Property is old but clean. Not sure how it gets a 9.2 on Hotels, but I’ve always found the site to overhype hotels. There is a musty smell throughout and mildew on the tiling. That said, it was very clean and comfortable so I can’t fault the staff for much.

First things first: the location is THE ONLY problem with this property. The facilities, cleanliness, service, dining, etc. etc. are all top notch. Frankly, I didn’t expect such a great hotel with SUPER sophisticated service in the middle of nowhere in Hokkaido. The staff are attentive, kind and polite, and there is literally nothing to complain about. While the bldg isn’t new by any means, it has been meticulously maintained. With this said, unfortunately, the location is going to be an issue if you aren’t either driving or comfortable taking taxis to go anywhere. It is not within walking distance of the transportation hubs, and the Aeon shopping mall 5 minutes away is the only commercial establishment in the area. So, you are pretty much stuck at the hotel unless you drive/take taxis. Although it is truly an amazing hotel, thus, the location can be a major drawback. As long as you are okay with its location, there won’t be a better hotel.

The tall glass windows in the lobby was relaxing to have afternoon tea while waiting for my room. The staff were very attentive, especially the concierge who saw me struggling with my luggage at my parked vehicle. He ran out with an umbrella to help me in the pouring rain. Room was a bit small but had all the necessities to make a comfortable stay.

Wonderful natural setting in the city

The Hokkaido Hotel is a very beautiful building in a wonderful natural setting, even though it is in the center of the city. The rooms are spacious. Our room had a balcony, but it being winter we didn’t use it. With curtains open it made the room feel even larger. The room was clean, but some of the light fixtures and other features are getting a bit old. The hot spring bath and sauna are the major selling points of the hotel and I can not recommend the enough.

Amazing Hotel!

This is an amazing property. Loved everything about it. People were very helpful and it was easy to check in and out. In addition, we were helped with our luggage to our room to show us how things worked.

The staff are friendly. The hot spring area is quite small, but overall is nice. The shower area has all the Toiletries including towels.

A decent hotel with special moor onsen

Very spacious room (standard twin room booking but received free upgrade). Self drive trip but hotel is near to Obihiro station. Selling point on moor type onsen that is uniqu but scenery of Outdoor onsen is so so. Breakfast came as Western/Japanese sets instead of buffet style. Hotel itself is photogenic with built-in modern church for wedding.

Solid 4-star hotel

5th floor room was in excellent condition, spacious by Japanese standards. Included breakfast (choice of Japanese or Western/Japanese style) was better than average; had a great time watching a tufted squirrel run around the dining area's beautiful garden. For dinner I had the Tokachi Beef at the hotel restaurant to spoil myself--expensive but a true gourmet experience. Sightseeing in the area is mostly absorbing the natural beauty of Tokachi. The hot springs bath area wasn't the newest or most decorative I've been in, but still clean and had a semi-hot bath even I could get in. Definitely recommend the hotel to anyway looking for a comfortable stay.

Nice hotel with a great onsen.

Right from stepping into the lobby we felt this would be a great stay. Professional, prompt and courteous check in. Room was large and comfortable. The onsen was a real treat to soak in after a day of touring and travelling!
