This place is just minutes from Palm Beach but quiet and peaceful. Great Manager and staff, rooms are well maintained and very clean. Direct ocean view with best sunsets ever! I have been going to Aruba since 1997 and this is the best place I have stayed. Wish I had stayed here earlier. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
We got here with high expectations since the reviews on Tripadvisor says 4 out of 5 rating. But no… The rooms are really worn down. Furniture must be 20-30 years old. Cleaning staff is doing a great job making the old rooms feel fresh. The images on their website looks so much better than reality. The location is good with nice views over the sea. But the road that is described as a "small road" is full of heavy traffic from early morning until late night. It might look like the place is situated on the beach but it's not. You have this road right outside with thousands of cars, buses and ATV's going back and forth all day long. The beach is not really a beach and you can't take a swim. At least not without shoes on your feet. You have to go down to High Rise Hotels to get to a better beach. Staff is only available between 9am - 4pm and you need a rental car if you're not into public transportation by bus to the supermarket etc. ----- More important than anything else ----- IF YOU ARE A REAL WINDSURFER = DON'T GO HERE! The equipment is really old. Newest board is about 10 years old, other boards at least 15-20 years old. Sails are OK but rigged totally wrong. This guy Phil, the owner, won't let you change anything like downhaul or outhaul and since the wind is really gusty you can't catch it the right way since your sail is as flat as a wooden table. In fact you will have better windsurfing on a wooden table than with this equipment. Be careful on the water, it's likely that the gear will break down on you while you are out on the water. They have no rescue boats or anything else to help you if you are in trouble. Wind blows from shore so next stop is Panama. BE CAREFUL! They write on their website: "We have the largest and finest selection of windsurfing equipment in the Caribbean." HAHAHAHA, that must be a joke?! They should give people money back since trying to fool them like this. As written above - the gear is 10-20 years old and they have like 2-3 sails in a couple of different sail sizes. Maybe thats the reason to why they have no pictures of the windsurfing equipment on their website? If you are going here to windsurf you should ask them to take pictures of the gear and email it to you. Walk down to Vela Aruba if you want to go windsurfing with modern equipment. Or even better, go to another island in the Caribbean if you really want the best windsurfing possible. This place has got a great potential and it's sad to see that they run their business like they do. The only reason to give Aruba Beach Villas more than 1 out of 5 rating is the view over the sea. And the cleaning staff that is doing a hell of a job to keep this worn down place as good as possible.
We just got back from Aruba yesterday, after 10 days of a miserable experience, thanks to Aruba Beach Villas. If there was a zero on this review board, they would get it. I prepared a video/slideshow of most things that troubled us, but am frankly, amazed at this operation. When every other establishment is booked solid, this one remained pretty much empty. I spoke to other 'guests' and they reported back with negative comments, so I'm amazed at some of the good comments on this board. They are very suspect as far as I'm concerned and like the web page - staged. The owner/manager Phil is argumentative, and has no idea how to run a business. He botches up everything just to keep it running. The place has good potential but these folks won't even replace a $10 mini blind, and actually water down dish washing soap. You won't get shampoo, will find a bare minimum of utensils. I got bitten on my foot at the swimming pool by ants. I doubt the rooms have been fumigated. All they have to do is clean the place up, get some decent fixtures, replace all the 'garage sale' oddments furniture, paint everything and they'd attract more customers and make a lot more money. Something seriously wrong with the thinking here, even the employees say so. Have contacted credit card company for a refund. I made a video of this, and put it on youtube. If you are visiting Aruba, watch the restaurants, they charge you a 15% Service Charge, and then leave a space for a tip. The 'service Charge' is not a TAX like VAT or GST - it's a tip, so you end up tipping twice. Draw a line across the tip slot. Good luck, I won't be back!
This motel is in need of a major renovation. The beach view is excellent, the road between the motel and see is heavely trafficed. You are offered to let winsurfing equipment, 15-20 years old, you are not allowed to adjust settings as outhaul tension and footstrap possisions. If you enjoy windsurfing Vela i situated at the beach a few hundred meters south of the motel they offer modern equipment and will help you get your ger set up according to your needs.
Badly needs updating entire property is being run with no respect for its potential, needs TLC badly ,escpecially I went to windsurf and the boards were 10 to 20 years old some soft and ready for dumpster ,few had any sort of non skid left on deck. Sails were newer but only 2 or 3 good ones in each size ,and if you removed the 100 pounds of positive outhaul on boom to give the sail needed wing shape, you got yelled at and threatened that you will be renting gear from down the beach. Also returned gear 10minutes after closing time turned out to be a terrible no no . overall OK time but far from paradise
The beach villas are maybe not very modern, but the cabins are nice, well-equiped, nicely situated (we had one with beach view) and quiet. We have been there for a week and enjoyed our stay. For people who like to go out, the high rise hotels are close by and those who like tranquility, the northern beaches are not far away.
Very out dated, we got a room for just one night (extra night due to flight scheduled) , and for this purpose it was fine. Overall location is great, The gentleman running it was also great, they operate by trust and that is worth a lot to me. The rooms need upgrading badly, and there were way to many cats (1/2 feral?) all over the place. If I needed just a quick one night or two this is fine, would be hard pressed to want to stay for a whole vacation.
I got the ocean view 1 bedroom. If you do not mind having everything upgraded or having top notch appliances, then this will be great. The TV felt from the 1980s as well as the coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, the bedside lights, the couch, and the bed. But the bedsheet had the little wires that tickled me when i woke up (not good). It is a good 20 feet to the actual shore, but there are fishes. There is also air conditioning to keep the room cool, and you can park you car directly infront (about 10 feet from the door). They also fix your room while we were out. They also have wifi so you can still have service. I enjoyed it bc it was simplistic and average. I dont always need 5 star hotels with other people. In fact i think there wasnt anyone on either side of me. In addition, in a weird way, i love the fact that the receptionist knew who we were before i even said i was going to check in.
Wow, where to even start. I will do this in list for. 1. The actual room is disgusting. First thing we noticed was the overwhelming smell of cleaner trying to mask the musty old smell. 2. Old! Everything in the room was at least thirty years old. Floors, counters, appliances, everything. 3. Bars on all the doors and windows. They have a list in the room of things you shouldn't do in order to not get robbed or have your things stolen. Very disconcerting. 4. This is in no way shape or form a beach front Villa. The "beach" is a rocky deposit from the extremely shallow and unswimable water line across from the "resort". If you look closely at the pictures you will see the major highway separating the "resort" from the "beach". The beach of full of ocean deposits of coral and palm debris. There is no way any sane person would ever spend more than thirty seconds at this spot. They make the pictures look like the doors open right onto the beach when in reality it is separated by one of Arubas major and most busy highways and a parking lot. 5. Under no circumstances what so ever should you ever stay at this place. It is a digusting horrible place ran by an immoral owner who thrives on baiting people into staying here. After we dicovered this place was terrible we asked for our money back and the owner refused. One of the worst accommodations you can get on the island. The local government should shut this place down, I don't understand how they are still operational.
The property was fine for us - kind of 1960's motel style. The room was dated but we enjoyed sitting on the little patio outside our door watching the windsurfers. The location is good, with parking right in front of the room. The beach area is not good for swimming or even lounging - very narrow and rocky. But Palm Beach an easy 15 minute walk away and about 15 minutes in the other direction, at Boca Catalina, is excellent snorkeling. Many restaurants and the grocery were 15 to 20 minutes by car. It's a very safe area close to neighborhood homes and other small motel type rentals. Overall though, I thought the cost was high for this place and would probably not come back.
