Today is my birthday and I decided to go out for a meal. There are not many restaurants open on Mondays in Newcastle West so I opted for the Longcourt Hotel. As a rule, I don't normally like to patronise hotel restaurants bur rather go to local eateries. Today, I broke that rule, and I am glad I did so. I settled on a ribeye steak (medium) and it came with a side salad, fries, and pan-fried mushrooms and onions. It was absolutely wonderful, cooked exactly as I like and plenty of it to eat. I struggled to finish it and was glad I didn't get a starter. I further treated myself to baileys cheesecake which was also very good. The only negative is that the staff were very casual in their approach in that they seemed to be somewhere else. They were efficient and the service was good. However, no one asked if I was enjoying my meal. But I am really nitpicking to mention that small observation. All in, I paid €38.60 for the steak, sides, dessert, americano and a glass of Merlot. Not bad and I left full and satisfied.
This hotel has been recently remodeled, and was recommended by a friend. The front desk staff was very helpful, especially Ellen. She suggested places to eat, things to see and do, and helped us figure out the buses to Dublin Airport for the next day. We stayed in the Standard Double room, and were surprised by the large amount of space.
As a local I have visited the hotel on a number of occasions and the service leaves a lot of be desired. I tried to book the function room and it took 4 weeks to be told it was already booked. I’ve waited for over an hour for soup, 40 mins to get a dinner and then when it came out it wasn’t what I ordered. Just this week I bought visitors down for dinner. We ordered our dinner and also pints of miwadi. 35 min later the dinner arrived and was eaten and we had to call another waitress over to get water. There was 6 staff on duty but no one could deliver a pint of water. The food is always good in the bar but I would suggest training staff. 18 months after opening the service is worse than it was day one. Avoid this place if u are in a hurry or holding a function. Christmas Party is a disaster there too.
Well done long court your food and service is top notch. We stopped on the way to and from our holiday in Kerry and both times the place was spotless, food was great and staff were efficient, friendly and attentive. Even with twins under 5, we felt well served and well fed. It’s a pity more establishments aren’t as good as yours. Well done.
On a recent trip to Newcastle West , my son wanted to use the toilet so we decided to go and have coffee while here. Dropped him at the door and went to park the car. as we were getting out my son returns very upset saying he was refused the use of the toilet ,staff telling him they are for guests. !! I was so angry..what person refuses anyone in need the use of a toilet !! We got back in the car and went elsewhere. People here need to wise up.needless to say i wont call here again .
This hotel is just what Newcastlewest needed. Stayed here for 3 nights this week and cannot rate it high enough. I stayed in a lovely double room and my parents had an equally lovely room. The food was very good quality and we had breakfast each morning and evening meals. Service from staff was excellent and we just can't fault the place. Myself and my father are Guinness drinkers and would give the drinks 10 out of 10. Had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Noreen, while we were there and we were very impressed with her hospitality and professionalism. Will definitely be staying here whilst visiting family again and again. Thanks to all the staff for taking care of us. From the Ahern family.
I was at this hotel for a couple of days as I was presenting a training session there. The food, the room the service were all excellent, the staff could not have been more helpful or accomodating to go out of their way to help me, Speacial mention to Noreen who was just marvellous Im looking to coming back very soon
We stayed here for one night as part of a long trip true Ireland. The hotel does not have a lift to the second level and that is absolutely terrible with big luggage to carry. The rooms are big and comfortable, but the hotel is far from everything in the middle of nowhere. As part of a group trip I don't think we were very well treated, since we had breakfast in a different room from other people, and we also had dinner. The food we had was insufficient and of bad quality. Especially breakfast... Very little food and not a great quality... A place I will probably not come back.
Pros: near the center of Newcastle West, though the town itself is little more than just a suburb, large room Cons: room right beside the street at the same level, we were placed in a different dining room since we were part of a group and our dinner and breakfast were really limited and with inferior quality
We stopped here today for breakfast on our way to Kerry. The food would’ve been lovely had it been hot when we received it. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was lovely and clean. Parking was good too.
