This hotel appealed to us because it was in central York and had a car park. Unfortunately the river had risen and flooded the car park, so we were unable to use it. Staff telephoned us in advance to advise us of this, and on arrival directed us to an NCP nearby and we were given a discount. The room was clean, but small and basic with a tiny bathroom. We didn't eat in the evening, but had breakfast. Disappointing that the fruit provided was tinned, not fresh, but eggs were cooked to order, and were delicious.
Fantastic location!situated slap bang in the middle of York, with secure parking added for a fee. Lovely hotel, lovely pleasant staff, super comfy beds, gorgeous breakfasts and you can get served a really nice pint in the bar. Had a smoking room on the top floor, didn't have a river view-but quite glad of that in the end, as i think noise from the revellers walking past would b a huge factor if staying the river side of the hotel.Really enjoyed staying here 😊
We Booked the Queens Hotel well in advance for a Show we were attending at the Weekend only recently.Having stayed at this Hotel before we were well aware how Central it were to Shops,Restaurants,The Minster,Museums, and the Theatre. On this occasion we were allocated a Room on the First Floor, which was a Room with King Size and Single Bed.The Room was most Spacious and very much suited our needs with a Shower over a Bath and Constant Hot Water. We paid for Parking on Arrival and this is located below the actual Hotel itself. The Buffet Breakfast is quite Good too offering Hot and Cold items, and a choice of how Guests would like their Eggs cooked if required. All the staff seem reasonably Friendly especially Elliott, who always seems to be at the Desk on an Evening on our Return, and who is always happy to serve you any Drinks you want whilst being Chatty and Cheerful. He really is a Credit to the Hotel and obviously enjoys his Role there making you feel Welcome and Comfortably at Home.Another Great Weekend Stay and Well Worth a Try if you want some Accommodation that is Central to Everything.
Just got back from 2 nights at the Queens hotel. Very helpful friendly reception staff. Room on 3rd floor was spacious and very clean. Great central location. Breakfast was good value, didnt have an evening meal. On the day of arrival we had a phone call to say the river had burst its bank so unable to use the hotel car park, when we arrived they refunded out prepaid parking and issued a card for the local NCP car park, 5 mins away. The card allowed us a huge discount on our parking charges. Would definitely stay there again.
I booked The Queens Hotel for it is in the centre of York. The deal was £129 for bed breakfast and evening meal then an extra £10 for the overnight car park. The room was clean and everything was fine. The only time we could have evening meal was 8pm which again was nice. Soup for starter, carvery for main and a choice of deserts. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a velux window in the roof however we still had a view of the river Ouze. In the morning whilst getting ready to start the day we had a phone call from the desk telling us that the car park was flooding as the river had burst its banks and would we move the car to a NCP car park about 5mins walk away and we would have to pay for the parking. My partner did this immediately. However after a lovely breakfast i stopped at the desk and asked would i get a refund as it wasn't our fault the river banks had burst its banks and we were paying twice for the car park. We were told no i was not due a refund as the car had been there overnight, We had to pay £7.50 for 3 hrs in the NCP car park whilst we had our breakfast and got our belongings together.. I think under the curcumstances the hotel should have paid for the parking.
3 star at 3 star prices. It is what it is, no frills. Public areas just average but our room was spacious comfortable and clean. The hotel is perfectly located right on the river and close to all the sights. Breakfast is excellent albeit the room is small and can't cope if all guests descend at once. We would return.
We have stayed in many hotels in York over the year's but this overnight stay was exceptional. From the reception staff to the bar staff to breakfast staff this morning so welcoming so comfortable . We would strongly recommend this hotel to any traveller and in future won't be booking any other hotel.
Lovely nice clean rooms. Lovely welcoming staff it's a lovely places to stay at this hotel great full English breakfast too would definitely recommend this hotel 👍🏻😁nice bar too . Close to York river markets shops and bars easy to get around the places and easy to find your way back to base 👌🏻
We were only staying for a couple of nights and stayed in room 49 which was lovely over looking the river. The reception is not exactly what you would expect. It is in need of refurbishment and very untidy. However the ladies behind the reception where lovely. Room 49 is on the second floor and does have a very nice view over the river but apart from that and very nice clean sheets and towels the rest of the room is basic and very 80's The furniture is old and tired and I cant find anything else to say that is kind. The bathroom was much the same. The bath which was iron had lots of bits of the enamel off the bottom which looked nasty and around the bath handles looks grotty. It was clean enough but just not nice. We came to be staying at this hotel through woucher and it cost us 129.00 for two nights with breakfast. At that price it was ok but if I had paid double that I would not have been happy. Breakfast was 'beige' nothing continental but wasn't too bad in taste.
We met for a family reunion and helpful staff made the visit for us. The hotel itself is partly refurbished. Parts badly in need of upgrading. Chairs in the public area were collapsed and worn. Rooms were large, spotlessly clean, but rather sparse in furnishing. The included toiletries were a bottle of hand wash and one of shower gel, which was to double up for shampoo. Although there was plenty of room in the bedrooms they had only 2 seats, no armchairs. The TV was small and poor quality. However we were served very well by pleasant local staff, who went out of their way, serving hot drinks when the bar was officially not open. While we were there a coach party was there, so meal times and breakfast were rather crowded. Food was OK, rather than good, but not expensive for the centre of the city. Everywhere is within quite easy walking distance, and nice views of the river from the bar area.
