STAFF: very welcoming and accommodating. GREAT LOCATION: 5mins walk to beach. 20mins from Airport. PROPERTY: single room abit on the small side; but the double and triple/family rooms are quite spacious. No pool or spa or on-site restaurant; but walking distance from an array of seafront and street cafes and restsuraunts of varying price ranges. WIFI: free but temperamental.
Very old smelling hotel, nasty workers. We traveled as a group of three people, and they gave us this old dirty room on a forth floor, the carpet had stains, the curtains had black stains, the walls were very old and had holes, the bathroom was horrible, no curtains in the shower, please, if you are a family of three people, don't go there!
The bedrooms were new and classy and extremely comfortable, the decorations were spot on and very up to date, enjoyed the small balcony, the bathroom could kf been a bit bigger but even so it was still perfect, the staff were very nice and spoke well english and it's a lovely area near the beach
Nobody must take the boring breakfast in the Hotel Locarno, whereas so many lovely little boulangeries are all around. Nevertheless, I've had some stays in Nice at the Locarno's within the last 20 years, and I may perceive: a quite good hotel with a very friendly staff. I'll be glad to come back in again.
Enjoyed staying at the hotel - comfortable, clean and friendly staff! The location was not too central which was good. The proximity to the bus stop from/to the airport was very good. Really enjoyed staying close to the promenade but not close to the busy restaurants.
A perfect located hotel with a basic doublebedroom, including a refrigerator, much more than adequate. All the staff from the maiden to the reception is very friendly and helpful. One day I asked if they could help me with printing data, it was no problem at all. Wifi in all area. I recommend this to all people. Thank you Locarno, room 26 in April. ☺️
Although the hotel was undergoing some serious renovation work, we weren't disturbed during our short stay. The room was basic but more than adequate for the price we paid. Personally, I loved the old world feel of the hotel. It was really French and rather than just being another nondescript chain hotel, it had real character - down to the peeling paint on the window shutters. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The surrounding area was unusual and there was a lot of construction work going on there too. Once away from that, after walking along to the Plaza Massena, about a twenty minutes stroll, we got a real taste of Nice. Great shopping on the main street. What was over-priced were the restaurants. Minimal menus with either beef tartar cooked (hamburger) or raw, even though it was pretty tasty, at twenty euros a go and pizzas at the same price, they didn't appetise. None of the expected exceptional French gastronomy anywhere. Worth a visit was the citadel in the old town. Beautiful views of the whole area. Don't miss the free lift up if you're not into climbing stairs. Would I go back? Yes, if the restaurants got their act together.
the quality of the service are very fine and the personnel is very amable. totally recomand this hotel due to the location and services. they have a small problem with the wireless internet connexion, but I think this is a minor bug and they will fix it.
We are a young couple and were staying in a hostel not far away, having had the worst experience of our lives staying there we escaped and after much searching with very heavy luggage we discovered The Locarno and it was perfect, we entered and the gentleman at the desk (who's name I forgotten to ask for!) was so nice, such a lovely man, so friendly, warm and welcoming. He was unbeknownst to the fact we had already spent two days in Nice and because of his hospitality made us feel like we could give the city a second chance, a fresh start! To a British citizen this place would seem like an adverage hotel in the country but honestly looking at it through our eyes it was brilliant! so clean and staff were friendly room was lovely, so homely and comfortable. It gave the Nice a second chance for us and in all honesty we were sad to leave it but so pleased to say that we stayed there and would happily go again, thank you so much for your hospitality and care, Nice is very lucky to have you!
I wish that I could give this place NO stars. Please read ALL of the following and look at my pictures before booking!!!! First off, the rooms smell awful due to being damp and there is black mold along with a stench that comes from the toilets. We changed rooms to one with a balcony since the first one was so bad and felt like being in an attic. The first room's bathroom had so much mold, it was even all over the hairdryer's cord. The second room still smelled and we found a few bugs on the wall and near the toilet. The hairdryers didn't work. The glass in the door to the bathroom was installed wrong so the people in the bathroom can't see out but your partner can see everything as you use the bathroom. The worst though was that the beds were disgusting. There were stains on the sheets so I got new ones and had to make my bed myself. In the 6 days that we were there, the sheets weren't changed. They always made the beds so that the sheets were folded under the gross blanket and the pillows laid on top of the dirty worn out blanket. Then when getting into bed the last night I felt something sharp between the sheet and the mattress pad and it was A TOENAIL CLIPPING!!! There is a safe that even my engineer boyfriend couldn't figure out how to program and only one power outlet worked in the room (the second was broken). The carpet was old and gross (I do not suggest walking barefoot). Oh and the WiFi is unreliable and disconnects about every five minutes prompting you to put in a new password that they change daily. Breakfast consists of 2 croissants and a hard mini baguette which often was clearly reheated in a microwave from the day before as it was warm and soft in the middle but inedible on the ends. You only get jelly for them and cheese costs three euros extra. The decoration (the least of our problems) did not match at all and it also looked like they bought pictures and wall lamps from a dollar store that belonged in a Vietnamese nail salon. The ONLY good thing was the staff at the desk, especially at night. Spend the extra money for a better hotel.
