We stayed in this hotel While visiting Hakuba- it was amazing! Such a wonderful hotel- the staff was extremely helpful and could not have been more pleasant! The room was upgraded to one with its own natural spring in it - both of our rooms! Would recommend it highly!
Stay here for 2 nights and went to Happo One for hiking. Staff are extremely helpful but they should know more about hiking information, including the cable car operating hour, etc. We have a room with private onsen. One thing about the hot spring is that the marriott group add in chlorine/ disinfectant into the water (both in private and public onsen). I don't know why the group do such a thing. But onsen is not a swimming pool and the onsen is continuous running water (not stagnant water). The smell of chlorine totally ruining the good quality of onsen. Otherwise the room is nice for two nights stay. We did not have breakfast or dinner so cannot comment about it. There is a few restaurants within 3-5 minutes drive from the hotel.
It is rated as a 3 star hotel, but it is way above three stars. The front desk staff were as professional as they are personable to each of us. Gave us great restaurant recommendations and also activities to do. Once we were in mountain trekking, and we were unsure whether to continue the trek due to a constraint in time. We gave them a ring to check the average trek time and they gave really sound advice for us to return back to base. They were elated to see us back to hotel safely as much as we're relieved. We went during summer and it's kinda a low season. Our room was upgraded to onsen room due to our Platinum status. We were also offered a 3 hours free flow drinks from 3-6pm. Breakfast is decent with live omelette station. Public onsen in the hotel is good too. During the two nights, we were the only ones there. Might be due to the low season in summer. If we're back to Hakuba, will certainly come back to this hotel. Thanks for a memorable stay! Thank you for a memorable stay!
I reserved through Hotels.com site (same company as expedia) - because hotel is newly opened, they seems not to know how to properly treat reservation from this site, reserved conditions, information about me, were all wrong, and we had to waste long time at check-in and also check-out. We were there to enjoy relaxed time, but not only wasted time but also we became frustrated to argue with hotel front clerks. if they don't know how to properly treat reservation from this site, they shouldn't use this reservation site. We wanted hotel to show some kind of compensation, but there was nothing except for casual apology. I really liked the western-Japanese combined room, but I wish we didn't go there.
History: Originally built and opened in 1996. Rebranded to Courtyard by Marriott in 2018. Location: In deep forested area of Hakuba. Approximately 10 minutes drive from Habuba train station. Rural resort. Interior Décor: Courtyard standard. Excellently maintained. Exterior Appearance: 3 story building in resort area surrounded by forest. Outside view from the room I stayed at (206): Forest, some residences and hotel parking lot. Could have been better. Window could be bigger than what it was. Room Description: Deluxe look. 2 beds. Room Size: Approximately, 32 square meters. Room Cleanness: Clean. Bathroom: Clean and small size Noise Insulation: Excellent. Very peaceful. Price and Value: Good price setting in off season. Breakfast: Lavarock restaurant. Very good all you can eat buffet featuring wide sets of Japanese and western food selections. Excellent Bed: Firm softness. Slept fine. Services: Professionally trained friendly hotel staffs. Hot Springs: Spacious and peaceful. And...when I think of "Courtyard by Marriott" hotel brand, I think of a city upscale hotel. This one didn't match my expectations...still the overall quality of the stay was very good.
Our room was quite large, clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. If you don’t want your room cleaned each day they offer you a 2 hour free ‘flowing’ wine and basic spirits happy hour. Breakfast buffet was substantial however most items were cold (not well heated). As we were there in Spring not a lot of restaurants in town were open however there were enough for our 3 night stay.
Its a new development - the property was taken over from a local chain and renovated quite extensively. The rooms are modern and functional - its a little distance from town but there is a shuttle provided for. Stayed in a room with private onsen - its done well. Food on the premises is all right but its better to head out. Breakfast is ok and service can be a little abrupt. There was a large tour group on one of the nights we stayed and hotel probably can give a heads up to other guests so as to avoid the hectic breakfast service.
On a recent business trip to Tokyo I decided to use my free time to get some skiing in. I found the Courtyard Hakuba on the app, decided to give it a try, and was not disappointed! I couldn’t believe how easy they made everything - especially the logistics of a last minute ski trip in a foreign country where I don’t speak the language! I used the app to message the hotel and tell them what time my bus got into Hakuba and they were waiting for me at the bus stop to drive me to the hotel. The hotel sold me a lift ticket at a discounted rate, and a rental shop came and picked me up so I could rent some skis. The hotel itself is very nice and very conveniently located for skiing at Hakuba Happo-One. The in-room onsen was perfect after a day of skiing. The restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced as well (although I would challenge anyone to find bad food in Japan!) Don’t expect the same level of English as Tokyo, but the staff are excellent, and tried very hard and even if their English was minimal they always accommodated me and were able to understand what I was asking. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so I wasn’t able to experience everything skiing in Japan has to offer, but I will be back to try again!
Had a wonderful time. Will certainly be back again. Really wonderful hotel. Was upgraded to a room with an Onsen (natural spring bath) which was great. What made the stay extra special was all the staff who were really wonderful. Highly recommend this property.
Newly rebranded hotel in Hakuba. Great service, love the room with a private hot spring. Big public indoor and outdoor hot spring as well. Highly recommended to couples or family who wants to ski in Hakuba. Waking distance to a local restaurants and bars.
