A very fine hotel with exellent staff, location is good on Gloverhill and from there you can go to all the places you want to visit. Room was OK not to small (what we read from other hotel guests) and clean. Also the restaurant on the first floor offering a very nice Ala Carte menu and good food. Breakfast buffet is very complete with a lot of choices.
The hotel's location is fantastic! The Crowne Plaza ANA Nagasaki Gloverhill is situation at the base of Glover Garden, and next to the Oura Catholic Church. That's 2 attractions within walking distance for you! Shikairo, the Chinese restaurant that first served champon, is right across the road from the hotel. The port is also nearby. Shopping street is on one side of the hotel. There's also a convenience store as well as a drugstore. Extremely convenient. Apparently, there's a train stop within walking distance from the hotel, which should make moving around pretty easy. Not verified by us though since we had a driver. Given its location, navigation and getting around by car was also simple. The breakfast buffet was a decent spread of East and West, so you don't have to worry about not being able to find something to eat. Breakfast service staff were efficient. I also bought a cheesecake from the patisserie on the ground floor and it was the usual Japanese hospitality. Apart from those, we didn't really interact with the staff otherwise. Even check-in was handled by my guide, so not much comments from us there. Do note that the hotel is pretty old, so no surprise there that our room appeared a little tired and worn. Nevertheless, it was neat and clean with the requisite basic amenities present. More importantly, beds were comfortable. I knocked out pretty fast both nights we were there.
The location is good, close to the port, close to Glover Hill, close to a tram stop. The rooms are really average and on the small side. We were upgraded to a 27 sq mt room - which was small, so I can only imagine how tiny the standard rooms are. There was a really strong smell of smoke on the floor though it was a non smoking room. The staff barely speak English. They have a translation machine in the lobby which was not very effective but at least allowed some form of communication. Overall I would say not of normal Crown Plaza standard at all.
Convinient location near the port and Glover Garden. That's it on the positive side. Rooms are mini mini. The 'standard double' would be a tiny single under western standards with the bed pushed to one wall. Service is poor. There is a computer in the main lobby and hotel staff expects you to turn to that thing in case of questions. Kind of funny, but not so when paying 63,000 for 2 nights.
1 Location Perfect place for sightseeing. Though city of Nagasaki is not so big, you will need to utilize trains to see around. There is a train stop within 30 seconds walk from the hotel. Also, there is the really famous Chinese restaurant, Shikairo, just in front of the hotel. They serve great food. But be careful, because they close quite early. 2 Accommodation Though the building itself is old, the room is neat. Nicely cleaned, but I could sense scent of the cigarette. Maybe it was not a non-smoking room. 3 Breakfast Perfect. Both Japanese and Western food are available with the buffet style. 4 Service I am not sure, because I did not use much of the services. But the staffs at the reception or the breakfast place were fine.
The hotel at first glance is big and luxurious. We ate dinner in the hotel second floor restauraunt featuring italian buffet- it is always not a good idea to eat italian food in a japanese restaurant, the buffet did not have much semblance to italian cuisine safe for one pasta dish with tomatoes that was not really good. Someone should tell management to stick to japanese buffet at night unless they have a visiting italian chef. But the breakfast spread was better since they had mix japanese and western choices. Now the room, it was big and nice but no airconditioning, we asked for an electric fan but was told to open our window for which our room on the second floor was on the hotel roof top i guess of the lobby which had access through a small gate, fearing someone can just sneak in the middle of the night, we slept sweating. Tney should fix the ac, if not, buy more fans.
Crown Plaza Nagasaki Hotel This is very convenient to Glover Garden but needs 2 trams to take you to the Peace Park or Nagasaki JR. The hotel is comfortable, quiet and has all the amenities that you should expect. Plan your time in the city using the One Day Tram Pass to minimize the time it takes to cross the city to other sights and areas of interest. Then it won’t matter that this hotel does not have a central location, however, taxis are cheap by Australia standards.
The hotel was good, but not as good as other hotel i stayed in Japan. The bathroom looked old, actually, the whole structure looked old. Almost no one spoke any English, making it very difficult even to understand if breakfasts was included into our rate or not.
It is absolutely occupying the best location for tourists. Gloverhill is the central spot for the meji attractions. The hotel also has a convenient tram connection to other parts of the city and a tourist bus pickup point for the famous night mountain view. The staffs are nice and room clean. Nothing to fault with.
Nagasaki is small place so there are not many options. But this is an ok place. The rooms are really small. bathtub is like a joke. Even the bigger rooms are small (even when I got upgrades due to Gold membership it was small). Food option is real pain. Service is very average.
