On entering the very trendy reception you are met by warm ,friendly and attractive reception staff. Room may have been on the small side but it was spotless and functional. The bed was extremely comfortable with excellent bed linen and great pillows. I was worried it may be noisy as my room overlooked the train station but it was fairly quiet thanks to the triple glazed windows. I liked the ground floor with little break out areas for one to one meetings. Breakfast was excellent in a huge spacious room. Really good Mercure standard !
The location is closed convenient, next to the train station and tram. The castle is a short walk from the hotel. Room was clean with a big bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was diverse. But Internet was a little slow.
Good hotel right beside rail & bus links, despite this the rooms were very quiet, good nights sleep. It is situated a short walk from old town where there are many places to eat & drink. Rooms are modern ( ours had lovely view over canal) and clean. Be warned it is difficult to keep water from shower in bathroom. Staff where friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Good standard of hotel close to town.
The internet is just not working although signal strength is strong and no matter at what time you try. Awful. The basic rooms close to the train station are noisy and you shouldn't expect a long night. Also the A/C system in the room is noisy
If you don't want any of the subtext, skip to the last paragraph. After a disastrous 2 1/2 hour train journey including delays, an injured girlfriend, a stolen phone (thankfully unrelated to the injury), and a stubborn 18 month old son we arrived at Nantes centre Gare. Unfortunately due to the delays we had missed the country wide window of opportunity for lunch (being 12-2 it seems) but all was not lost. After exiting the station on the south side we found the hotel immediately and were greeted in the reception by Megan (oh lovely Megan!!) who directed us to the nearest-best sandwicherie and upon our return supplied power to our remaining phone with what was one of the handiest adapters I've ever seen! But our change in fortune was not to last as we had not spent enough time in France to accustom our young uncultured child to the common habits of the French (dinner is from 7pm, everywhere!), and because the room service menu offered a range of cold savoury tarts, pâtés and charcuterie (really nice ham and stuff) we seemed doomed not to eat a single hot meal for A WHOLE DAY!! (First world problems) Fortunately Louise (lovely lovely Louise!!) did us a solid and allowed me to bring a delicious meal from the hotels restaurant upstairs to our room, so that we were able to enjoy a hot meal together while supervising our son and watching the finale to GOT season 7 through the hotels free wifi. Basically, what you've got here is a convenient, central chain hotel with most if not all the comforts one could need along with personable and engaged staff who are willing to go far beyond the minimum of what their job requires given the respect they deserve Thank you Megan, Louise and the night porter Vincent 👍
I was traveling with my wife , and after a long car trip we couldn't wait to get into a really good shower and take a rest , the moment we enter the hotel we had the feeling that we were at home , from the big warm reception from the gentle Clemence that her kindness was heartwarming , and for the comfort of the rooms . Once more thank you for the magnificent night we will come back again .
Great location just few steps from the Station. Perfect inside, all what is required for business traveller is there. No gym/sauna/swimming pool. Restaurunt is there and quite suitable. You could also find a lot of restaurants and cafe very close to hotel. Old city, castell and other sightseeng points are very close to hotel. Perfect!
When I arrived, the nice receptionist told me I had been upgraded. I was imagining a room with view of the nice canal across the street, dotted with house boats. Turns out I was upgraded to a room that was so hot and stuffy, even with the AC on full blast, I could not sleep (and I don't mind a bit of heat). I ended up opening the window, even though it faced directly unto not just the train tracks, but the platforms, where TGVs and other trains came to a screeching halt until 1am with frequency. To be fair, if the windows are closed, it's quiet. Once I realized the AC wasn't doing enough, it was too late to complain, so I stuck it out. In hindsight, I should have complained, as they were very nice in general. Oh, but there were also several things broken in the bathroom, e.g. the soap dispenser and something else I now can't remember.
Messed up room booking amendments for a colleague from the U.S. without a room in a fully booked Nantes. The Mercure booking system confirmed via email the correct amendment from one night to two. Arrive to check-in and find the amendment is listed incorrectly as two nights to one..... Beyond hopeless, will be avoiding the Mercure brand of Accor in the future. The hotel staff did what they could, however not enough to save this thoroughly unpleasant experience with the Mercure chain from a one star rating.
We loved our hotel room Superior with view of river. Great new bed, stylish design and lovely view. Big gorgeous bathroom. It is literally in the Nantes station so easy to access if coming by train. It is a 5-10 min walk to main area of Nantes and the city is gorgeous. Lots of great shops, stunning historic sites and friendly and peaceful society. We were so disappointed that the hotel had no climate control working despite its advertised facilities. The room was really stuffy and hot when we arrived and the system did not even allow it to operate in Fan Mode let alone Cool mode. As the receptionist said 'there is nothing'. Luckily it was only around 25 outside and they gave us a portable fan and a sheet and we kept the windows open during the day. But I don't get how hotels can list their properties as having AC when it is seasonal.
