Booked a one bedroomed apartment through booking.com and was disappointed to find it was just a studio unit as there was 3 of us in the same room. I was under the impression that there was a separate bedroom. The owner was very lovely and gave the wifi passwords out on arrival. She did mention that they were in the process of doing the rooms up. Our room hadn't been done up and the condensation was extremely bad. I had my clothes on the floor and the water had run down the walls from the window on to my clothes. We hadn't had a shower in the evening and the heat pump had been left on overnight so that shouldn't have happened. I did mention this on departure and they were very apologetic. I would ask for a renovated room next time.
Room was clean and tidy but quite cold. Heat pumps were a bonus. We werent told about where to find wifi password and had to go ask, finding the phone in our unit proved slightly harder than you would think. We had my elderly mother travelling with us and she found the bathroom floor very slippery after a shower due to condensation settling on floor due to no extractor fan, lighting in bathroom wasnt great either. I think the newer units would be ok, but the older units the bathroom and kitchen need updating.
The rooms were nice, clean and spacious. Beds were very comfortable. Lots of room to park our big vehicles in. The staff were very friendly and eager to please. Will definitely be recommending this place to my friends as affordable accommodation!
Managed to get the last room that night and it had been refurbished so very nice. Extremelly comfortable bed with great pillows (pillows are often a let down in motels). Great off street parking, friendly staff and next door to a bar and restearaunt. Clean and with everything we needed I would go back and stay again. The only let down we found was that the floor above was very creaky and noisy - in saying that it wouldn't stop us going back but may annoy some people.
We left a note with the problems we had. These are maintainace and management problems. The parking was great, as well as the limitless wifi, a manual on how to access the internet would be helpful. Prolly wont be back.
The place is great, clean and nice. Very welcoming host. Specially the breakfast is totally worth it. Heaps to park, can park outside the room without stress. Thumbs up!!! Would definitely go back. Just go town with car if your lazy to walk but it's not that far tho maybe 10 mins walk.
Stayed for a night a couple weeks ago Host was lovely and room was clean spacious warm and comfortable. Sadly only one thing let them down being the young female cleaner yelling out swear words loud enough for the whole place to hear until she was reprimanded by an older cleaner. Not what i would expect from a "family Friendly" motel if i had my children with me i would have left immediately as wherever she went swear words followed maybe only being a teenager (by looks) she hasnt learnt professionalism yet. Hopefully the owners can teach her some or remover her. Other than that issue which may not be a big deal to some the place was value for money and the owners were lovely to deal with would stay again whenever i was in town if issue resolved. Definitely not a reflection on the owner though as she seemed so lovely and im sure disheartened in her staff. But please give this place a try
Our host seem to have a dislike for Poppy's for some reason ? Other than that it was great Great motel for a stopover on the road from Christchurch to Dunedin. The Host is a barrel of laughs, and would love a punnet of Poppy's if your passing..... Even though its on the main road, its very quiet. Had a few sheep out the back, and that made for memories of home. Plenty of hot water for showers at good pressure, and a comfortable bed. Wifi was solid and fast.Right next door is a good Pub/Restaurant with a Bowling Alley to keep the kids quiet. Had a great time.
This was a shocking place. We had drunk men smoking outside our room and knocking on our door because they had the wrong room.Got up in the morning to dirt from a tub on the roof of my car [Holden Cruise]. Dont know where the management was while all this was going on.
Stayed here as it looked as though everything else decent in Oamaru was booked out. Wasn't expecting much, and I was right. Was expensive for what it was. Room was spacious enough, and the bed fairly comfortable. I did enjoy having a Sky decoder with heaps of channels... The shower, while having good pressure, it sprayed in a million different directions, and the bathroom was soaked. Service was average, and the road noise was dreadful. All in all, i wouldn't stay again, but it was liveable for one night. I feel two stars is a fair rating.
