When I arrived, the nice receptionist told me I had been upgraded. I was imagining a room with view of the nice canal across the street, dotted with house boats. Turns out I was upgraded to a room that was so hot and stuffy, even with the AC on full blast, I could not sleep (and I don't mind a bit of heat). I ended up opening the window, even though it faced directly unto not just the train tracks, but the platforms, where TGVs and other trains came to a screeching halt until 1am with frequency. To be fair, if the windows are closed, it's quiet. Once I realized the AC wasn't doing enough, it was too late to complain, so I stuck it out. In hindsight, I should have complained, as they were very nice in general. Oh, but there were also several things broken in the bathroom, e.g. the soap dispenser and something else I now can't remember.
Messed up room booking amendments for a colleague from the U.S. without a room in a fully booked Nantes. The Mercure booking system confirmed via email the correct amendment from one night to two. Arrive to check-in and find the amendment is listed incorrectly as two nights to one..... Beyond hopeless, will be avoiding the Mercure brand of Accor in the future. The hotel staff did what they could, however not enough to save this thoroughly unpleasant experience with the Mercure chain from a one star rating.
We loved our hotel room Superior with view of river. Great new bed, stylish design and lovely view. Big gorgeous bathroom. It is literally in the Nantes station so easy to access if coming by train. It is a 5-10 min walk to main area of Nantes and the city is gorgeous. Lots of great shops, stunning historic sites and friendly and peaceful society. We were so disappointed that the hotel had no climate control working despite its advertised facilities. The room was really stuffy and hot when we arrived and the system did not even allow it to operate in Fan Mode let alone Cool mode. As the receptionist said 'there is nothing'. Luckily it was only around 25 outside and they gave us a portable fan and a sheet and we kept the windows open during the day. But I don't get how hotels can list their properties as having AC when it is seasonal.
This us a lovely hotel based near the main train station. Very clean. Staff are very friendly! I would definitely recommend staying here. The only downside? Checking out you have to pay a "City Tax" - But regardless I still give 5/5.
I recently stayed at this hotel in central Nantes and was pleasantly surprised with how convenient it was to get to and close to the station. Despite its proximity to the station it was relatively quiet. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Not sure about the shower room though as with glass walls and gauzy curtain it didn't offer much privacy if you had someone up in the room with you!!!
Can't comment on the hotel, only the bar where I went in for a coffee prior to getting on my train. After waiting for about ten minutes before someone finally came to take my order, I had to wait well over ten minutes again (I nearly got up and left) to be served... and the coffee was bitter, not worth the money.
The location is excellent, right next to the train station, yet a 10-15 minute walk from Nantes Centre and all the attractions. Inspite of being located next to the train station, it does not feel like a typical station property, none of the litter and other gloomy things one normally expects, which is refreshing! The staff is polite and warm, the hotel itself, quite nice….my big complaint is about the size of the room! It is incredibly tiny for a 4 Star room in a smaller city! What is it about new Mercure properties? I have stayed in 5-6 hotels in the past few months, and its difficult to even open ones suitcase fully in all, except for the older properties.
The hotel had nice lobby bar and good restaurant. Easy way to get auround in Nantes, Connected direct to the train station ( without noise), and both bus and taxi just outside. The room was small but nice.
Right next to the station (but I didn't hear a train at all). Good reception, nice room - not huge - all the little luxuries. Due to show screen arrangement, water leaked out onto bathroom floor. Unavoidable. Lovely evening meal and everything you could possibly want for breakfast. Couldn't see much in the immediate area but didn't choose for that anyway.
Based on being next to Nate's Gare, we assumed this modes priced hotel would probably be adequate. Pleasantly surprised! Staff was so accommodating and the hotel was clean, modern, quiet and breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I would recommend this hotel to any weary traveler. The air conditioning was also quite welcoming as we were in Nantes during a serious heat spell.
