We have just had 3 nights at this fabulous hotel on a Secret Escape deal, celebrating my husbands 60th birthday. The hotel is set amongst very narrow cobbled street, high above Cagnes-sur-Mer. The surrounding area is beautiful and our room had a fantastic view overlooking the town and sea. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first evening, the food was delicious. At the top of the hill there is a beautiful old square with further restaurants and a stunning view. There is a free bus service which runs every 15 minutes to and from the town. We did walk the distance once, but it is very steep and the cobbles make it a little tricky. All in all a great place for a short break.
I absolutely loved this place and the town. I can say it’s probably the most dreamlike place for me as I love anything medieval. The hotel is in a medieval town up in mountain overlooking water! For me it just can’t get anymore dreamy. People working there were very helpful and polite. I would totally give the full five star if it wasn’t for couple of small hiccups, the AC in our room was making a very loud noise when it was in a lower setting and it was a bit too cold for me in a higher setting. Also, driving there was a nightmare because of tiny streets and I wish I knew beforehand that it’s better to just park down and ask for a pick up. All in all I highly recommend the town and the hotel.
The Medieval old fortress and village above Cagnes-sur-Mer is well worth a visit and staying at the lovely hotel with its rooms named after Painters is an experience to treasure . The restaurant is excellent. If driving, park near the castle then call the hotel and they will send it’s shuttle to collect you. From Cagnes en haut there is a free shuttle down to town. Spend the first day relaxing and explore the village. The museum is very interesting and the church is pretty. Our room was called Mossa and the panoramic view from the balcony was spectacular.
Fabulous hotel in stunning location with amazing rooms and suites. Stayed six nights and would definitely return Staff were so so helpful and the rooms were spotless. Gorgeous bedding !! Views were wonderful.
One of our fave hotels on a driving trip through Italy and France. Perched near the top of the old town, with gorgeous views from the little terrace and our room, this is a quirky, higgledy-piggled hotel, stylishly decorated and with loads of charm. Our room was beautiful, the bed and bed linen were sumptuous, the toiletries were gorgeous and view beautiful. Staff are fab, young and enthusiastic. It’s a total hit for us Don’t forget to make a dinner reservation - we ended up in the restaurant (still gorgeous with a retractable roof but less atmospheric than the tiny terrace) but managed to move for pudding - the food was excellent by the way. And don’t drive to the door - we did and that was a BIG mistake but had already gone ‘too far’ before we realised and just had to plough on with 1” on either side of the car! We’re not doing that again!
We stayed here on vacation for 5 nights. The hotel is located on top of a hill in Cagnes-sur-Mer, about 20 minutes on foot from the train station for any moderately fit person. Service was excellent, with the staff going out of their way to make you feel welcome (Carla especially had great tips for activities in the region). The view is wonderful and the hotel manages to strike a balance between an authentic medieval feel and modern comfort. Only downside was the town Cagnes itself, which was not an attractive holiday destination. However, Monaco, Nice and Cannes were all less than an hour away by train, making this hotel a great choice if one is planning on doing day trips in the region.
I can not recommend this property more! The setting is amazing I loved the village and the old historic Château. The only reason I deducted one star is to aware others it’s just very hard to get there by car. Having said that, this even should add to the attractive of this gem. Additionally, you can park down in a comfortable parking lot and they come pick you up( we just didn’t know in advance so we drove up and it was very stressful!) Honestly, Just stay there!
This small hotel is so beautiful and very nice decorated. It is located in the most beautiful little town approx. 20 minutes drive from Nice and has the most beautiful views over the Mediterranean. The service was eccelent, and all the staff was so dedicated to the hotel. The hotel is owned by a Swede who is the kindest and most friendly person. And it's clear that he loves his hotel so much. We will definitely come again.
Wow! We were overwhelmed by the stunning location of this property. It’s extremely quiet and peaceful, nestled in medieval walls and cobbled streets, with a wonderful selection of charming restaurants in the nearby plaza (walking distance). While you can’t drive straight up to the hotel (you can leave your car in one of many free car parks 5 mins away - aim for the cemetry), the hotel are always available to drop/collect you from your car. The hotel itself was adorable! It has had a tasteful refurbishment of an old chateau, leaving intact historic features whilst also being extremely comfortable, cool and clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable! We loved the old fashioned rooms. We would highly recommend eating dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. Try to request a seat on the terrace, which boasts beautiful hilltop & sea views. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much of an ask. They worked incredibly hard to ensure that we had a wonderful stay, and we are truly grateful! The waiters were particularly friendly! We would definitely return!
We arrived and were greeted by friendly staff. We had a junior suite located directly across the main building (it's not far, less than 50 steps). Our room was clean and spacious for two people. It had a balcony and a partial view of the ocean. We had breakfast and sat there one day. Bed was comfortable and sheets were nice and crisp. TV was a plus and is in the sitting area of the room. If you have a car, park in the bottom of the hill where the hotel recommends, they will send a car to pick you up. We were lucky and found parking in one of the cemeteries which had about 50 parking spaces. It's free. We walked to the parking lot one day and it took about 15 mins. It's hilly. There are restaurants located in the old town and you don't have to worry about going very far. Hotel was a nice escape from the city and we took day trips from there. Highly recommended.
