This is the third Taj Gateway hotel I have stayed in and it is disappointing. A heritage property, the rooms seem to vary greatly. Ours was fine but the finishing touches were missing. For example, we had to ask for hand towels, the bathroom amenity pack was short and there were no dressing gowns as were provided in the other Taj hotels. Dinner, buffet style, was tasty, but several guest complained that the food was not hot. Beware of the bar prices. Imported drinks, and this appears to include those that originate in another state, are rediculously expensive. Some of the cost is tax, but the hotel seems to load the base price. A gin and tonic was 1,000 rupees (about £12.50) and local wine even more. Drinks would probably cost less at the Savoy in London. The Taj Group let's itself down at this hotel.
Visited three years after our last trip and not much has changed. The rooms are still poorly maintained with damp and patchy walls. The food is very average (quite a lousy breakfast actually) and certainly not a hotel one would want to waste one's time in. The neighbouring Taj Gateway property in Coonoor is so many notches better!
Taj Savoy Hotel Located Ooty City very easy to Reach ., While entering we can Very big lawn & Garden Area ., We stayed two days Room was vintage type it’s Memorable Stay ., Dinner we have lawn Party & Breakfast Food Too Good ., One of Best hotel in Ooty .,
So we decided to stay at the Taj Savoy and this was my 3rd visit to Ooty . We always stayed at Gem Park which is also a good hotel but since we were getting rooms at Taj for a good reasonable price we decided to stay at Taj . I stayed at the Taj Savoy for 2 days and 2 nights . It was indeed a beautiful resort I must say and the best place for nature lovers , breaks , get always and a very much peaceful place if you want peace for a few days . It had all facilities like spa centre where my cousin took a full body massage which I guess was below 2000₹ and was worth it and we did do cycling as well as horse riding inside the premises of the resort. It had a game room as well where we you could play carrom board and stuff but not too lively. They had a bonfire at night which was really warm and nice :p . Taj has maintained its standards and the villa we stayed in called as Villa Flora was beautiful and had really good luxurious rooms and were well maintained. Coming to the most important part ,The food so basically we were given complimentary breakfast which was a buffet and we could choose whatever we liked like pancakes or any type of dosa, eggs etc It was delicious but the juices weren’t great not good juices at all :3 they need to make better juices which taste good. This place is like a paradise and you can spot different kinds of flowers and plants if you love nature :p . So eventually it was a really good luxurious stay at the Taj . Hopefully I shall visit again some time soon :)
We stayed in the This property during the Monsoon season of July The Hotel is a little far from the Main Market, and if you want to eat out you have to go to the main market area. The Hotel itself has a Old Heritage Feel to it and its basically in the Form of Cottages lined sequentially. The Cottage we were in was OK, but the wooden Floors creaked here and there, however the Service of Staff was good and prompt. The Breakfast spread was also very Good. Overall a Good stay, however do not expect the regular Tajness here, since this is a bit different from the other Taj Hotels, otherwise you would be left wanting.
We visited ooty in the dashara long weekend, this was our 5th visit to ooty but first time stay in Taj savoy. We earlier stayed in Taj properties in Coorg and Goa and expected a similar expeience with ooty, right from the time we entered the property it was a big disappointment. There is no view from the hotel with houses all around the property, rooms are very average in the name of heritage property. The kids play/activity area is a sham, just to have it as a checklist item. The food is good but obscenely expensive, we are definetely not going back to this place as you have places with beautiful view with walkways and nice surroundings.
The Savoy Hotel of the Taj Group is an excellent abode on the Queen of Hills , Ooty. Set in 6.5 acres, is this pristine hill resort, with cottages of different sizes to suit ones needs. I would recommend this hotel anytime.
Enjoy with Games like cricket and table tennnies . The chef came requested about feed of food and others . The front officer is excllent on this hosiptality, Since iam smoker found difficult to get them .
Beautifully maintained building which was perfectly executed in the art deco style of colonial times. Staff is very friendly and constantly improving through feedback and interaction. Wishing them good luck for their future.
I had an awesome stay at Taj Savoy. While booking I was sceptical if it will be value for money as the hotel was expensive, but post the stay I will say that it was all worth it. Firstly, it's location is fabulous - it's away from madding city traffic and has lovely hill view. Secondly, the room was excellent - very spacious with a sofa in front of a small window as a sitting room. The main room was spacious along with fire-wood space which made the room very cosy in evening. Lastly, the staff were most happy to help and go the extra mail. They immediately served us in room when we could not go to the dining hall, were very prompt and proactive on any need / request by us. Overall, a GREAT experience for us and we'd love to go and stay at this property again. Highly recommended...
