Hotel is about 1.6 km. from the station, so perfectly walkable. Also not too far from a streetcar stop. Across from a university, if that's your destination. Nice and quiet. Very much a no-frills place, in case you are expecting anything in the way of amenities.
Downside: receptionist was not there when I arrived. I had to call the property while stood in the lobby in order for her to come down and check me in. Keep in mind that I arrived during normal reception hours.
Small additional gripe: this hotel has the most awkward and unwieldy room keys I've ever seen. They are attached to a ludicrously long holder that is unlikely to comfortably fit in anyone's pocket.
Overall: I would stay here again, on account of the fact that it is likely to be consistently cheaper than other options due to its location and basic nature. I really hope that the reception issue was a one-off for some reason or another. If reception is consistently like this, then I ultimately can't recommend staying here. If you're a foreign visitor who can't speak any Japanese, it would be a serious problem.
