First time back after opening of new road replacing The Gorge. Great improvement! Some excellent new restaurants (Madame Social especially) and some old favs doing well (fish at Mr D's was memorable). The enormous south at the Upper Norwood cafe was absolutely wonderful.

Overall this was a great spot … close enough to the main downtown pedestrian shopping area but still quiet. We were in the older part of the property. It has nice some character but also had creaking floors and the room we were in had a odd sofa that wasn’t particularly comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Spacious bathroom with nice tub/shower and wonderfully big windows. Good to bring a sleep mask if light bothers you when sleeping. They have blackout blinds but the light still comes in on the edges. We loved Napier and would stay here again but would ask more questions about the room set up first or request a room in the newer building.

On site parking (underground garage) a bit small & tight - NOT for large vehicles. If parking makes you nervous may want to consider street parking. Otherwise the stay was great!! Friendly staff too!
