We spent a week at El Castillo and had one of the best vacations we have ever had. We rented the larger suite in the 8 room boutique hotel. We had a large sitting room, a 5 star bathroom ,and a large bedroom with canopy bed with a small balcony on the Pacific side of the hotel. We didn't spend a lot of time in our room, but it was perfect in every way. The bed was comfortable and the linens were of high quality. The pool and amenities at the hotel are perfect and the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. If you are wondering whether or not you should visit Costa Rica, do it! You won't be sorry! Go to El Castillo. It is worth it!
Wow, words cannot express how amazing our experience was at El Castillo. El Castillo truly knows how to take care of their guests. My husband and I traveled with another couple, we were anxious to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life with kids, jobs, etc. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left everything was PERFECT, there was absolutely nothing that could have been better. The rooms, the property, the staff, the food, the service - everything was top notch. If you are looking for a place to escape and relax this is the place for you. El Castillo took care of everything for us - our daily adventures, meals - both at El Castillo and at other local restaurants, spa services - we truly felt pampered, and more. The staff became like family to us in a very short amount of time - Gerson is such a kind and delightful gentleman. Pablo is an AMAZING chef and even created a one of a kind meal - I like to call it an experience - for us one evening, food not on the menu but from his passion and love for creating wonderful food. We have already booked our time at El Castillo for next year and have decided this will be an annual destination for the 4 of us. A must experience for all! THANK you to all of you at El Castillo - you created a trip of a lifetime for us that will never be forgotten. We adore you guys, XO - Dan, Jessica, Jim, & Staci
Amazing location, wonderful staff, luxurious rooms, in orochal close access to Sierpe, which is just unmissable with speedboat rides on the river Sierpe which takes you to Cano island for snorkeling and Corcovado for the rainforests, beautiful river, rocky sea crossing but superb!! A must do!! Eat a meal at Citrus, great food!
My wife and I stayed at El Castillo for a week and had a wonderful time. The hotel is beautiful, the views are amazing and the food was wonderful. Pablo the new chef is working hard to set a new dining standard for the area and it is working. The best part of the stay was the staff. They were kind, friendly and anticipated and met every need. We have never been in a hotel that treated its guests with such care!
We were very lucky to choose El Castillo as our home away from home for our first trip to Costa Rica. It is probably one of the best small luxury hotels we've ever stayed in. Everything from the little details in the hotels' interior to the staff's friendliest and most efficient attention was top notch! We would like to thank all the wonderful people working at this amazing hotel who made our stay there unforgettable and unique! Staff members - Daniela, Dariel, Carlos and Gerald; Assistant manager - Gerson; General manager - Scott; Housekeeping - Maria and Marlene; Chef - Pablo; Kitchen staff - Jordan, Johan, Melany and Eisman! You all made us feel very welcomed and pleased with everything you did for us! To make my short story long, I must mention that we've stayed at El Castillo Hotel twice already during March 2017... That's because we had it booked for 3 days only at the beginning, then we were supposed to stay at a different hotel, which name I don't even want to mention. It happened to be a disaster, a complete opposite from what we had expected to what we had in El Castillo. So, after one phone call to a dear El Castillo and we were back there with the warmest welcome. It is a rare case when everything at a hotel you've picked for your holidays meets your expectations especially if you are a well-travelled guests like we are, but with El Castillo it is: - breathtaking view where you can watch the sun sinking into the ocean at sunset; - beautifully decorated rooms and lobby; - quality canopy beds, nice bedding and pillows; - off-white fluffy bath towels and most importantly, a good variety of healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Be prepared that Pablo, a young and very talented chef at the Azul restaurant, will amaze you with his culinary creations, like he did for us for my husband's birthday. And Scott made that night even more special by arranging a surprise live entertainment for our special occasion. Something we'll be remembering forever... Needless to say that we'll be coming back to El Castillo as soon as the opportunity comes and we'll recommend it to all our friends! This is the place where you can experience "Pure Life" attitude or "Pura Vida" as they say here in Costa Rica.
From the moment you walk through the front doors there is nothing, you are treated as the most important person. All the staff are simply incredible. Scott the manager of the 7 room boutique hotel will do anything for you and his staff is by far the best I have ever come across. I travel extensively and they can put many international 5 star hotel staffs to shame. Helpful does not even start to explain what they will do for you. Ask and it will be taken care of for you. All their staff is there to make your stay a perfect one in Costa Rica. Each member of the staff is there to make your stay memorable. Their chef Pablo, does amazing things with food. Our only regret is that we have just 2 more days left from this trip. I have never rated a hotel as high as El Castillo. Simple put 8 perfect days in Costa Rica. Thanks for the memories, we will see you next time. M & M Chicago
The chef came to our table, explained the menu to us. He was right on. The best dinner my wife and I had in Costa during our month long stay in CR. The chef new his stuff, the owner came by to say hello, and the service was top notch. Came for dinner, drinks and the beautiful sunset.
We just returned from our second trip to El Castillo. My wife and I had such a great time last year that we had to return with the family this year. Scott, the hotel's General Manager and his staff (Herson, Carlos, Pablo, Daniella, Dariele, Gerald, Melanie and all the kitchen and housekeeping staff) are incredible and take care of your every need. I cannot recommend this property highly enough for a romantic get away or family vacation. You definitely are immersed into the Costa Rican lifestyle and the warmth and sincerity of the staff. We literally were in tears leaving, not saying good bye, but until we meet again. Thanks to everyone at El Castillo for vacation memories that will last a lifetime. Pura Vida.
I just returned from a week long stay at El Castillo, and can't say enough positive things about this beautiful resort!! When we arrived on Friday night, we were immediately welcomed by the staff. Every day, we enjoyed the most delicious breakfast - highly recommend the Tico burrito and the banana pancakes! Then, when we weren't off doing excursions (check out the ATV tour if you're down there!), we relaxed in the gorgeous infinity pool with amazing views of Garza island and the pacific ocean. Every meal we had at El Castillo was incredible - the food is so fresh and delicious! However, the best part of the experience at El Castillo is the incredibly gracious and accommodating staff - we became so close with each of them; a few team members even brought us on a great excursion to a water fall! Huge thank you to everyone who made our stay there the best week ever!! Thank you: Scott, Pablo, Darielle, Daniella, Carlos, Gerson, Melanie, Gerald, Harold, and everyone else on the staff! P.S. If you like bloody mary's, ask Carlos to make you a chilli guarro!
Family and I stayed there for a week, and it was the best hotel I've ever stayed at hands down. Can't say enough about the wait staff there- Carlos, Herson, Dariel, Daniella, Gerald, Pablo, Scott, the entire staff is the absolute best. They truly made our experience at El Castillo. The hotel is gorgeous, with breathtaking views and great rooms. The pool and patio area awesome and great places to get some sun and enjoy the views. This hotel is the best, and made better by the awesome staff!
