Exceptional service from the front desk staff (young man) since we arrived late after a long 8hr drive and we had eaten little that day so he managed to arrange a fantastic meat/cheese platter that was most enjoyable. Comfy and clean rooms and a delicious breakfast the next morning! Great experience, highly recommended!

In addition to pleasant rooms, the hotel has an inviting lounge with games and books and a bar. The hotel's restaurant serves a delicious dinner, and the breakfast was much better than most.
i cannot rate this property because I ended up not stay there. I did not research Lake Myvatn closely. In Icelandic Myvatn means “Flies”. There were flies everywhere. I saw the room which was lovely and clean. The issue was there were flies inside the room on the window. To be fair I believe any hotel in that area would have the same issue

Nice modern hotel. Good lake view esp. from upper level. Room decor nice but spare; small in size. Heated flooring appreciated. Breakfast could be improved. Same offerings all three days; rubbery scrambled eggs, mucky porridge, fruits and veggies showing age. Crisp mini croissants were enjoyable and hard boiled eggs were tender. Bonus northern lights wake up call!

What a beautiful hotel! At first I was disappointed in how far it was from the lake but quickly got over that (especially after I found out the black flies get worse the closer you get to the lake). There was a beautiful view of the volcanos and lake from the window. The room was comfortable and clean and the restaurant served up some tasty food for dinner. The spread for the bread was amazing. Breakfast was substantial - it was a full buffet. Staff was very pleasant. The bathroom had the nice big showerhead, some serious water pressure and a good hairdryer. 😊 I typically choose more economical hotels but decided to spend a little more on this one because it seemed worth it. I wasn’t disappointed.

Great hotel for a secluded stay in lake Mytvan. Friendly staff, central location for driving to all area sites/attractions. Minimalist facilities and rooms that are still comfortable and stylish. Great location to see the Northern Lights if they decide to show ;)

Hotel Laxa is not only beautiful (kudos to the designer who make you feel like you are part of the volcanic landscape), its location serves as a great jumping off point for a day of taking in the sights around Myvatn. We arrived from Eglissadir, after stopping at the Mytvan Nature Baths on our way into town. After a fantastic breakfast of eggs, bacon, waffles and a buffet of fresh fruits and vegetables, we spent the next 6 hours taking in all that Myvatn had to offer. I would definitely return here and spend more than one night. An excellent value for the price!
