We were on a road trip with our yellow labrador and needed a dog friendly place. This hotel is fine for Mexico. The price was right and our dog was comfortable, plenty of places to walk her. The staff at check-in was very gracious and helped me with my very limited Spanish. Our bed was typical, which means hard and small compared to what we are used to in the US, no big deal. The room wasn't cleaned to my standards, especially the bathroom. My feet were black from walking across the carpet. Overall, I didn't expect much and so it was fine. The food in the adjacent restaurant was mostly horrible. I ordered fish Vera Cruz style and it tasted like it had been dragged through the mud; I literally took one bite of fish and stopped. I ate the veggies, but I think they were frozen carrot/broccoli out of a bag. Thankfully there were chips and salsa (good salsa and really good guacamole!). My husband ordered enchiladas and the cheese, was actually American Cheese...and I don't mean the good kind from Wisconsin, I mean the kind that isn't really cheese, that comes between 2 pieces of plastic and would stick to a wall if pressed. If we travel back through Navojoa with our dog, we would stay here again; but I definitely would not eat there and I'd wear slippers in the room at all times. Parking was right in front of the room and very secure. The whole place felt very safe and the grounds are well cared for. People were enjoying the pool and the evening and we saw other people with dogs and some nice families playing with kids in the pool.
It has been 6 or 7 years since we have visited Hotel Del Rio and we are grateful to see it has been maintained in its high quality of service. The lovely grounds are clean and well kept. Our room was clean, bright and the beds firm and well made. Hotel Del Rio welcomes dogs which is a rarity in Mexican hotels. No charge for dog. Our very tasty breakfast was included in the price. An excellent value and experience.
Was traveling north to the US border. Hotel is on the main road going north and very easy to find. Hotel has all the basic comforts. Check in and check out were very easy. Desk personnel speak English. Older motel and is being adequately maintained. Did not try the food. Convenience store within a block with the basics (cold refreshments).
This hotel has a nice appearance, but the rooms need badly an overhaul to their rooms, the staff is helpful and professional. Decent breakfast included, the waiters are helpful and well trained. Nice outside swimming pool.
Located in the city of Navojoa in the southern portion of the state of Sonora, about 600 miles (an 8 hour drive) south of Nogales, and two miles north of the center of Navojoa the recently renovated, and now pet friendly, the Best Western HACIENDA DEL RIO HOTEL offers, besides the rooms, the pool, the gardens, the outdoor terrace, the restaurant, and the conference center, an interactive experience with the Mexican culture. If you are looking for a Holiday Inn or a Comfort Inn, this may not be your best choice. This hotel regularly books weddings on weekends, so if you are dead tired and just want to sleep, this may not be a good choice. On the other hand if you want to experience the lifestyle and culture of the Mexican people, this is the place. Overall we enjoyed every minute of our weekend stay, including a wedding celebration that started at 5:00 pm and lasted until 10:00 pm. We stayed in room 113 across from the pool, and the celebration was loud and entertaining. The hotel restaurant used to be great, but is in serious decline due to cost cutting and mismanagement--on my birthday I had an awful dinner, and the next day breakfast was underwhelming (see separate article). The rooms, which include bottled water (do not drink tap water), all Spanish-speaking television channels, and free WiFi, are clean, comfortable, well furnished (coffee maker and refrigerator), and with ample storage. The hotel provides 24-hour security guards on the property. We use this hotel or the Hotel Hacienda de Los Cazadores next door as headquarters for our trips to visit the nearby colonial town of Alamos, the Mayo Indian Ejidos in Huatabampo, and the beaches at Huatabampito.
We stayed here 7 years ago. Outside has been upgraded nicely. Rooms still the same. Typical hard Mexican beds, old tile. They do their best to keep it clean. Good stopover place driving between Arizona and Mazatlan. Pretty good restaurant in the hotel.
Needed a safe place to stop between AZ and Central Mexico and based on FB posts selected Hotel Del Rio. What a lovely place for the night--pool was beautifully maintained--right down to the young man sweeping up the ripe mangoes that fell from the trees. Our room was comfortable--although small, but efficient for a night. We ate at the Los Arcos Restaurant (part of the hotel) and considered having our meal by the pool, but thunderstorms helped us make a better choice. Excellent food, lots of options, good wine list and attentive service.
We stopped here on our way travelling through from Nogales to Rincon de Guayabitos both ways. Both nights the place was good. The restaurant is tasty, although I could have done without the breakfast. Our room was a suite #167 and we liked it. Our daughters had roo #166 and it had cockroaches so they had to be moved. I think the maid just didn't do a very good job of sweeping and checking There are cockroaches everywhere in Mexico. They moved them swiftly so it was all good. The pool area is really nice and there is a place to eat outdoors which is also nice. On site security as well which was nice, considering we had our trailer with us of household goods.
The hotel is lovely. It is located at the north edge of town on the Rio Mayo. Unfortunately they have an internet system that requires that you log on again any time you leave your system idle 5 minutes. I ate dinner at the hotel's restaurant an the service was abysmally slow. Especially considering that there were only me and one table with four people in the restaurant and about a dozen wait-staff. I ordered two shots of tequila and they tried to charge me for four. The waitress said to me "the shot glass is two orders'!!! La instalacion es excelente, pero el servicio no es muy bueno. Sea atento en el restaurant y revisa la cuenta antes de pagar.
Nice big clean room, and like most Best Westerns it's dog-friendly. Room has a kitchenette which is always a plus. The restaurant was fine, but not outstanding. The staff are very courteous and friendly. The wifi is very good when it works, but I have to mention that it stopped working earlier tonight when I tried to submit a review to tripadvisor. It seems they chose a really bad time to reset the username and password. I had to start over and rewrite my review. Too bad for them, this review would have been better had that not happened.
