has a limited menu.
Great experience and location; only odd thing was the sinks. Strangely, they were set back too far from the edge of the vanity counter.
We had a great view of the boat light parade from our balcony, great pool, attentive lifeguards, convenient pool bar, convenient quick service food, good room service. The only thing that was annoying was hearing the boat horns until 11:30pm because we were close to the dock. The hotel service was a great example of what you expect from Disney--very helpful and kind. The hotel is currently renovating certain sections, the Villa pool is closed because they are rearranging that recreational area, including the beach. However, the construction wasn't a nuisance at all. Maybe the only irritating thing was that it made the main pool a little more crowded, but it wasn't bad at all and they had a lot of lifeguards.
We enjoy staying at this hotel. The food in the fast service restaurant is good and the location is great for getting to and from the Magic Kingdom.
This hotel has the best balance for, value for the money, location to Disneyland, and a good and authentic Disneyland atmosphere.
We had a great time. Transportation was timely. The pool was crowded and it was difficult to find 2 chairs together. Other than that the trip was awesome. I would recommend the hotel and would come back as well.
Plus: Great staff all around..check in and restaurant staff were great! Food in main restaurant was great. Minus: beds way too soft, dresser was scratched and worn, main restaurant was closed from 2:30-5:00 which was crazy, fast food restaurant was limited compared to other hotels.
Wish I had more time to hang out at the hotel. There were numerous activities at the site and pool was tons of fun.
I have never written a review, but felt compelled to let other families know what a wonderful resort Wilderness Lodge is, especially if they are bringing their children to Disney for the first time. We checked in very late at night after arriving 2 hours late (mechanical plane engine delay) and a not so 'express' Disney airport shuttle. After receiving a pleasant upgrade to a room with bunks, my husband decided to ask a man at the Concierge desk a quick question. It turns out that Concierge Kirk is a Fairy Godfather in disguise because he took one look at my fastpass and dining reservations for the week and bibbity bopped them into what has become a magical vacation of a lifetime. Our standard room was on the fifth floor and looked out into the trees almost like we were in a treehouse. The room is small but we never felt like we were bumping into each other. The hotel's woodsy theme continued into the hallways where you'd find random rocking or comfy leather chairs next to a fireplace. I recommend taking the boat to the Magic Kingdom. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for one. Coming back in the afternoon to rest after a busy day at the parks felt like we were returning home. The pool was very clean, and while the quick service restaurant Roaring Fork is small, it has a much higher quality of food than most Disney QS places we have dined. Try the flatbread pizza--delicious! We stayed at the Wilderness for 3 nights and then moved to a $200/night cheaper moderate resort to save money. It is still very nice but feels more like an embellished motel. My husband and I agree that paying for a deluxe resort is worth every penny. Your hotel at Disney is not just a place you return at night to sleep. It is part of what elevates your Disney vacation from fun to truly magical. You will not regret paying extra for this place!
We only stayed one night prior to a cruise vacation. Easy boat transportation to Contemporary resort where we had a character meal. The pool was great and had a very nice children's area with three small water slides. We only ate at the quick service restaurant. We were able to take the food upstairs and eat on the balcony which was nice. Overall I would stay there again but likely not pay the extra if I was spending the day at the theme parks.
Loved everything about this Disney Hotel! It was our first stay at a Disney resort and the bar has been set high- from the accommodations to the staff - the grounds were beautiful and trips to parks were made with ease.
I've stayed here twice. It is wonderful and peaceful after a busy Disney parks day. There is a bit of construction going on so that would be a concern for me at the high price point. Overall lovely hotel though.
This was not our first stay on Disney property but it was our first stay at the Wilderness lodge. The resort is lovely, many families said they never even went into the theme parks because there was so much to do at the wilderness. The rooms are smaller than other disney deluxe hotels but plenty big for our party of 3. Transportation to the disney theme parks was fast and efficient, no matter the time of day.
My sister and I live in separate cities. We try to get together for a vacation once every couple of years. We picked Disney and really enjoyed this hotel. The rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. It's all in one giant building, which we loved. The surroundings are so nice! And the lobby is gorgeous. Bonus that there are boats that go to Magic Kingdom and the campground where Trails End restaurant is. Wonderful tim!
I enjoyed my stay and have fond memories of the trip and hotel.
The hotel was great. Customer Service was great. The pool area was recently updated and the splash area was a great touch. Everything about this stay was GREAT!
