You will hear occasional trains passing by that travel from San Diego up the coast. Most locals or guests who stay for long do not even notice it as you get used to it. We recommend keeping windows closed at night to mitigate the sound but you will hear them as it is apart of life for any property that is close to the beach in oceanside. If you'd like to travel up the coast it is a great means of transportation for all!
The apartment is located 1 block to the ocean. Very walkable to the Oceanside Pier.
With the cool ocean breeze 365 days a year it is very common for Southern California homes to not offer central AC. Since we are very close to the beach, you can feel the ocean breeze cools down the home. Each bedroom and the living room is also equipped with ceiling fans in addition to a portable fan we provide. As soon as the Sun goes down the temperature drops and gets very cool. If you still find the need for Air Conditioning, we have a portable standup AC unit setup in the living room for your use.
There is also a wall heater that heats the place nicely if it gets too cool for you. Instructions are provided in welcome message.

This property wishes for 5 stars but it fails to deliver in cleanliness and condition. Sofa and bed sheets are stained, TV/console were dusty, and the property itself is very old.
The listing is advertised as “sleeps 7” but that’s only if you blow up mattresses that are in the closet. The sofa was not a pullout. And there were only 2 towels for all of us to use, so some of us had to buy towels at the Rite Aid down the street.
Security gate works on one end but not the end that’s closest to the unit - anyone can open the gate and walk in.
We rented this place for Galentines for one night and luckily, girlfriends and I all have a good sense of humor, but for those that are expecting the cute photos in the listing, it definitely doesn’t look as cute in person.

Location was exactly as we expected
One block from the ocean! Enjoyed the apartment had all the simple items you typically need. Had no issues with checking in or checking out. Very close to Mission and the strand.

Misleading to say the least
There was poor instructions regarding the gate code (which we never got to work), and the door code. The property definitely does not sleep 7 (or even 4) unless they are planning to put three people in each bed. No checkout instructions were given, and everything in the apartment was very dated.
In addition this property is in a rougher part of the neighborhood and we did not feel comfortable walking to anything. Will not book again given the multitude of options in the area.
Also the 10pm noise rule is a little bit of a head scratcher seeing as its Oceanside Beach not the Oceanside Retirement Community.

Great location but property needs TLC
Photos are very outdated and the property needs a lot of work. Great location but that’s basically the only good thing about this place.
Close to ocean but not really a “beach” area you can actually visit, it’s more of an ocean cliff area.
We were super bummed with this stay and almost went to a hotel because it was very uncomfortable cleanliness wise.
No shade but it was like a motel 6 and just not what we expected. Easily should only be $100 or less per night.
Hope they can remodel and clean it up soon cuz it has potential.
Best of luck Cameron 🙏❤️

Would NOT recommend
Review:
I was charged extra for an early check-in to ensure the cleaning would be expedited, but the apartment was disgusting when we arrived. The furniture was stained and poorly maintained, and the AC unit’s tube wouldn’t connect properly. The floors were filthy, covered in dirt and hair, and the rug reeked of cat pee. The oven didn’t work, and there were barely any utensils available.
The bedding and sheets were stained and dirty, making us uncomfortable even sitting down until we cleaned everything ourselves. We had to go to the store to buy cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and paper towels, as the apartment only had one half-used roll of toilet paper. The bathroom was filthy, with floor mats stained brown and covered in hair. The bathroom window and back door had to be secured shut with wooden blocks, which felt unsafe.
The whole apartment was dusty and gross. On top of that, the neighbors were incredibly rude, coming over to tell us they “decided” we needed to follow a 9 PM curfew because we seemed like an “inconvenient and loud group.”
The property is advertised as beachfront, but the actual beach was several miles away. To make things worse, the door codes didn’t work because the locks needed new batteries, leaving us struggling to unlock the gates even with the passcode.
Overall, this was a very unpleasant stay and a complete waste of money. I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone.

Cozy but still convenient
The property was clean when we arrived. It’s an older lower level apartment that has had some renovations. The kitchen was perfect for us to have basic groceries and snacks to keep when we were coming and going from the beach. There are two bedrooms with queen beds but the listing says it can sleep 7. What I wasn’t sure of was if the couch had a hide away bed, but it turned out it folded down into a futon. There was also a twin air mattress. The beds were not the most comfortable but the sheets were clean, and the blankets in the cupboard needed washing before we used them. The portable air conditioner was in the living room and was fine to cool that space, but the bedrooms were a little hot. The washer and dryer were very convenient, and the private back patio was nice. The fire table was fun but the propane was gone. We weren’t actually there much so it wasn’t a big deal. My only issue was that it is a two-minute walk to the ocean, but not the beach. Two streets from the property is a rocky overlook area that is good for fishing. We still had to go find public parking to go to the Oceanside Strand beach. Overall the location was convenient to the pier and the harbor. Parking was a bit tight in the alley because of trash cans and other residents, but we were still able to make it work. It was a good stay and my family and I enjoyed the property.

Cozy little space
Great location, the train track behind is super quiet, the kitchen is very small but we had no plans of cooking so it worked, only flaw was the back door didn’t lock, so we only used the safety stick they had but we didn’t mind, great little home

A private stay
The property is cozy and private so you won’t be bothered by others. I did head into a few bumps but nothing that can’t be managed. The only bad experience I had was getting my car keyed. Overall, a great stay to rest and enjoy yourself.

Downstairs unit in run down aging apartment building
Disappointed instantly when discovering alley parking along dilapidated garage row. Gated entrance aside garage to run down aging two story apartment building. VRBO unit located at the end. Between residents of other units, and the train tracks behind the building, noise is constant. Unit barely stocked. HOT water barely warm, maybe 85 degrees. Exterior spaces not maintained well. Rusty screen door to greet you. Rusting closet door tracks to go along with no hangers to use. Posted pictures lead you to believe this is a cute little place, but that’s not the experience you’ll get. Bottom line, this VRBO is more about what the owner can get from tourists than it is about providing you a valuable alternative to a hotel.
