We were on a Western Bus Tour several years ago and stopped overnight at this hotel. Sorry I am late adding it to Trip Advisor, but a Friend is going out West & asked me about Hotels. I realized I had neglected to post my reviews. When I reviewed my notes I saw that we were very satisfied with this Hotel. Our check in and other services were excellent, the staff was pleasant & accommodating. Our Room & Bathroom was clean & comfortable. This hotel is also centrally located to many of the Tourist Attractions in the area. I have looked at your more recent pictures & they are as I remember. I am pleased to recommend this to my friend & hope his trip works out well.
We stayed here the last two nights right before they closed for the season. The room was clean. The breakfast was not really worth eating or fighting the small overcrowded room. There was only a handful of people eating. Just too crowded for me. Recommend breakfast somewhere else in town (Bakers Bakery & Cafe). I would stay here again.
This was our second time staying at this hotel and we were not disappointed. We came for the Buffalo Roundup and Crazy Horse Volksmarch and therefore spent several days in Custer. The staff at the hotel are all very helpful and friendly and the room we had was spotless. The only minor annoyance was the air conditioning/heater was mounted high on the wall and when on blew cold air on the beds. But, we were on the backside of the hotel (no street noise) so we just opened our window at night and were quite comfortable. Breakfast was good, standard hotel fare with plenty of options. Being located right downtown is a plus because it is then so easy to walk to any restaurants or shops one wants to visit. We will definitely stay here again when we are in Custer.
Arrived late after drive from Denver. Called hotel to ensure that they would still be open. Forgot the name of the Front Desk personnel. They assured us that our room was ready and waiting. The morning personnel gave us a discount for breakfast at the Bakers Bakery and Cafe, which was very good.
This hotel does not look like much but don't let that fool you. Stayed three nights here over the Buffalo Roundup and it worked great. They do have an indoor pool (not used) and just simple breakfast but not important to us, we had four people. No they don't have all the frills of bigger name hotels but you also dont have the price. Besides we don't spend that much time in the room, we are out and about. Room was clean and comfortable, air/heat worked good as well as TV. Bathroom was small but the shower worked great. The staff kept the room clean and was very friendly. We had no issues. I would not hesitate to stay here again. It is central to all the attractions.
We stayed three nights here and found it to be perfectly adequate and a good value for our money. The people at the reception desk were extremely helpful and friendly. The room had most of the amenities you could want. One of my pet peeves are cheap plastic toilet seats. The one in our room moved to the side when you sat on it, very annoying.
We were in Custer as home base for travels to see the eclipse, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, and Badlands National Park. It's a great little town and makes it easy to get all of these places. The Econo Lodge is on the main drag and has great places to eat and shop in short walking distance. The staff here was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and what I would expect for an economy motel. My main gripe was that the beds might possibly be the hardest I've ever slept on, which made sleeping kinda rough. But it was a good value considering the other amenities and the price.
Great staff, clean rooms, nice location. Evening clerk Davidson was so helpful and friendly. Easy walk to local shops and restaurants. Custer is great location for visiting several national and state parks. After a bad experience at the Wall,SD Econolodge we have renewed faith in this chain after staying here.
Has an indoor pool, not huge, but big enough to relax in. Fridge came in handy. The cold water is Cold, and the hot water gets Hot fast. Has a fan in bathroom, which is a plus. Ladies in the front were very helpful as to suggestions on restaurants and directions. Sufficient parking. Has an entrance on a side road too. Motel is on the main street and everything is within easy walking distance, including Bobkat's Purple Pie Place !
