Stayed from 16th to 20th July -Edwards coach tour For a two star I was surprised the hotel was lovely, clean bedroom nice size bathroom flat screen tv coffee tea and biscuits daily. The hotel is situated in a perfect location for sightseeing so close to all the attractions. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating thanks to Steve the chef for cooking different meals to accommodate my health condition and thanks to Charlie the waitress for a great service throughout our stay. The food was very nice plenty of different choices and at breakfast too. The only negative to the stay was the bar and restaurant area is rather small you may have to wait a while for breakfast. I would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

This hotel is located right on the River Ouse next to the central bridge for the city which means it is really easy to get to all the sites and attractions. Most of the popular attractions are walking distance as well as York train Station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was okay but gets very busy so get there early or be prepared to wait, it was never a long wait however. I do have one tip to those booking a room at the Queens Hotel, they still have smoking rooms so when booking make sure you are not booking a smoking room. We booked last minute and a smoking room was the only room available. It did not ruin our experience however as two non smokers it was not ideal. I would like to add the hotel made it very clear it was a smoking room prior to booking.

Our travel agent booked us here and it turned out to be a great location for all the sightseeing attractions we wanted to visit. We arrived before check in and the staff was very accommodating. Breakfast buffet was ok; since we don't eat pork, we were a bit limited but there was cereal, toast, and buns. Room was clean, good-sized and quiet.

Our first time at The Queens Hotel, it was ok for the few days we were there. The room was lovely, very spacious but unfortunately it was a smoking room and it was obvious! However, we booked very last minute and it was the last double room they had so we took it knowing that it was a smoking room. We had the window wide open anyway as it was really warm, the down side to that, however, was the noise from outside - heavy traffic, the pelican crossing and just general noise which went on all the time even during the night! We were bed and breakfast and, sadly, breakfast was a shambles. There weren't enough tables to accommodate everyone so it was a case of waiting in the lounge until a table became free and then we were called. A cooked breakfast was available but, unfortunately, if you didn't want that there were only croissants or toast on offer. Some nice rolls and cheese or cold meats would have been nice. However, the staff were all very nice and friendly and, in its favour, the hotel is in a nice setting with lovely views over the River Ouse but central just the same. All things considered, it was fine for the 3 day stay we had.

This is a no frills hotel that is conveniently located to the train station and other points of interest. Our triple-person room was clean and well maintained. Beds were comfortable and the room was a good size for three adults. While the breakfast buffet was not to our personal liking, most other guests seemed to enjoy it. The only problem we encountered during our stay was the amount of noise at night from the street below. While this hotel certainly met our needs and was reasonably priced, we might seek out a different place in York if we returned in the future.

Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights as part of a coach group (Johnsons). Excellent room, excellent food and good service. Overall near perfect. I had a fantastic room thank you on the ground floor with a river view. Plenty of space, cleaned and serviced to a very high standard. Bathroom was user friendly and shower worked very well. Impressed with the towels and fresh ones were given every day (although I didn't expect it). Pleased there was a non-slip in the bath mat supplied. Dinners were delicious, plenty of choice. Nice to have fruit salad as a dessert option. Breakfasts were also very good. Not much choice of yoghurts and fruit at breakfast nor porridge but breakfast was very good otherwise - the cooked food was freshly cooked. Staff were professional and very helpful.

Stayed at hotel before, great location for seeing attractions in York. As usual all staff provide great service, helpful & friendly. Rooms were clean & tidy, Good variety on the menu for dinner plus plenty of choice at breakfast. Already looking forward to my next visit.

I stayed here with my husband and, to be honest, it wouldn't have been my first choice but York was very busy on the days we wanted to visit so I had little option other than to book The Queens Hotel. We paid £130 per night room only which to me is very overpriced for what we got. Location is great as are the staff but the hotel itself is very dated and needs an overhaul. Our expensive room overlooked a roof. Rooms were basically furnished but the beds were comfortable. Very basic tea and coffee facilities but no water which for the price we paid was disappointing. The TV is tiny and difficult to see from the bed. The bathroom smelled overwhelmingly of damp and the toiletries were very basic. The bar and restaurant area was not very inviting though we didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the food. We have stayed in York on a couple of occasions previously, paying less and receiving much more in return. All in all I would not return to this hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights room only at £130 a night. The Hotel had a coach party in who wer staying bed breakfast and evening meal for less than we paid, I understand there are more of them so the tour operator was entitled to a better rate. The Hotel is in a perfect position for looking around York however it is dated and tired. I expected when I got in the lift to have an option to go to 1974 as that was probably the last time it was updated!! The Receptionist and staff were pleasant, but the Receptionist had to run the bar and Reception which must be down to poor investment. The room was as dated as the rest of the ace and the flat screen TV was no bigger than 24". The floor in the bathroom was peeling up and when we hung a towel on the back of the door the hook fell off, the door itself cost about a tenner. Would not recommend.

We stayed in rooms 44 on 2nd floor and room 68 on 3rd floor. Rooms were very clean. Tea and coffee facilities in rooms. Great river views. Staff very friendly. We requested fresh milk for the rooms, this was provided in a friendly and efficient way. Disabled lift to access 1st floor reception from street. Car park is easily reached and is located under the hotel. Cost is £12.00 PER DAY. This is very reasonable compared to other parking charges in York. Hotel is very well located for accessing york and all the sites and is easily walkable. Breakfast was good but area a bit chaotic. Tea and coffee too close to hot food which caused a bit of a bottle neck of people. Having said this quality of food good and hot.
