Quite expensive for the service received. Like a lot of hotels, the staff try their best, but can be limited by their training and/or ability. The dining room always seemed to be running with at least one person down. This meant that basics, at breakfast for example, "Would you like tea or coffee?", were often missed. Definitely would not stay there when not on business. but if the company is paying will stay again, primarily due to the lack of competition in the area.
Been there many of times and Always had a nice meal very clean and nice staff. Rooms are nice and clean and modern with perfect location walking distance to train station and town centre and hospital across the road.
My partner and I stayed here for one night, on a Saturday. For the price we paid, we were stunned by how beautiful the rooms were. Spacious, clean and modern, we loved it the second we walked in. The sky tv was a plus too. Lots available to watch. Overall we were really impressed. Easy to find, very friendly staff. Great place. Would definitely recommend.
A very satisfactory two night stay. Rooms are great, breakfast great too although perhaps the tables could have been cleared a little quicker to ensure clean tables on arrival at breakfast. This happened on my second morning where I had to move used crockery before my colleague and I could sit down.
Stayed here for 1 night on a Christmas shopping weekend with Welsh's coach's. Given room 117. Room was beautiful & spacious bathroom beautiful clean towels etc. Dinner was lovely & piping hot. Staff behind the bar useless & we stood ages to be served while she carried on a conversation with someone who had obviously stayed before. Looked at me gawmless when I asked for drinks. As I'd had a 5am start to my day I went to bed by 10.30. Omg! The noise from the function room was really loud & there was a band on & we could hear every word of the song! We were given no prior warning which I have been in other Ramada hotels when they have functions on. I called reception & complained as it was still going on at 00.15am! Totally fuming. I would expect a 4* hotel to have rooms away from noise like this. I've had better nights sleep in a Travelodge! If your expecting a decent nights sleep in room 117 when there's a function on forget it! What a shame....a beautiful hotel. Feel totally let down.
I recently stayed at the Ranada with a large group of friends. We all commented on this hotel as being a real gem. An efficient check in for around 34 of us, was followed by the surprise of our beautifully appointed rooms. We had anticipated a good standard, but were thrilled to have such magnificent facilities. Meals were sever in a pleasant Dining Room where the staff were uniformly pleasant. Very good standard of means during our stay where the lady overseeing the food service could not have done more for us. If travelling in the area again I will unreservedly stay here and shall recommend that others do too.
Had a lovely welcome from staff etc. Went to my room unpacked. Showered. Only to come out to a random child in my room. They'd only gone and give a key to my room to some kid! Unprofessional and unreliable! Will be keeping a record of anything missing!! Menu is ridiculously priced and nothing for your money. Tv has no signal on any channel. Close to town centre that's it. Have stayed at 2* places better than this!!
I meet my friends here every month for food and a drink , the staff are excellent and cannot do enough for you the food is also delicious with a large range of items on the bar menu , I would definitely recommend this hotel
Booking in to the Ramada was a joy. I was made very welcome, very well informed and even had my poor hearing taken into account by the helpful receptionist. My room was spotless , just the right temperature but somewhat dark when all the lights were on. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast, as with a lot of cooked breakfasts in the U.K. Was a hit and miss affair. Some staff served you a beverage while other staff on a different day didn't. All the eggs were over cooked , bacon was broiled rather that fried or grilled. No one seems to know how to cook a breakfast tomatoe. Cut them across the tomatoe, put them on a tray and cook them in an over. Get the timing right and they come out right every time! While meals were available in both the main dinning room and the bar all were of a poor standard. The chicken pie would have been better employed as a door stop. The pastry was rock hard ,the contents dry and with virtually no sauce . Vegetables were too close to being raw for my pallet. Perhaps the timer on the combi over needs looking at. My encounter with the Traditional fish and chips again left me less than happy so apart from breakfast I eat out. Staff were a joy . Nothing too much trouble, very polite and friendly.
I found the hotel to be of a great standard. Room was good and the bed comfortable. No complaints!
