My wife and I spent 6 nights at Chateau De Raay! We were offered an upgrade to a suite for 10€ per night. We accepted and was very pleased with our room. The Bed was comfortable, the room spacious, and the bathroom was big and the double bathtub was a special bonus. The meals were prepared with amazing presentation and absolutely delicious. It is more on the expensive side but it is a Luxery Hotel. The grounds are beautiful and a quite and peaceful setting. We loved our stay there and highly recommend for a romantic get away.
Stopped here for one night on the way to CZ. There were 5 couples all in open topped sportscars. Parking was close to hotel and private as the hotel is in its own grounds. In the old part of the hotel they have added AC, however, in the new part where our room was there was no AC and as the temp was low 30 degs it was quite uncomfortable. We had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent. If there had been AC in the new rooms then my score would have been 5 stars
I don't think I have ever stayed at a hotel before where the staff have all been so friendly and helpful - very impressive. The hotel is also very unique and has a lovely feel about it. The restaurant was very busy in the evening which made it quite noisy, but they handled the food for our large group very well. The quality of the food was fantastic, but the portion size was somewhat on the small size (fill up on the bread provided!) and too lacking in vegetables for my liking. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and there was plenty of comfortable seating to sit outside. My room was of standard business quality. The only downside was that other than a very small vent from the Velux window, for safety and security reasons I was unable to leave the door to the balcony open to cool the room down when I went to dinner and overnight. The balcony was shared by the room next door with just a low fence between the two which could have been easily climbed over. As all of the rooms vary so much is design and location due to the unique building, this would not be a common issue with the other rooms. Also, if one of my colleagues had been allocated that room then it would not have been an issue. Connection to the wifi was easy and there seemed to be a good connectivity throughout. It would be a lovely hotel to stay in for a personal stay as well as for a business trip.
this place is a perfect hide-away for the weekend. Close to Roermond, Venlo and the Ruhr-Valley but still feels like "in the middle of nature" (even with an Aldi 200 meters away..) The historic complex (1250!!) is beautiful and has been very well renovated and all major buildings are connected by the large wintergarden that also acts as the main dining room. Superb atmosphere! The restaurant offers an exquisite choice of "burgundy" style food. The 3-5 course dinners are far from being overpriced. The winelist is comparably small but well balanced. The chef and his/her crew are doing a great job indeed. Food & wine was excellent. Service a bit stressed but still friendly and helpful. Room (Castle, Superior) has been spacious with a nice bathroom and a comfy bed. All very clean. Room decoration more minimalistic than expected (the building should have offered more potential to work with some old materials) - but nice. Only the hotel-directors attention to detail lacks a bit behind: - splinters of glass on the breakfast terrace - a noisy and non classy air conditioner with even more annoying condensate pump - the AC remote control did not work and had to be exchanged - the safe was locked when we arrived - couldn't use it - the windows don't open fully due to the curtain rail - the showers installations are cheapish DIY-stuff - all (!) lamp shades in the room were either loose or damaged or both - not even water in the mini bar - the wardrobe needed some force to be closed All by itself no reason for complaining... Don't get me wrong: I can absolutely recommend this place. But I also recommend the hotel director to increase frequency of inspections and take customers feedback into consideration
Great Location and surrounding, Close enough for a beautiful tour by bicycle, which you can rent at the Hotel. Shopping opportunities ( Nice Restaurant, good selection of meals and wines all over a very pleasant stay
Very cool hotel with an interesting mix of modern and old world charm. Clean, comfortable and large rooms. Grounds are beautiful. The restaurant had a very cool interior but a bizarre menu with food that was much prettier than delicious. I wouldn't eat there again but would definitely stay the night and enjoy the rest of the experience. The staff was really nice and pleasant.
It is the 4th time we have stayed at the chateaux during our business trips to Venlo. It is really like coming home. The staff is very friendly and helpful and were very attentive to our diatery needs from our very first visit. The rooms are clean and spacey and very comfortable. The hotel has the right atmosphere to come down after a very busy day. We highly recommend this hotel.
great location, amazing breakfast, we will definitely be back. The fridge in the room wasn't working, but besides that , everything was great. Friendly staff, good cooks. Baarlo is a very nice village.
Fairly hard to get to as the access road to the hotel from the main road is for cyclists and pedestrians only so you have to navigate through a small residential area which leads to a cobbled road giving access to the rear of the hotel. Breakfast is OK, no 'English Breakfast' option, only eggs and 'continental' bacon (streaky bacon very well cooked!!), great if you like bread, ham and cheese. Bathrooms are modern and clean, BBC1 and BBC2 available on room TV, small fridge/cooler in room, however room was never vacuumed during my 4 day stay. Only stayed here because of location, however very good value for money. Would probably stay again.
Great location for a weekend-stay in connection with business-doing. Perfect breakfast, helpful and very polite staff. German TV doesn't work. Noise abatement could be much better (noise like shower or bathing activities from neighbour-rooms)
