We are used to renting with VRBO through a private property owner. This time it was a company named Vacasa. I won't ever rent from them again. Unlike a private owner, they didn't respond to emails as quick, their "call center" didn't give as much information as I wanted, and there were problems. Since there wasn't a personal owner, there was only a call center to report them to.
We rented both "A" and "B", two separate places that are attached. "A" was more clean, and better furnished. "B" had many problems. When we first got there, someone sat on a chair and it tipped over because one of the legs was broken prior to our arrival. Later another chair had a leg come out, we were able to put it back in.
It wasn't very clean, I swept and wiped down many things with the Lysol that I bought. There was a mess with gooey stuff under the kitchen sink, probably a dishwasher pod(s) broke and oozed out. They gave us about 25 pods. (Why so many?) The area under the sink, and dish drain were also dirty. I cleaned them. There wasn't an area rug around the couch and table, so we sat on the wood floor. A rug would have been better, since we had little kids. In the kitchen there wasn't a cutting board, so I bought something that would work for the time that we were there.
The worst part was that in one of the bedrooms there was some kind of bug infestation in the window area. Throughout the day, and during the night, a lot of small black bugs (that were alive) would land on the bed/floor, etc. It was really gross! Every day and night we had to shake the bugs off the bed. Since it was a very hot week for Newport Beach, (around 90 degrees) we had to leave the window open.
I won't ever rent from Vacasa again. The trip was fun, but there were too many problems that we shouldn't have to deal with on a vacation.
