Shurtz Overlook: Great Stay at Hocking Hills

Children and grandchildren joined my wife and I on this visit to Hocking Hills where we had the distinct pleasure of staying at Shurtz Overlook for three nights. Having rented cabins at Hocking at least a dozen times, this was probably the best for many reasons. Easy booking with extremely responsive hosts, very clean and detailed cabin, and great location within Hocking with amazing views are just some of the attributes of this rental. So if you're looking for a rental at Hocking that feels more like a home and has just about everything you could want with great support, we would highly recommend Shurtz Overlook.

Peaceful and Beautiful Cabin!

Everything was great. The cabin was beautiful and the views were great in the snow. Sitting in the hot tub on the porch watching the snow come down was very cool! We enjoyed our trip so much!

Wonderful stay

Our stay was perfect. There were so many little touches from the smores kit to lawn games to the supplies for our dog to be comfortable. It was a truly amazing experience and allowed us to relax and enjoy each others company while not worrying about a thing! I will look for this and their other properties first anytime I return to Hocking Hills!

Wonderful time

We loved our stay and I would highly recommend booking this property. If you are looking for a home away from the noise, with beautiful views, this is the home for you. We were able to enjoy all that hocking hills has to offer, and then come home to relax in this beautiful log cabin that had a great view of the stars. The host did an excellent job communicating during our whole visit, and had alot of nice touches in the house to make us feel very welcome.

Great Property

Very nice cabin! Clean, modern, excellent views and dog friendly! We really enjoyed our time here and loved finding a place that welcomed both us (5 adults) and our dogs (2). The hosts were super communicative and helpful! The place has everything you need. Book it- you won’t regret it!

Great getaway

Scenic, quiet refuge with clean, comfy accommodations. Hot tub, sauna and fire pit as well as many fun outdoor games. Loved the big porch with wooden gliders. Easy access to Hocking Hills recreation.

Fun Friend Getaway!

This beautiful cabin is in a peaceful setting. We had a group of friends together and had an amazing time! The cabin has so many nice features. We loved the sauna, porch, and fun games. It is located near great hiking and a sweet winery. The hosts were so great to work with and very prompt when I reached out to them. Also, our cleaning lady was wonderful. What a fun experience!

Relaxing Stay in Hocking Hills

We stayed at the cabin as a small group aged 24-76 for our Hocking Hills State Park vacation. Everyone in our group loved the cabin and found it very comfortable. It is a newer cabin with nice furnishings and decor. The outside porch is very welcoming and we really enjoyed nightly soaks in the hot tub. Some of us used the sauna and enjoyed that as well. The fire pit area provides a nice place to enjoy the evening and star gaze. The cabin’s location is very near all the area attractions. It is set back away from the road so you do not have drive by traffic thus allowing a great sense of privacy. It’s very quiet and peaceful. There is a washer/dryer with a few soap packets but bring your own soap if you will have multiple loads to do during your stay. There were plenty of dishes for our group of 5 and all the kitchen appliances worked well for our needs. We had a short power outage during our stay due to weather and the hosts were prompt in communicating and helping us determine the cause and length of the outage. Luckily it was short. Overall we had a lovely time at Shurtz Overlook and I found the cabin comfortable with some nice luxuries (sauna and hot tub). I would definitely consider staying again if visiting the Hocking Hills region.

Cleanliness

While the location was wonderful, and the outside views were stunning, I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of the cabin. I know that you allow pets, so I don't expect the cabin to be "fur free", but my tiny dog got under the bed last night and the amount of debris she brought out with her was disturbing. Also my son slept on the couch last night and lost his earbud . When we removed the cushions there again was a lot of debris that had not been cleaned in a while. I started to sweep the floors this morning and it does not look like whoever is cleaning is doing a very good job. My family and I come down to Hocking Hills annually and have stayed at quite a few different cabins. I must tell you that the cleanliness of this cabin is very disappointing for the amount of money I paid. I have photos that I would like to share, but i'm not able to attach them to this submission.

Perfect hideaway

Girls' trip with friends. A few friends wanted to enjoy the outdoors and others wanted to just relax. This house provides the perfect space for both. Any questions we had were quickly answered. The hot tub was a welcomed space after our long hike in Hocking Hills. Thank you so much for opening up your home!

Perfect getaway for the family!

We had a wonderful stay at Shurtz Overlook! The location was perfect - we were near hiking and local attractions, yet remote enough to allow for the true "getaway" we needed. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit in the evenings! We had a few minor issues, but Dan & Casey were quick to respond, addressing our issue within the hour. The best part about this cabin was that it was dog friendly! Our pups had the best time - thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with our family!

Second stay, even better

A lot of times when I go to a place a second time it has noticeably gotten worse or not maintained. However this place has been well maintained and the new sauna is great! Used it every morning. It has a nice delay start feature so that it was all pre heated in the morning. Hot tub was clean, clear and well covered. A great place to watch storms coming over the hills

Serenity with amenities.

Great time!

The hosts were very informative even before we got down there! And kept in contact the entire stay! The cabin was very clean and had all amenities we needed! The views were awesome, hot tub was awesome, sauna was awesome! The corn hole and connect four were great to play on the HUGE wrap around porch when it ended up raining for just a little bit! Highly recommend!!

Absolutely stunning

We had 4 boys ages 2-12 and we had an amazing time!!! Casey and Dan were extreme helpful and quick to respond. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed!! The views were breathtaking to say the least. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend!!!
