We booked a Studio Villa via a DVC rental company and rented points for a 9 night stay. 2 Adults and 2 Kids aged 10 months old and 3.5 years old. We all had a wonderful stay. The lodge is beautiful and the smell is my fav part. I just love the smell of the lobby. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: CM's are a delight here, they have them stationed all over the resort and have great fun facts and animal exhibits. We learned a lot about animal poop while waiting for the bus LOL The Simba's Cubhouse Community Centre is excellent for children. My 3yo never waned to leave she even wanted to come home from the parks so she could go craft in the community centre. The pool is lovely, it has a zero entry, plenty of life jackets for kids and isn't crazy noisy like a lot of other main pools are. I only wish they had a splash area for kids like they do at Kidani. The playground is great for kids. Not all resorts have them and this one is really nice and shaded and right next to an animal viewing savannah. Cons: The bus transport, it is the ONLY transport option and while not terrible as the buses come at good intervals, the problem is they pick up at Kidani first so they are full when they get to Jambo House. They really need their own buses when it is peak times. The room we had was noisy, we could hear the elevator all night long, it was honestly horrible. We had a fantastic view of the pool however which almost made up for it. (Room number was 5436) I don't recommend that room at all because of elevator noise. The Mara has a limited menu and if it's not to your liking then you can't eat anything. We had to get Uber Eats a few nights. Overall we would stay here again but not until our kids are out of a stroller, it was too annoying not having room on the bus to sit down while trying to hold children and a stroller.
I have a family of 5, 2 big boys and 1 small one. The 1 bedroom suite fits us all. very close to animal Kingdom however, very far away from Magic Kingdom. came to vacation with a dine-free package for reasonable price. they also release some animals in the yard so you can see when you wake up. very nice hotel.
I was extremely scared with Dorian making all the news when I got to AKL Jambo House on the 31st of August for a 2 nights stay. The Cast Member that greeted us as soon as we walked in made us feel completely safe and reminded us that WDW only closed a couple of times in 45 years. Our room wasn't ready so we strolled the amazing property and grounds and then decided to go to Gatorland for a couple of hours before lunch at Sanaa. Our studio was great and we had a pool view. We were quite close to Reception as we had asked. The pool was lovely as were Mara and Sanaa restaurants. Transportation was amazing, we never waited more than 1, 2 minutes for a bus to the Parks we visited, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Amazing resort with amazing food.
After flight being delayed from Hurricane Dorian we booked an extra 2 nights in Orlando and picked here. We booked this Disney Hotel as everything was in the one building. The staff and the African Guides were wonderful especially Alpha, Andile, Asnath and Bailey. We did the Bead activities which were brilliant. We choose to spend time in the hotel rather than going to the parks. Great service and Mara and again wonderful staff. We loved the room, but didn’t like climbing into the tub for the shower that was the only disappointing thing. Wonderful to sit out on the balcony and watch the animals. Would definitely stay here again!
I’ll start by saying that I stayed at the resort for only two nights. You cannot see or do everything at the resort in two nights. There is so much going around. It’s a wonderful resort for a long stay, but if you are staying for just a couple of nights, don’t try and do everything, it’ll ruin the magic. The second thing that is important, in my opinion, is that the better views are from the rooms that are further to both sides of the building. While you can have a long walk to your room, the rooms further away might get you better views of the animals in the savanna (and to be honest, that’s the main reason for choosing the hotel - the ability to step into the balcony in the morning and just see a giraffe eating from a tree right next to you). If there are three things to do in the hotel, spend a couple of hours strolling around the resort and watching the animals. It’s not a long walk to the other part of the resort (Kidani village), and it’s a walk you should try (step off the bus from the parks in the Kidani village stop and than walk to your room). Than spend another couple of hours at the pool. It’s not crowded at all, and in my opinion one of the best in the Disney resorts I’ve been to. And the third thing, try one of the restaurants. Even if it’s just for the bread service. As in all Disney resorts, you can check in online, and if you have your magic bands, you can go straight to your room when it’s ready (don’t expect it to be ready before 4pm, but you can leave your luggage at the hotel, and just head to the parks). You don’t need to check out either. The room itself was big. We had a studio with one king bed. It also had a kitchenette area (with a microwave), and a necessary balcony. The room was clean, and service all around the hotel was extremely friendly. I had passed so many smiling cast members asking if I need anything, and ready to help, just in the short walk from my room to the laundry room. I know that you are on vacation, and that you are walking a lot at the parks, but I really liked the gym. It’s small, but modern and has all the necessary equipment. I used it every morning (and you can access it 24 hours a day, using your magic band). WiFi was fast and worked great around the resort. And as always, with Disney resorts, the Fastpasses and EMH, are by themselves worth everything. Being a deluxe resort it’s not cheap, but well worth the experience.
Great place to stay with something for everyone. Good customer service and friendly staff. The pool is quite basic but large enough for everyone. Good food and drinks package available and well maintained facilities all round. We had a safari room so had a fantastic view of the animals. If you’re taking a car, self park. Charge for Valet parking is $33 a day.
I booked this for the night before our Disney wedding vow renewal. We booked a savannah room as a treat. We got there at 3pm but our room wasn’t ready which was not ideal but by 4:30 it was. I asked originally for a room near the elevator as I struggle walking long distances, we had the room the furthest from the elevator and also at the edge so there were no animals anywhere near us. One phone call later we were moved to a closer room with better views. Watching the animals was amazing and we could see animal kingdom fireworks from our balcony. A good great but very expensive. Room is just a little better than all star movies if you don’t have a savannah view.
We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa overlooking the savannah. Waking up to zebras and giraffes outside was amazing. Gorgeous room, fully equipped kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, comfy beds, fluffy towels, quiet location but not far from pool, restaurants, bars. This resort is close to Animal Kingdom but farther from the other parks so bus rides are longer and sometimes a bit more crowded. Great relaxing family hotel to come back to when you're done with the hustle and bustle at the theme parks though.
We very much enjoyed our stay here! The resort is beautiful, interesting and child friendly. There are activities on campus throughout the day to keep you entertained including African face painting, medallion rubbing (where children trace the medallion at the entrance with crayons), cultural tours, Jambo house art tour, fun poolside activities for the kids as well. The most beautiful part of the tour is watching the variety of animals meander through the savannas and it is special to have a savanna facing room (the animals do not come right up to your porch as there is a barrier they do not cross but it still is very close up and magical). The room and grounds are clean and well kept the decor in the Jambo House lobby is surreal- worth doing the Jambo House Art Tour if it fits into your stay. Definitely make at least one day to stay on campus if you have kids as there is soo much to do! My one hang up about this place is that for the amount they charge you would expect there to be very smooth transactions throughout. The staff were all very friendly and tried their best but could not always solve the issue ie: It took me close to 45 minutes to check in as they tried to figure out how to upload my credit card and my magic band did not charge for the next 2 days despite them telling me that it was fixed both times. It was staff on another Disney resort that was finally able to fix the issue (they had my magic band set to not charge more than $0). I had other such issues during my visit that took from the little precious time I had to vacation. Overall would recommend but I am hopeful they can fix that issue going forward for others so that it is a smooth experience for all.
I was lucky enough to schedule a short vacation at this great hotel!!!! Frankly it will be difficult to do this hotel justice in a review. However, you are reading to get as good an idea as I can give and so I will try. Lets start with the staff. Disney is known for friendly and wonderful staff but this place takes the cake. They went beyond....The fact that I remember a name or two is remarkable. Julius for one! He is a wildlife expert that is in the lobby. He is there to answer any questions you have about wildlife. He was brilliant and so very nice and patient considering I was the one asking the very uneducated questions! LOL Now to the hotel...you have a wonderful view of animals who are actually walking around the property itself. It is beautiful to say the least! The entire hotel is always jumping with wood carvers and musicians. The bar is beautiful! There are plenty of restaurants. It is basically a Disney fantasy come to life...After a few minutes you forget you are in Florida all together! Trust me and book this wonderful place today! You will find it both fun and truly educational!
