Waters that fall upon and flow through the Old Hickory Lake watershed make their way to an impounded section of the Cumberland River known as Old Hickory Lake, a reservoir created by an Army Corps of Engineers dam in 1954. The reservoir and watershed are named for the nation’s seventh president, Andrew Jackson, whose nickname was Old Hickory. Situated only 15 miles from Nashville, Old Hickory Lake offers plenty of recreational activities such as camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, cycling, and much more.
The community of Old Hickory is a residential area situated on Old Hickory Lake. In the past, it used to be the site of a DuPont gunpowder plant dating back to the 1900s. The neighborhood grew around the factory. Nowadays, the area features amenities such as the Old Hickory Country Club, sandy Old Hickory Beach, soul food and sports bar restaurants. Additionally, during the spring until fall season, visitors can enjoy shopping at the weekly Old Hickory Village Farmers Market.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 3 bathrooms, and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a coffee maker, and an ironing board.

House needed more kitchen items. Decorating could be better and definitely needs better window treatments. Found the parking less than desirable. Garage access was complicated. Had to take car out, leave it parked somewhere, enter the house to close the garage and then walk back to car.Bedrooms had no dressers for clothes and need side tables on both sides of bed. Could use more towels. Place was very clean and beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed Sam’s restaurant on the dock behind us.

The check-in instructions were incorrect, instructing us to park in the driveway and then go in the front door. There was no driveway. I called the contact number and they told me to use a code to get into the garage, which was at the back of the house. There was no keypad on the garage- I had to send them a photo to prove that, so then they told me to leave the car and walk through the grass around to the front of the house to go through the front door. I tried that, but the code they had sent in the welcome email was incorrect. I called again and they told me to use a new code. That code worked, but the incredibly inconvenient solution for the four days of our stay was to drop someone off at the front door to go in and open the garage, and then the car had to drive around to the back. There was no garage door opener in the house, and they would not add us to the app to be able to open the garage from our phone. The worst part of all of this was that there was no local team (even though they told us someone would come to help us get in - no one ever did) and the contact number reached someone who was completely unfamiliar with the property. It was a bed experience simply to check in and we were very surprised that no attempt was made to rectify the very bad check in experience. When we got in, it was just OK - not a good value for the price. Uncomfortable couch, no coffee table or end tables, very poor WiFi. This seems to be a property managed by some non-local company.

The access to the property was confusing, with parking in the back and only being able to access the front door it was difficult to complete a smooth arrival. The initial code did not work, and I had to spend time waiting for a new code. The garage was stated as a two car garage, but two larger vehicles were a very tight fit and we had to unload before we could fully park. The houses cleanliness was less than spectacular. After walking around the kitchen the bottoms of my feet were black. The shower in the master bathroom leaked onto the floor and when wiped up, the town turned brown. The hallway bathroom shower door stuck closed and the bottom of the door appeared broken. The house was very sparse with no real place to set items but on the floor. No dressers, no coffee table, only one small side table in each bedroom. With eight people the living room was very crowded and there were not enough comfortable places to sit. The fully equipped kitchen was minimally equipped. No baking sheets were available and the skillets provided were all 8” or smaller. Overall, it was a less than stellar place. Will not book with this place or Grand Welcome Vacation rentals again

Overall, this house is very nice! It's in a good location, close enough to Nashville to drive there in 15-20 minutes, but far enough away that it's quiet. We loved being able to walk down to the marina and the restaurant (Sam's) is amazing! You can also rent a boat for the day which was very fun. The house itself is clean, carpets were clean, and the master suite upstairs is very nice and updated (the shower is to die for)! We had no issues with the door code or accessing the house. The management company (Grand Welcome) is very communicative and texted me throughout our stay to check in. The house does have a few issues that I have addressed with the company privately that I'm confident they'll fix. I would recommend this home and plan to stay there again for future trips.

Nice place
We enjoyed this VRBO. A little far from town but easy to get around and did enjoy the ease of access to area shopping needs and a Planet Fitness and golf! Nice eateries around, especially Sam’s at Turtle Bay! Highly recommend! All amenities were nice, just a couple of suggestions… maybe some hooks in the master bath/closet for towels and robes, and a couple more hand towels, wash cloths, dish towels. Otherwise the stay was fantastic. Good and safe feeling walking areas for dogs. Owners were very attentive to needs and concerns. Highly recommend this unit, was perfect for our family!

Pretty home, plenty of bedroom space. Great communication with company owners! For us older people, need to realize its a lot of stairs and parking can be at a premium when other rentals in area are occupied. Also instructions said there was a driveway for 2 cars, not a drive way, it's a garage. House was well stocked.

this property was good location for us. it was comfortable with nice finishes and comfy beds. couple stains on carpet that need to be addressed. living room needs some side tables. check in was a breeze. one of the toilets wasnt working. communication via text with property mgmt was prompt but did have to message a 2nd time about the toilet and then it was fixed. overall a nice property and i'd stay there again.

Beautiful Property and Great Location - Some Issues
The house was very clean and cozy. Location was phenomenal, esp. for walking a dog. Having a garage was such a major plus! Great house to host family in!Upon arrival, the entry code was not working, but we reached out to property mgr, and the issue was quickly resolved with a new, working access code.We did have two other significant issues. First, the internet never worked despite working with property mgr to try and fix remotely. This meant that none of the four Roku TVs worked. Luckily, we had one phone with good enough hot spot capability to support a single TV while we waited out the rainy weather. We were given a credit for the inconvenience, but obviously we would've preferred a fix.The second issue was that on our last night, we went for a walk but the door code did not work when we returned. Fortunately, we still had the first, non-working code and it was suddenly working. I don't know what could've caused the door code to spontaneously revert, but the situation could've been really bad if we didn't have that other code with us (all VRBO contact info was locked inside ... lesson learned!)All-in-all, we would definitely return to this property in future, but we could've done without the internet & door code stress.

Clean, quiet, great location
This townhouse was simply furnished, which with a toddler was great. Multi level place means each bedroom had good privacy and with its own bathroom. Nice neighbors, and only a 3 minute walk from a large marina on the Cumberland River lake with a good restaurant. Only 20 minutes to the Opryland resort where we went to a conference. Would stay again!

Malfunctioning detectors
We had 3 nights booked for a business trip. On the first and third nights our sleep was completely disrupted by constant chirping on several of the dectors throughout the unit. We notified the management team after night 1 and informed them of the problem. Initial delayed response was to call 911 and immediately evacuate!! The chirping was NOT due to smoke or carbon monoxide, it was malfunctioning detectors. We were never notified of any investigation or problem solving but night 2 was quiet. Night 3 started once again upon our arrival home after an all day business event. Started again in the garage and by 3 am, outside our bedroom. In summary, we book through VRBO to avoid these kinds of situations. Needless to say we are exhausted and very displeased in Grand Welcome’s response to the particular problem with this unit. In summary, I certainly would not recommend this unit as we were willing to pay more for what would suggest a higher quality accommodation.
