Disliked: Cleanliness
This had less of a “charming 3-bedroom house” feel, and more of a “drop in unannounced on your recently divorced friend from college” kind of vibe. The type of person who spends too much on leather furniture and big screen TVs, and not enough on things like functional bathrooms, cleaning supplies, or a proper handyman.We arrived to a dishwasher full of dishes (are they clean? are they dirty?) and wet, slightly smelly sheets in the washer AND dryer. Several of the window/door blinds were broken, including one bedroom where no window coverings existed at all (that guest was waking up with the sun whether they wanted to or not). In the backyard, the furniture was scattered or crushed/tipped, toys were strewn about, and a weight bench looked as if someone ran out, mid-set.But our biggest gripe was the lack of cleanliness. We always remove our shoes before entering someone’s home, but after 15 minutes of exploring the house, we caught sight of the bottoms of our socks. They were blackened from the dust and grime that covered the floors. Everywhere you look, there were splatters, paper wrappers, broken crayons, and even a mystery pill hiding under most of the furniture. The dining room chairs were all stained, both toilets had brown water, and there was dust on every surface. I spent the first two hours of my vacation cleaning and was even charged an extra 200 ahead of our visit because my dog was over the 35lb weight limit. I hope they spend it on cleaning for the next guest.
