As I promised at the reception a week ago, I'm writing this review to help both the hotel administration and future travelers. We stayed at the hotel Izan Cavanna for about a week on FB just couple of days back. I will start with the positives and add the negatives at the end, because we actually enjoyed the trip and my overall opinion is positive. The hotel is located on the "mar menor" and within 2-3 minutes walking distance from another beach just opposite direction. Beautiful location with great sea sports, spacious garden and pool and I would say very friendly and multilingual staff. The room had beautiful view both were sea view rooms (one towards the port and island and the other towards the swimming pool). The room was well equipped and cleaned daily, good air conditioning and I think the best Wi-Fi connection I have experienced in a hotel for a very very long time. Now the negatives. The room for my taste wasn't corresponding to a 4 star hotel quality, but I guess the categorization in every country is different, so I can't really give a professional opinion having travelled to other 4-5 star hotels in Spain and the case was either the same or similar. The elevators were a nightmare, even though there are 3 of them as well as 1 for staff, but I guess the mechanism and the way they work wasn't proper in order to avoid queues and waiting. The food was overally not bad, but not great either. I think out of the 7 days we had lunch and dinner there were about 70-80% very good dishes and variety of main dish choices. I personally was disappointed with the breakfast, having in mind that I know the culture after living in Spain for some time. The wine was really low quality(white was better than red(both in bottles)). I think there wasn't enough staff in the restaurant as well, as they were having a nightmare at some hours and we had to clean the tables in order to sit on a clean table at some point during our stay. As I mentioned the internet connection which was very good, I forgot to add that it doesn't spread to the pool/garden or beach, but is available at the lobby and in the rooms. Good also is that you don't have to add user/pass every time you log in and your session is not being timed out. I still would suggest it to the travelers, but would highly recommend to the hotel management to work on their breakfast, internet availability at the pool/garden and beach as well as increase the restaurant staff, as they were obviously steaming from work and because of that not really friendly. I don't blame the staff or management for this occupancy and busy hours in the restaurant, however I think it isn't nice when there are people with food in their hands waiting for a free table or to have to clean someone else's table in order to have your lunch/dinner.

If you have strong nerves or If you want to spend most of your holiday time by waiting for a lift, there is no better choice than to stay at this hotel. The hotel complex with almost 400 rooms on 14 floors has three lifts only for guest use. Considering a fact that this hotel is occupied mainly by sick people with musculoskeletal system walking mostly only with the help of crutches, then it is a very serious problem. Otherwise the rooms were clean, the food quite decent and tasty. However, the staff of the restaurant is very overloaded, which I can reasonably judge with the 35-year-old practice of the hotelier and restaurateur. Despite their extremely hard work, they found a smile on their faces and an effort to help. I would very much like to pick up the work of Miss Ana Avila, who has always been trying to help everyone in her section, she did not spare a sweet word and smiles. An admirable work that would certainly deserve some more appreciation from side of her superiors!

Positive: Very good place, the hotel is situated on the beach of the Mar Menor, les than half a kilometer to the beach of the Mediterranean Sea, buss stop is les than 300 m from the hotel Enough space on the room, price included air conditioning The room was clean with perfect servis (towels) Every day a fish was also on the menu Negative: Except for receptionists almost nobody was able to speak and understand english or german. It seemed that this was normal in the Spain. We made trip to the Cartagena and Murcia and almost nobody spoke english also. Most of the meals for the lunch and dinner was "extremely diet" - amost no salty and spicy and salt and pepper was not onthe tables but only at the buffet Excluding fish meat was often undercooked and tough Some fruit did not look very clean and there were no possibility to wash it All information about the Surroundings of the hotel and about Nature was only in spain. The only english text was in the bathroom - request to save the water The meals was served in the late time - breakfast from 8:00, lunch from 13:30 and dinner from 20:30!! terrible We were there from 7 to 13 September and during this time was visible that the season finished and servis in in the restaurant went down - cloth tablecloths was replaced by a smaller from paper, reduced personell was not be able to remove dishes from the tables Terrible thing In the bed under the sheet was the plastic sanitary towel which vas very uncomfortable In generall It was our first visit in Spain and in comparison with Grece we were quite disappointment. May be something what we fel as a negatve was given by the senior category of the holiday (55+)

The hotel is in a beautiful location, the rooms are OK, not luxurious, but well equipped with A/C and digital TV. There is however room for improvement. The food is delicious, but sometimes the restaurant personnel isn't very kind and too noisy. The big problem for my stay was the fact that my digital camera Nikon have been stolen from my room in the beginning of my stay. Its price was 1,000 euro and it was really bad experience that spoiled my stay. The camera was in its camera bag, in a backpack, on the luggage "table". When I looked for it 2 days after my arrival, because I was visiting Murcia the same day, the whole camera bag was missing, it was a shock for me. The reception staff didn't cooperate at all, they didn't do any investigation for the case and just said: "Go to the police if you want, its not our problem". The manager refused to talk with me. The biggest problem is that a 14-floor hotel with 4 stars dont have any security cameras on the floors, not in front of the lifts, nor in the corridors, which lead to the rooms. I believe this isn't normal in the 21st century, in the European Union. I don`t feel safe in a place, where anyone can do everything without consequences. Don`t visit it, if you care for your security and belongings!

This Hotel has been one of the biggest disappointments in my summer of travelling around Spain. Ive stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and this is certainly not 4* by any means and it's certainly very overpriced for what you get! On my arrival everything looked great in the reception area. Lovely and helpful reception staff. Nice lobby. Then I had to wait more than 5 minutes to get in a lift, this was to be the norm! Only 5 lifts to cater for the whole hotel (which is massive). I was travelling solo and had booked a double room. The room is tiny and fits just the double bed and a small fridge. It does have air conditioning and a separate bathroom. There is also a TV but don't expect to have any channels in English (not even news channel). My room 514 looked out onto the entertainment area. Not good at 12.30am if you want any sleep. Very noisy! I asked to change rooms and all I was offered was an even smaller room (hard to believe their was smaller but there was) in a different area of the hotel. Say NO WAY if you are offered this room unless you can sleep through anything! There is a large pool but is rammed full of children. Ok for a dip but you wouldn't want to be spending time there as it would bring on a migraine with the noise. Around the pool there are a number of sun loungers chained up. You have to pay 3 Euros to use them. I personally couldn't bare the nosie and mahem so I took myself to the beach each day for some peace and quite. The good thing is the Hotel is beach front to the La Manga. The bad - it's 4 Euros for a sun lounger and the Entertainment Team bring down a load of kids each day who shout and scream and play games. No getting away from the noise! The canteen (supposed restaurant) is carnage. You have to queue most of the time to get in then it's crazy trying to find a table. Most of the time when you find a table you need to clear away the dirty dishes from the previous dinners. Staff are running around mad trying to accommodate but there just isn't enough of them. It feels like there is literally 1000 Spanish kids running around too! I'm not going to lie - the food isn't great either. You won't go hungry but again NOT 4* quality. I am a teacher from London and all I wanted was a nice hotel and time to chill out. I got neither. If you are not Spanish or have a load of kids with you then this hotel is not for you. I only heard 2 other people speak English the whole 6 days I was there. This hotel is for Spanish families with young children.

First the + sides: - helpful and kind reception - perfect location at La Manga - best view ever! from 11th floor whit upscaled room. Looking over both Mar Menor & The Mediterranean sea. Just great!😃 - perfect beaches 🌊 - again: the view from the balcony !!! - clean rooms & nice staff. The bad sides: - the meals are like a noisy children's playground and a cheap cafeteria. This is the worst food place I have been to at a hotel. And you have to get in line to enter the resturant (if I can call it a resturant) The staff is making just as much noise as the large amount of small children, when cleaning the tables as fast as they can. The food is... average, off course a buffet. ☹️ - the room is simple, some accessories but not exactly upscale. Air conditioner working well, but it is a bit noisy when sitting on the balcony. - the evening entertainment is loud, seems like mostly for children ( we went as a couple 48 years old) - The lifts are very slow, be prepared to wait ( July 2017)

We're here right now and the location is perfect! ..pool is wonderful but getting a sunbed isn't so easy if you don't want to wander down at 8am. ..I'm not keen on going down and towelling sunbeds hours before needed but it's a struggle to get one unless you're prepared to do so. Food is very Spanish with little accommodation for us English but hey we always found something to eat. .room is clean and air con brilliant but no kettle. Our loo seat broke and once we told reception it was fixed within half an hour! !!...Maids work hard and we had our rooms cleaned with top ups of toiletries everyday. ..hundreds of Spanish children around the hotel and they are loud but controlled by the adults in the party successfully. ..all in all a good hotel but more 3 star than 4

If you want the real Spain this is the hotel. Not a hotel that serves up British food, it's Spanish. Hardly any English spoken but staff very friendly and will try their best. Remember you're in Spain. Room was fantastic on 7th floor with very good balcony, though the fact it was glass didn't help my vertigo at times. Everything comfortable and clean, with sachets for shower/hair in bathroom, which were replenished regularly. The shutters on our window broke and maintenance staff were sent up immediately to deal with it and did an excellent job. The restaurant, noisy as the Spanish can sound as if they're in a confrontation when they're just asking 'how are you'!!! The waitresses were excellent, they work very hard and deserve all the accolade they can get. Some more staff in restaurant would be good, both for waitresses and guests. Food very good, but I've lived in Spain and as stated previously it is Spanish food. During our 11 days there I only heard English spoken by two other couples. Position of hotel on beach was excellent, always ask for room facing thr Mar Menor. Large pool with plenty of sunbeds, which were charged at 3€ a day. Thought this was terrible, but I just used them without going to look for someone to pay and no one ever asked me for money. Very enjoyable holiday.

Stayed for 1 night for a stop over. Let's start by saying this is a very large hotel built in the 1960s and as such will never win any style awards. It does however offer simple clean accommodation at very good prices The communal areas are clean and tidy, the dining room is fine, just a little busy, the rooms are "classic" in style and are functional however I would'nt like to stay here for a summer holiday. We stayed half board and arrived late at around 10.30 pm the reception staff checked us in quickly and we where offered a cold buffet from the restaurant this was very welcome and even included a litre of red wine and a litre of water per table! My wife has a gluten and lactose intolerance and this was catered for with the cold dinner and at breakfast - at breakfast the gluten and dairy free selection provided was far better than many other Hotels we have stayed in. If you are looking for budget accommodation in a great location then no problem. Remember the Spanish rating system for stars is based around the facilities provided by the hotel and not necessarily the standard of furnishings. Probably 3 stars by UK standards, I would stay again for stop overs.

On entering this hotel you are met with a large reception area nicely decorated and friendly reception staff. The hotel is in an idyllic setting right by the beach - mar menor on one side and mediterranean sea on the other. Most rooms would have sea view. This is where the beauty ends. The room, although with superb sea view, was tired looking and dated. The bedspread was badly stained. The room, although clean looking, had horrible smell which was also in the bathroom and outside in the corridor - like sewerage. In the bathroom the shower had been fixed in the middle of the bath instead of at one end, so you only had the width of the bath for the water to spray. The only thing stopping it spraying over the bath onto the floor was a very flimsy thin pair of shower curtains. Considering it was hot and you tend to have more than one shower the only shower gel provided was two small sachets. The room and bathroom did not come up to the standard of 4*hotel! We asked if we could pay for upgraded room but we were told none available. Mealtimes were just horrendous and utter mayhem. There is no way you could have a relaxing lunch or dinner. Far too many people in one area. Staff were unable to cope with quantity of people. The noise level was deafening. It was worse than staff canteen. Tables with 4 chairs were only laid up for 2 place settings. When we tried to take place settings off another table a member of staff got angry and we were shown a corner of the room where we were expected to go and get 2 more place settings and lay up the table outselves - NOT 4*. After meal we were expected to take plates etc over to corner where we had to scrape clean plates and stack everything onto trolley - NOT 4* As the hotel had 14 floors - the rooms were served by 3 small lifts accommodating no more than 6 people at a time. It was not unusual to wait for at least 20 mins to use the lifts. Absolutely ridiculous. We were booked in for 3 nights we left after one night. This was an absolutely awful experience. Cannot believe all of the good reviews for this hotel - definitely NOT 4*.
