They cancelled my reservation without warning; I called to find out why and learned that they tried to charge 75€, failed to do so (I use that card for various online purchases, don't keep much money on it to prevent fraud), and automatically cancelled the reservation without contacting me first. This, despite the fact that their website explicitly claims that they won't charge your card and you pay everything upon arrival. They said I should re-reserve on the website or send them card details on email; but in the meanwhile, they increased the price on the website, and would no longer respond to my emails. Overall, very lousy experience.
Pros of my stay: the Receptionist let me move rooms away from the first one I was in where the industrial fan outside the window made a constant buzzing. It is very centrally located- although not in the old town if that's what you want. The Receptionists in general were quite stern, definitely not overly friendly. For instance, when I had to pay the city tax on check out and I handed over cash, she seemed quite angry that she would now need to rustle up change. I was in a rush so just said OK I'll pay on card but it shouldn't really be me who has to find a solution! The decor around the hotel is pretty dated and you could tell the fittings in the room had been there a long time. I love leaving positive reviews but I'm afraid I wouldn't rush to recommend this place.
Me and my partner came here for a weekend break away. The location was great - right in the centre of town which was perfect for us. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. If you are looking for somewhere to sleep at night and explore in the day, I would highly recommend staying here. The only issues we had was that our room had a peculiar smell, which was a little off putting and my reason for just an average rating!
Very good, budget hotel! Were with my wife in December. The rooms are small, but there is everything you need. Bathroom is well equipped, new plumbing. Cleanly. The street is quiet and in the trade center town. Parking in the shopping center next to the hotel. Breakfasts are not bad, but monotonous. Very friendly staff. Reception works 24 hours a day. We arrived at 3 o'clock in the morning, and they welcomed us very kindly.
It spent quite a bit of time looking at hotel options and was happy that I chose this one. The location was good, my room was a good value, and I really appreciated having a kettle in the room, but the best part was the staff at the front desk. I wish I could remember the lady's name who checked me in because she was amazing. She even called the Tourist Information in Cap d'Ail to get directions for a hike. Thank you for a lovely stay. Room 301 is on the front of the hotel. The street can be slightly noisy, particularly on trash day.
We spent 3 nights at the Boreal last week and found the reception staff very friendly when we arrived. They took time to ask us what room we wanted. We decided to have a room overlooking the back of the hotel in the annex-attached to the hotel.,as it does not look over the street (which seemed quiet anyway) This part of the hotel does not have a lift,(the main part of the hotel does have lift) but there are only 2 floors to negotiate and the rooms were a little larger too, so was worth it. There is a lounge and bar where you can buy a drink at reasonable price Position is perfect, a few hundred yards away from the main shopping street Ave Jean Medecin and 10 mins walk from the Promenade Des Anglais Ideal if you are in Nice for a short break. Breakfast was not included in our package and was EUR10 so we simply found a nearby cafe for a coffee and croissant Would recommend
Smart little hotel situated off a main road, and close to the old ville. Clean, well maintained, decently sized rooms with a lockable safe and good WiFi. Staff were pleasant, helpful and spoke good English. About a 15 minute walk from the main Railway station and a few minutes away from the tram stop. Many restaurants close by and a huge shopping centre just a hop skip and jump away.
Hotel Boreal was super ! Centrally located about 1 minute from avenue jean médecin/tram and under 10 minutes from the train station. Beds were extremely comfortable, rooms clean and spatious, staff very courteous. I recommend !
I stayed there were a group from Rail Discoveries, and was pleasantly surprised by my room, which was tucked away at the back, and so nice and quiet. The staff were very friendly, spoke good English, and the room was always clean and tidy. Breakfast is basic Continental style, but plentiful. The only suggestion I would have is for the cereals to come in a bigger container. The poor staff had to keep topping up the small bowls.
The hotel is in a good location easily walkable from the railway station in a side street so very quiet for a city. Our room was small but well-designed apart from the bathroom door. The hairdryer handle was cracked. Good breakfasts although room became very crowded at busy times.
