Villa El Capitano with garden and pool, Muro Leccese, Italy

This attractive villa, set in extensive gardens with a private pool, can sleep up to 12 people. It is ideal for a large family or friends looking for a relaxed holiday in Salento. It is just 15 minutes from the Adriatic coast and 25 minutes from the stunning city of Lecce, making it perfectly positioned to get the most from this beautiful region of Italy.

The villa’s owners have taken care to ensure that guests can enjoy the large gardens to the max. There are verandas and terraces around the villa for relaxing and dining outside in the open air. An independent gazebo houses an outdoor kitchen, BBQ and dining area, which looks out to the swimming pool, and a second covered area by the private outdoor pool with a bar and lounge area. Next to the pool, there are sun loungers and a shaded area, where guests can relax after a refreshing swim.

The inside of the villa is also carefully equipped and decorated. Wide glass doors open from the terrace into the spacious living/dining area. This has a country and western feel with wooden beams and open stone wall finishes. There are two sofas, next to a wood-burning stove, and a large flat-screen TV. Next to the sofas, guests will find a pool table. The dining area has a large wooden table and is adjacent to the kitchen. This is separate from the rest of the room by a breakfast bar, complete with high wooden stools.

The kitchen is well-appointed with a cooker hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a coffee machine.

Sleeping
The villa has 5 bedrooms. Four of these have double beds, and the fifth is a larger bedroom with a double bed and 2 single beds. All bedrooms have air conditioning and TV’s.

Bathrooms
There are 4 bathrooms. All bathrooms are equipped with a sink, a bidet and a WC. 3 of them offer a shower with hydromassage jets. The 4th has a large bathtub with a showerhead and serves 2 bedrooms. 3 bathrooms are ensuite. There is an additional WC next to the living room.

Location
The villa is surrounded by countryside but just 5 minutes from the charming town of Muro Leccese. Dating from the Middle Ages, the town is known for its winding streets and the Piazza Umberto I, the main square, which is always bustling with activity. The town’s history is told in the fascinating museum housed in the Palazzo Baronale. There are plenty of excellent trattoria’s where you can try the local cuisine. For self-catering, the market takes place every Thursday morning. Here you can find the best local ingredients to cook at home.

The popular port of Otranto (15 minutes) has been inhabited for millennia. The town centre offers a taste of “La dolce vita” with a range of restaurants, cafés and ice cream parlours. To the north of Otranto, you can find some of Salento’s finest beaches, such as Baia dei Turchi (18 minutes) or Spiaggia Alimni (18 minutes). Both make excellent day trips.

The city of Lecce (25 minutes), the “Florence of the South”, is a jewel of a city and well worth a visit. Not only for its long history but also for its excellent food and good shopping.

The closest airport is Salento Airport, in Brindisi - just 1 hour and 5 minutes away by car. Please note that the pool is open from the 20th of May 2025 to the 20th of October 2025
