It’s difficult to get a bigger room for this price. It’s not really kind of place I would want to have my family with me though. The place is smoke free now but you could tell it had been a smoking hotel for a long time previously.
Okay room but mold issues! Nicely painted room. They allow pets. If you have pet allergies be careful. It is smoke free. Also plan to eat breakfast next door, the breakfast selection is coffee, mixed hot water cereals, and muffins.
Disliked this specific property only. The one on oyster point is much better. bathroom actually had a small amount of mold, door extra locking latch was broken and room service never came. Only thing nice was James the attendant at the front desk
We had a reservation for two nights at another motel but the room didn't meet our standard. Called many motels and Extended Stay America was the only one that had a place for us. Boy are we glad they did. This place met all our expectations. We stayed at another ESA years ago so we knew they could be great. Plenty of space, kitchen with all the necessities. The staff was terrific. Bed was very comfortable. When we return to Newport News, Extended Stay America will be the first place we call.
I reserved this hotel for my family's vacation. Based on the images on the website we were pretty excited to get to the hotel. However, when we arrived we were pretty disappointed. The front lobby was not very clean. The hotel smelled pretty badly. when we arrived to our room the smell was even worse. I could tell the room had not been thoroughly cleaned. There were still pieces of trash from the previous guests. We had to spray disinfectant to try and get rid pf the smell and sanitize the area. Every time we left and came back to our room we were hit with "the smell". The "fitness center" consisted of a treadmill and an elliptical. To make a long story short I will not be coming back to any Extended Stay America again.
Do not stay here. Worse hotel ever and staff are rude and dirty. They had no kitchen supplies and when I asked they told me not to hold my breath. And the management forgot to order the stuff for breakfast so we had to get breakfast outside of the hotel becqause there was nothing for my whole 7 day trip. Hotel was very dirty and the cops were there 5 times due to staff charging people for rooms that thet did not have
I needed a place to stay for several days. I went to another location and that was not for me. I was a little disappointed that I had to request kitchen cooking utensils (pots, pans, dishes), but other than that it was a great place to stay. This location was clean and the staff was helpful.
In the hallway there was a dead cockroach (kids had fun singing about it though(" a cock a roach A")! Rooms were very dated, but clean. Staff was the best thing about the place, all very friendly. The pool was filthy dirty (on a 90 degree day). Glad we only stayed 1 night on the way to the beach!
nothing really bad; average place to stay while on travel or simply needing a room for the night. An improvement would be more selections on the television, and better Wi-Fi service instead of an upgrade fee for better performance
Overall, my stay here wasn't too bad. The room was clean and the beds were made upon arrival. The grab and go breakfast had really good muffins and oatmeal. I loved that everyone had to use their hotel key to entire the doors after a certain time at night. The only downsides were the limited TV channels, sometimes spotty wifi, and one pillow per person (there were only 2 pillows on the bed). When we reached the hotel there was a sign saying "I'm away from my desk I'll be with you shortly" and to call xyz # if urgent" It wasn't even 6:30pm yet. The hotel seemed understaffed (as also seen in housekeeping not cleaning our room or changing towels etc. during our entire stay). Other than that it was a nice stay but nothing too spectacular about it (minus the spectacular chocolate muffins haha) The location was great ! It was right off I-64 and near the mall too!
