Parador De Gredos Avila

Perfect place to discover the Sierra de Gredos. Many things to do around. The hotel is clean with a nice welcome. Many lounges to read. The food is good and the restaurant offers nice views. A place to enjoy for couple or with all the family.

It wouldn't be Gredos without some extremes of weather. From tropical sun to low cloud, thunder, lightning and torrential downpour in one day. Nevertheless the staff make up for any shortcomings in the climate. Try a visit to the Plataforma and check out a few of the staff's sugestions for trip in the reception area.

It is a nice place for walking and you have a good view over the Gredos mountains. We had only one night in this hotel with 6 people and we were busy with a 5 day's 4x4 off-road tour from San Lorenzo de El Escorial to Arenas de San Pedro

The visit fully complied with expectations. It was the fifth time we chose a 7-night route. We find the stay in a castle or monastery with history a true experience. We will be back next year for a new adventure

The roads up to the hotel are some of the most fun roads you will drive. The hotel its self is in a great location with good views and lots of parking. Food was good and breakfast was very good. The rooms are large, clean and well equipped. The common area's are great to explore and a walk in the woods is worth doing.

We went to the Parador in Gredos with a group of people. The hotel offered a very good deal for two night, dinner, bed and breakfast, for around €250; they added a supplement for our dog (which is not unusual). We arrived at the hotel and there was a welcome pack for the dog, which included 1kg of good quality food, a small bed liner and food bowl. For me as a pet owner (we are worse than parents of children), this was an astonishing gesture. I have been to hotels before with my dog, and paid the supplements, but I have never had a welcome pack or made to feel that my dog was part of the family - the Parador changed that. In general the hotel was good, the food was very good, with a wide variety of options for all tastes. Dinner was a menu with a good selection and breakfast was a buffet. Overall a good experience and I shall look for other Parador hotels that welcome pets.

The room was comfortable and we were pleasantly surprised by the welcome given to our pet dog, who was given his own little bed, bowl and biscuits. However, the dining experience was not value for money. The food arrived cold and undercooked (starter was croquetas; main was chuletón de ternera). It was also more expensive than it deserved to be.

First the positive: the staff are the nicest guys! I was bringing a dog and the facilitated everything for this to happen easily. Also, they were super helpful with all the questions regarding the places we were visiting. There's nothing negative, it's just that the building is super nice looking on the outside: neoclassical architecture with nice gardens, also the spaces inside are nice in the fashion of this type of old buildings. But they do look old. The rooms are very clean as well as the bathrooms, but they are just old and small. I've been to other Paradores that have significantly better rooms, and given the daily rate for the room, I was expecting a more up-to-date room.

It was the first Parador in Spain and sits on a hillside overlooking the valley and pine forest. Its quite large and busy. Our room was quite small although clean and comfortable. We were there however on a Saturday night having failed to get into Salamanca, Segovia or Avila and I am sure the rooms overlooking the valley are a little more spacious. It was nevertheless quiet .There is not a lot of choice in terms of eating locally unless you are prepared to drive. Food in the restaurant was ok without being particularly memorable. Breakfast as usual in the Parador's was very good. Its great strength however is its location. There are some superb drives in the local countryside on roads which have little traffic. I would not rush back again unless using it as a stopover on the way somewhere.

Excellent place to stay for sight seeing the local area twice we have been and enjoyed our stay in the mountains, so peacfull and quiet would love to stay there again. There is good parking for cars which is not good at some paradores
