The Bell Quarters Congo Square - Uptown Living

The Bell Quarters Congo Square is a ground-level one-bedroom suite in a historic Uptown New Orleans home in the Milan neighborhood African-inspired decor recognizing our City’s cultural history. Located 5 scenic blocks from St. Charles Avenue, guests can easily stroll to play tennis at our public courts, have an appetizing meal at nearby restaurants or catch the scenic streetcar to other delightful destinations in New Orleans.

My neighborhood is convenient for walking, biking, driving and taking public transportation. The St. Charles Avenue streetcar is a short walk away and can take you to the French Quarter in 15-20 minutes. There is usually plenty of street parking. Car share services are about a 10-minute ride to the Central Business District, French Quarter and other major areas.

The suite is cleaned thoroughly and has approved disinfecting sprays for your usage.

The open space plan features a kitchenette, dining/living space with a twin futon for additional sleeping and fitting bath. The sleeping area has a 10-inch memory foam queen-sized bed, ample closet space and natural light.

Appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven-air fryer combo, electric skillet and coffee maker.

The unit has concrete floors and is on the ground-level with residents living above. It is a raised basement with support beams and the ceiling height is approximately 7 feet. Street parking only.

Had a great stay.. Nice neighborhood and a short walk to my friend’s house. This is a basement so when you first walk in it smells like basement but that quickly goes away. Also low ceilings so if you are over 6’ you might bump your head.

We had an excellent weekend away. The walk to street cars was a short ten minutes, then we caught the line into the French Quarter each day. The place is clean and perfect for two people. I also loved learning about the history of the duplex ! Be sure to read it whenever you arrive. Overall, a wonderful stay!

Lydia was a great host. She communicated well, and was accommodating. The space was clean, quiet, and the space heater was a big bonus considering a cold front came through the day we arrived. The space isn't made for tall people, but it did what it needed to do for our weekend trip. I would recommend for a couple just needing a private and comfortable space for a few days.

The photos made it look brighter but it was clean quiet and safe. Ceilings were low so if you’re taller than 5’10 your head would be hitting the ceiling. Shower was big and spacious. Bed was comfortable.

Nice place for a long weekend

Nice studio for two. The place was clean but did have a basement smell. A candle or plug-in air freshener would work really well. Had to message the owner a couple times and she was very responsive. If you’re taller than 5’10”, you may not want to stay here. Ceilings are pretty low. Overall, good place. Would definitely stay here again.
