This place is isolated but not a real problem if you have a car. Only 15mins to Methven and/ or bottom car park to Mt Hutt ski area access road. We had a villa that was superb. Everything we needed, comfortable, clean and warm. Awesome view of the mountains from the lounge. We dined in the restaurant on the first night. Not cheap, but the meal was very good. We both had the lamb rack and it was magnificent. We dined in Methven the next two nights after skiing at Mt Hutt. Room rate was probably more than we normally spend, but it was worth the money in our view... staff were friendly and welcoming. We had no complaints.
Terrace Downs was all I expected and more. They have local and close by activities, state of the art design of the villas, and excellence in service. I cannot recommend Terrace Downs highly enough and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
we had a great stay although the Club house felt a little run down and the food was average. We had one of the apartments which was well appointed and clean with a great outlook. If we go back we will not eat on site as Methven is only a short drive away and has some great food. Maybe best to take your own breakfast and room had a well appointed kitchen.
We stayed in a 4 bedroom Chalet which overlooked the mountains. We were thoroughly impressed with the resort, only downfall was the Wifi which did not work. Hopefully they can get that fixed! Would definetley recomend staying here if your looking for a laid back holiday.
We escaped here for the weekend for our 10th wedding anniversary. We had high expectations of the place as its reviews and reputation preceded our booking. The place certainly didn't let our expectations down. The welcome from the receptionist when we arrived was warm and inviting and very professional, and the directions to our villa were accurate and detailed. We were blown away when we got to the room, it was beautiful, and the views were to die for, as shown in the photos. It was warm (needed when the morning temp was minus 5) and exceedingly comfortable. The only downside was the meal on Friday night in the restaurant. The food was average for the price (the mains were $40) and the sauces were cold. The biggest downside was the constant interruptions of the staff while we were trying to talk. I don't think they needed to ask how the food was every 5 minutes, or to ask us if we wanted more water or wine, especially when they could see we were talking... We decided to get supplies during our Saturday outing so that we didn't have to experience the same level of "over service" again. One highlight for me was watching guest be picked up by helicopter on the Saturday morning to go heliskiing. What a sight! All in all, it was a fantastic weekend that I'd recommend to anyone. Well worth (most) of the money.
As much as we enjoyed our experience at Terrace Downs we did feel that the room was a little tired. First impression was good but the gloss soon dulled after noting a few things. Felt there was a few things that needed attention.
great family downtime and experience for my children to absorb the enviroment and try new activities that we would normally not have tried. we stayed in the 2 bedroom villa it was spacious and family friendly it flowed really well and everyone had ample space to rest and relax
We had a lovely time except I missed out on a spa treatment ... it's closed for refurbishment... and we couldn't eat in the restaurant because of a wedding which we were told about u when we booked ... if there is a wedding when you are there I recommend room service coz there is no sound proofing between the venue and the 'cafe' where we ate. On the plus side the rooms were very lovely and the views of the morning sun on the mountains was stunning!!!
Beautiful location. Great room, immaculate presentation, but the slated wall is not great as bedroom side lights up like a Xmas tree when bathroom is used. Also able to see through the slats into the bathroom. Appreciated the room service at night. Would like to see some lighter meals on the night time main menus.
Fully equipped modern kitchen and laundry. Beautiful view of Mt Hutt. Great scenery when driving up to Mt Hutt. There was a heavy snow when we stayed here and the feeling of magical wintertime - we couldn't stop taking pictures and recording.
