Firstly, I did not receive an access code the morning of our check-in date so I messaged the host. He responded & said my reservation form wasn’t filled out properly although he had already accepted my payment in full. Once that was sorted out (45 minutes prior to our check-in time), we entered the property without issue only to find it very dirty. Sticky floors (including hair stuck into some mess on the kitchen floor), dirty counters & appliances), dead bugs (a lot!), floors covered in crumbs, mouthprints on the windows, foul odor, plenty of dirty fingerprints around all the doorknobs/lightswitches, mildew in the shower, water stains on the ceiling (mold growing would be a concern), nails pulling up from the unmaintained deck, yard was not mowed & trash scattered about, metal landscape edging uneven and coming apart (injury potential), no cover on the fireplace (not required in TN but highly recommended for kids/pets). I immediately connected with the host via the VRBO app chat feature. He responded, asking us to send photos. I did send an extensive amount of all the concerns which took 2-3 hours. He said he would send someone to the property to clean but he didn’t say when. I requested he call me to come to a resolution but he never did. We decided to check out. He refunded 2 of the 3 nights we booked but it took me phone calls amounting to 82 minutes total & 16 emails to finally obtain a full refund. VRBO is supposedly having this property reviewed but be careful!
