The place is very beautiful, grounds well kept, rooms clean, A/C great, swimming pool and hot tub awesome and housekeeping great. Those were the pros. The cons out weighed the pros. It is approximately a 30-35 minute drive from the main paved road and when you turn into the property the roads get much worse esp. in the rain (better have a 4 wheel drive), The closest restaurant is at least 40-50 minutes away (the food wasn't that good), At night, I tried duct taping the bottom door cracks so the insects wouldn't come in (it only happened at night) and the beach really is nice to look at but take care when getting into the water (dark sand beach and the current was rough).
If you are looking for a calm place this hotel is highly recommended! Perfect place for groups. Went with friends and the villas are spacious, nicely decorated and the hotel has all the amenities necessary: - Pool area is cool, staff is excellent and friendly (they gave us courtesy coconuts at the pool). - The beach is right there and it's the perfect place to relax. Expect beautiful sunsets. - Food is great! Peruvian style cuisine (approved by one of my Peruvian friends). - Ask for a kayak at the desk and go for a ride! - Nice small gym if you are in the mood. Definitely going back soon!
I have been staying at Azul Ocean Club in Guanacste, Costa Rica. This place is beautiful. It's a boutique Hotel. Beautiful Villas perfect for a family or group of friends. It's right on the beach, the restaurant food quality is fantastic. Pool with wet bar are great as well. There are plenty of other beaches nearby for those who want to be more adventurous. Tons of surfing spots. Highly recommended. Best Hotel in this part of Costa Rica.
We needed a break from work and school, and that's exactly what we got. Nice villas, with two rooms and a small kitchen.....just hanging there is great. The hotel has a relaxing swimming pool, safe for children any age...but with a well served wet bar! If you want to indulge yourself in the mornings, there are many different options for breakfast at the Azul Restaurant. Lunch at the Seaside is good, and so is dinning at the main restaurant. Service was good, although a bit scarce because of the low season. A bit of patience doesn't hurt. Azul beach is nice for surfing or boogie boarding. San Juanillo, just 15 min driving time is a beautiful white sand beach with great snorkeling opportunities. We had lots of fun there. Overall, a great experience, we will definitely be back.
I stayed at the end of October 2017 and it was amazing! The hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway or family/group trip if you desire to spend quality time with your group. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were nothing, but beautiful and clean. The property was well maintained, the pool area is really nice and even better at night and also have a swim-up bar. There is a breakfast menu that is free and included; however, there is other options available for additional cost. The hotel is off by itself, but if you have a rental car (I highly recommend some sore of SUV) you will be free to drive around. The road to the hotel can be a little rough for the first time, so I recommend traveling to hotel in day light. At night it can be dark, rainy, and bit scary at first, but after that first time you will know what to aspect. Over all I am looking to go back to Costa Rica and stay for 7 days instead of 4, because it has some much to offer.
Azul elicits different emotions. We were initially scared about some of the reviews, but we had a very enjoyable time. If you are looking for a hotel on the beach and you plan to stay all day in the hotel's beach, this is not your place. This hotel is on a beach, but not a beach you'd like to travel to. To me, this hotel is ideal for families or for people who want to travel around Guanacaste. The roads in Guanacaste are HORRENDOUS. But, if you have a rented 4 by 4, who cares? You are close (within 1 to 2 hours) to very beautiful and diverse beaches such as Samara, Tamarindo, etc. Closer, nice beaches are also around. What is great? The property is, excluding the roads, in great shape. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Some have hammocks, some do not. The pool and swim up bar are nice and the gardens gorgeous. Sunset time is lovely. And all workers are super nice. What could be better? The menu in the restaurant is OK but the menu very limited and does not change frequently. Also, although the breakfast is supposed to be included, only certain things are. For other stuff, what you really want to eat, you have to pay a surcharge. Pathetic fact: you are surrounded by beautiful fruit trees but the fruit at breakfast is like what you would get in any hotel in South Dakota. And the service is sooooo slow. This has nothing to do with the people working but rather, with management when they do not increase the number of workers in high season. Yes, Easter comes every year and you guys will be full. If you want to have a drink late at night, you are own your own. The bar/restaurant closes early (9:30).
Just left after three days here. Really enjoyed this laid back, off the beaten path spot. Staff attentive, friendly and helpful. Pool a delight and for the most part we had it to ourselves. Breakfast menu which was included, was more than adequate though you can order from more extensive. Room and service was very comfortable, beach lovely to walk but not available for swimming, or kayaking though kayaks are available for use. Gravel road was a challenge simply because I happened to be nursing a broken rib, otherwise it is like any other, rough but worth the destination. Balcony offered superb views of 3 am electrical storms over the Pacific as I was awoken two nights out of three, awesome. Also, i simply fell in love with each and every iguana. Recommended by me!
I found this place in trip advisor as I was looking something close to Marbella. The hotel is perfect for families with children, the pool for them is huge and nice, same for the adults one. The cabanas are excellent, bed soft and cozy, you have everything you need to prepare your own food, but if you don't want , they v have a great restaurant, the food was delicious, gourmet and with affordable price compared with other similar restaurants in.Guanacaste. Highly recommended!!
We stayed at this place for a couple of nights. From what we had read on the internet we were expecting something different. We arrived at a resort style venue instead of a boutique hotel. Clearly the focus was on families with children and not a quiet romantic getaway for couples. Nonetheless the personal was friendly, rooms were very clean and the price was very reasonable for what you got. The balcony was a nice plus and the beach was amazing and a perfect spot for a beautiful sunset.
My family and I went having lunch at the restaurant by the swimming pool. Even though the fruit juices were delicious and that the place was marvellous, food was a disaster. You obviously expect a hight quality of food when you are at a 5 star resort. I ordered a ham and cheese pizza and only received a pizza with a few slices of ham and an enormous amount of cheese, which was not good. Mushrooms were apparently missing and no substitutes were proposed. Last but not least, we had to wait for more than an hour. The service was ok. Overall, quite a disappointing experience.
