Have attended annually but my last review in 2013 was not a glowing report. I have to say things have got a lot better in terms of food temperature and serving on hot plates. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the occasion. Have not needed to stay overnight to attend as I live locally so am unable to comment on bedrooms.
Great hotel with lovely big stylish rooms and comfy beds. Nice extra touches with complimenry toiletries and easy access to ice machine in corridor, staff very helpful. Quiet hotel overall highly recommended 10/10
Stayed at the hotel 22/23 Jan 18. Evening receptionist rude. Found blood on towels. Food poor quality, breakfast low standard and cold. Lunch over cooked. Ordered room service at 23.08, called 00.45 they forgot to pass order over, arrived 01:20 order completely wrong plus sandwiches had no pickle as described..Lots more on top of this such as paid 20.00 for use if mini bar, then told mini bar not available. Bar staff disappearing for 15 minutes clearing pots, 3 people stood round waiting for a drink. Shower luke warm. Upgraded to executive suite, couldn’t see difference from standard room other than CD player, slippers and bathrobe. Hairdryer not working. List was endless.
A good sized, comfortable room and a pleasantly clean and bright hotel are the highlights. The staff were efficient but looked unhappy which was a shame. The worst feature was the breakfast which looked tired in the buffet at 8.00 am. Not good enough at £85 a night. Nice and quiet though and locals assured me this is the best hotel in Wrexham!
Great hotel with excellent staff, lovely clean and spacious rooms. Really nice small hotel bar with good selection of drinks and food and were not too expensive. Lovely products in bathroom, so you don't need to take your own toiletries, there is a hairdryer and also an iron aND IRONING BOARD.
Nice looking hotel but room rather grubby. Stained bedcover was not changed after we complained. Dinner good but breakfast on first day cold. Generally uninspiring but better that sleeping rough
Stayed here one night with work. Upgraded to an exec room which was a decent size, bed was comfy and bathroom clean. Had a meal in the bar which was hot, tasty and not bad price for a hotel. Breakfast next day was pretty good although not as much choice as some hotels. Staff were all very friendly. A couple of minor gripes. It’s a bit outside Wrexham with nothing nearby, no plug sockets next to the bed for charging phones and a shower curtain in the bath/shower which is a personal pet hate of mine!
Really I can't fault anything: excellent service all round; however, there was, exceptionally, one problem: on Thursday 7th December (I think) we had a meal at the hotel restaurant: presumably you'll have a record of this. Right from the beginning, I asked for spoons for both of us in particular, but only my wife was given a spoon. At the end of the meal I mentioned this to the waiter. I don't think he apologised, although he might have murmured something to that effect, I'm not sure. He duly brought the bill. It was for about £35, including something saying “20% VAT”, i.e. roughly £30 plus suggested tip, as I assumed. I gave him £40, and he asked, “Do you want change?” Of course, I said that I did. After all, I wasn't going to tip him nearly 25% for faulty service! After that he actually brought nearly ten pounds and slapped it rudely down on the table without so much as a thank you. Of course, given this attitude, I was hardly in the mood to say, “Well, actually I want to give you the standard tip but nothing over and above that.” I was just heartily sick of the situation so I took the change he had given me and left. It seems to me that there ought to be a way for the customer to give the standard tip without being expected to give something grossly overinflated (except for superlative service, which I didn't get on that occasion), that’s all. By the way, I've found it a little bit difficult to fill in some of the below because everything really was excellent, except for this one most unsatisfactory incident. For example, I certainly would be totally happy to recommend the hotel if that one particular problem hadn't occurred.
One of the best hotel stays for business trips in recent memory. Located at the edge of a business park, next to the main road, makes this probably more suited to those travelling by road or on work-related travel. The staff were excellent and friendly, from a warm check-in to the friendly breakfast service. The room was well laid out and modern, and bathroom in nearly new condition. The bar food, very rare for a chain hotel, was tasty and reasonably priced. The only minor points were the serving of food being a little chaotic (order at bar but brought through by restaurant staff, with some confusion over who'd ordered and getting cutlery etc.). and no power points for plugging in laptops etc. in public areas - making it a bit of a hassle having a coffee and catching up on work.
The staff were friendly, the large rooms are well decorated with a desk and chair very useful for working. We had a nice meal which was reasonable for a hotel. Only criticisms relate to the temperature of the room which was on the cold side despite trying to adjust the room controls. It was a cold November night but several of my colleagues had same issue. The bed was rather uncomfortable as springs could be felt through the mattress so didn't sleep that well. Overall staff were attentive and wiling to help and I would stay there again.
