The renovation looks great overall, and the scenery is beautiful with horses and farmland surrounding the property. Unfortunately, several issues made our stay disappointing.The biggest concern was safety. The rear deck is missing a large section of railing, creating a serious fall hazard, especially for families with young children. There is also an uncapped sewer cleanout in the backyard that is easy to trip or step into and gives off a strong sewage odor. These hazards were the main reason for my 1-star review.Communication was poor. We didn’t receive check-in instructions or key information until after we arrived and had to ask. The owner was slow to respond, didn’t answer phone calls, and the voicemail box was full.The house wasn’t fully prepared for guests. There was food left in the refrigerator from previous guests, and the dishwasher hadn’t been emptied.Other issues included limited supplies of toilet paper and paper towels, a BBQ grill that couldn’t be used because of wasps, no central AC - had window A/C units that couldn’t keep the house comfortable in the summer, and no blinds in two bedrooms, making it difficult to sleep.Black bears regularly got into the outdoor trash, and the main walkway flooded during heavy rain, leaving us with soaking wet shoes just to enter the house.This property has potential, but these issues need to be addressed.
