My sister and I planned a last minute and much needed get away. We were blown away with the scenery. Our room was beautiful. The staff were all helpful and friendly. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant. The breakfast in the cafe was a bit average but still ok. Overall, we had such a nice time and really can't wait to go back!!

Awesome venue. We had a great room with a fantastic bed and a big spacious bathroom. The meals were very nice although a little small. All in all this was a great experience. Would recommend Terrace Downs to anyone

Great views from the room, extremely comfy beds which meant for a great sleep. The food was great! Lovely weekend away with great service from all the staff. Will definitely be back for another round of golf or two in the future.

I can not recommend Terrace Downs enough, the view of the resort and the mountains is Devine. The food was so mouth watering and very tasty, the staff are very pleasant and friendly. We had a the most relaxing time it was amazing

A great place to unwind, impeccable views paired with a great room and even better service. Well worth the drive from Christchurch, would happily stay again. Restaurant is also fantastic with amazing food! Thank you

My partner and I are both busy Christchurch professionals who rarely have opportunities to take a break away together, so you can only imagine how much we were both looking forward to a much needed relaxing break at Terrace Downs. Unfortunately this feeling rapidly disappeared! We checked into our 1st floor villa at just after 3 as requested and were happy with the layout of the spacious rooms, with the only point of note being the multitude of nail scratch marks running down the leather headboard (can only image how they got there!). We unpacked then decided to head to the bar for a drink and snack, where we were greeted by a friendly and professional barman/waiter. We walked back to our room at approximately 5:30 where we could see that the room above was occupied by the lights now being on. Once in we switched on the TV and settled ourselves in to watch the Rugby. Initially we thought the loud music was radiating from the match so we muted the volume only to discover it was in fact blasting down from the floor above! We hoped this would pass once the song had finished however it was only to get worse, with the next tracks being turned up to the extent that the walls were now vibrating with the bass! It was so loud in fact that it was pointless to attempt to turn the rugby volume louder to compensate. We read through the information sheet given to us when we checked in the hope of the front desk being able to call the occupants of the room above and ask them to be more considerate of other guests. Unfortunately we discovered that Terrace Downs don't have anyone manning the reception after hours, however they did provide an emergency contact number for the staff member who was 'on call'. We were surprise to find that this number was not answered (possibly the Lions rugby game was to blame?), so after a period of time we called the restaurant where the barman/waiter was helpful and said that he would speak to his manager. After not hearing back for 30 minutes and with the music still roaring away, we again attempted the 'emergency' number and yet again there was no response except eventually being switched over to Brett's voicemail. Thankfully this call was not life or death! On second call to the restaurant we learnt that the staff were powerless to do anything as the occupants in the room above our villa were owners and therefore dealing with them was not straightforward and that like us the restaurant staff were having no joy in contacting the duty personnel. Sometime between 9:45 and 10 we heard a staff member knock on the upstairs door and how they were swiftly engaged in a verbal altercation with the owners, within a matter of seconds the door was slammed shut and the music eventually turned down. Sadly the perpetrator felt the need to continually stamp on our bedroom ceiling as a way of no doubt thanking us for ruining his party! The next morning after a night of limited sleep and little relaxation we received a message from one of the managers at 7am who wanted to discuss this incident further, we replied saying that we would come down to reception that morning. When we arrived at reception we were told by the lady manning the front desk the Chris her manager was leave however she knew who we were and what had happened. We were then asked what they could do to help fix the problem? however we'd have thought in the time that had passed that Management would have already instructed her what to offer us, more shocked were we that this conversation was taking place around other guests who were seated behind us, which resulted in the resorts golf coach/manager? (he never actually introduced himself or his role) joining our private conversation! When my partner suggested at the very least we weren't paying for the nights accommodation this was rejected by the resort staff saying that they couldn't make that call! Well who could and why hadn't they already made it seeing the amount of time that had now lapsed! After saying that we had no intention of going back to that room we were offered another villa, however by this time we were fuming having now wasted so much of our holiday due to such poor service and we decide to head into Methven for a coffee just to get away from the place and to think what to do next. Before we left we were told that the duty staff would make some calls to see what could be done for us and give us a call. After finishing our breakfasts/drinks in Methven and still not having heard anything from Terrace Downs we called them and said we would not be returning for our second night and as far as we were concerned the holiday was ruined and opted to return to Christchurch to de-stress in a more controlled environment. The reception manager finally contacted us by phone on Tuesday, some 2 days since the incident took place, where he said that he had headed back to Terrace Downs to talk with us only when he arrived we had already left (we hadn't known that he was on his way back as communication was again lacking). Again, when questioned about payment he said that needed to speak to Expedia first. However surely he could have confirmed that Terrace Downs themselves would cover the cost. What wasn't addressed and is still yet to be so is the additional time and money that we put into planning this break, from fuel expenses to the cost of placing our dogs into kennels or the fact that the next time we will now be able to attempt another de-stressing break is not until we see the WOW show in September!

Wedding anniversary treat to our selves and although weather not the best resort amenities, food and service made it a special occasion for us so thank you to Terrace Downs for this when we can we would love to return.

Warm sunny large rooms with gas fire overlooking majestic Mount Hutt. Large bathroom with spa, and excellent heating. Very homely kitchen with plenty of space and utensils etc., Short easy walk to main building for buffet breakfast with lots of variety eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, tomatoes etc.,

Awesome place and awesome service, staff had very thing under control, house was just amazing, great place to have a weekend with friends and family. Lunch on Sunday was great valve for money and great menu.

It was an amazing place to stay, I would certainly recommend Terrace Downs to anyone we know. The room was lovely and warm on arrival and has a great view, the food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly.
