First it all, this place is beautiful & in a great area with an exquisite view of the city. The staff is very friendly & personable.
The hotel experience was great. It was central and had friendly staff that accommodated our needs; whether it be an additional heater for the room or even to clean up a cologne bottle I broke in the bathroom. The bed was comfy and cozy with fluffy pillows and soft sheets the hotel was clean throughout.
Upon checking in we were given the wrong room but the staff and manager were so nice and quick to fix the mistake and upgraded us to a larger room. The hotel is very clean and nice and in a very nice area.
Heat system, water heaters, hallway and room carpets, bathtubs/showers all need to be replaced.
The hotel is attractive with a nicely appointed, artsy decor. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable king (I slept so soundly (and where did that expression come from?)), nicely furnished, and we had a great view. We enjoyed our sampling of a couple of the variety of eaterys and pubs (for the imbibers) which are within walking distance. Our destination was Union Square, which was a quick and easy cab away. Of course the bottom line too, is that the room rate was quite reasonable. We would stay there again, it was fun.
I selected this hotel primarily for the location as it is near my relatives' homes. It has rooms of varying sizes. If you get the small ones, they are very tiny. Upgrade to a more expensive room if you want more space. My room was nice, but it was a corner room on third avenue. It is very noisy in the room from street traffic. I used a sound machine to help me sleep. The bed mattress is very firm. I don't like that, but some people may prefer it. They offer a continental breakfast on the 10th floor lounge for $12.95. There are many sources of food near the hotel if you want to save money on breakfast.
great boutique hotel, one of the best parts is the 10th floor lounge that has an outdoor balcony with a terrific view of the city, totally recommend it for a stay in a quieter part of the city that is near the big time big apple happenings
A view of a back window, I was told it was an upgrade of what I don't know. I have bruises from bumping into furniture.
Room is tiny but does the trick if you're just one traveler. Two people in would be like Thunderdome. $15 for decent wifi/day. $35 for 3 days. No gym and no free passes for nearby (just discount). I was put into a street-side room and boy is it LOUD. They give you earplugs like "LOL sorry" but really you should just ask them to give you a non-street-facing room. The outlet in the bathroom was broken and when I said "My people, I cannot style my hair in this manner," but instead of fixing it, they just gave me a long extension cord WHICH DID NOT REACH THE BATHROOM. Lightbulb on desk next to bed was burned out, they replaced it when I asked them to.
We've stayed at The Marcel in Grammercy several times now. The staff is professional and friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The Marcel is a boutique hotel and the rooms are similar to European accommodations. Small but nicely designed. It's a fairly short subway ride to Times Square after your walk to the subway station. You can also walk there (wear comfortable shoes!) or take a cab or bus. Nice place to stay especially if it is convenient to your destination.
Good little hotel. Wishing there would have been a coffee/tea maker in the room, but the 10th floor had free wifi and coffee all day long. Very nice staff that was helpful and friendly. No complaints. The bed was really comfortable!
Nice Hotel, clean and modern and very nice rooms. Free Wifi only in one floor and no restaurant.
They charged me twice for using the in room concession, yet I never used any of the items. The reception desk was helpful in resolving this issue, but it was an annoyance.
The hotel was nice and cozy and clean. For the money it is a good hotel as long as you are just sleeping there. Staff was not helpful so if you have question don't ask them because they do not want to be bothered. We would stay again because the room was clean and we were only there to sleep but for someone who is high maintenance and expects staff to go above and beyond then it's not the place for you.
Nicely remodeled hotel. decent location, 10 blocks N of Union Sq Park 2 blocks off Park Ave. Tiny room, but in good condition. Had to look out a scaffolding-but that's temporary. Tenth floor terrace is really a nice spot, just don't get the minimal pastry breakfast there at $13 plus tax, an awful ripoff. Walk 2 blocks down 3rd Ave and 1 over to Lexington to the Gramercy Park café. Eggs, potatoes, toast and coffee for $4.00 and pretty good too! Hotel staff was friendly and professional.
We only stayed for one night so it's difficult to say how good the hotel was. It was reasonably priced and suited the purpose. It was away from all the happening places so it was quiet. The room was clean and comfortable. Good value. If you want to be where the action is, it isn't here but if you want a nice quiet room w/a central location, it's your spot.
The hotel was a nice little oasis in the heart of lower manhattan . .a few blocks from eataly and gramarcy park plus more great locations. They even had a 10th floor outdoor patio with incredible views. Great clean rooms, awesome staff - would definitely choose them again when I'm in the area!
I thought the staff was amazing and offer high quality service. The room was clean and neat. I like the TV channel options. The location was perfectly in the middle and quite!!!
We stay here 3+ times per year whenever we're in New York for a few days. The hotel has a boutique feel and the rooms are quite comfortable.
I really enjoyed staying at the Marcel. The location and neighborhood were perfect and the hotel lovely. Everyone was really helpful and friendly. I greatly enjoyed my stay.
