I spent 1 night at the Mercure Hotel for a business trip. At check in time the receptionist was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast is nice and the location just next to the station is perfect! The room was also nice but could be improved with shampoo and hair conditioner. I also noticed a really bad sewer smell in the corridors at the 3rd floor and in the sink. Good price/performance ratio.

Even with 3 people we had enough space to move around with the extra bed. Also we had a chair with food rest for relaxing. The room was clean and had everything you need. Coffe maker and hot water kattle for tea etc. Only the bathroom need a renovation. The reception ladies have been friendly. The hotel is some steps from the shopping aerea. Very convenient. Not the last time staying there. For dogs owner its very easy to walk them at the river Mosel.

Rented two rooms for several nights for visiting family. The staff were really very kind and helpful. A+ After that it was not the best. Rooms were ok, but new renovations were superficial and sloppily done. E.g new carpet and new headboard for the bed, but in the bathroom simply a coat of paint slapped on over crumbling old paint. Renovations ongoing and noisy/ inconvenient. The worst was the strong sewer gas smell. The lobby smelled all the time. Inside the rooms ok, but when you open the window to the interior courtyard the smell was so strong we had to close the window again. Not at all the standard I have come to expect from Mercure. I would have given 2 stars but the staff were so very kind that I feel generous and gave 3.

The hotel was worn down and in renovation. We where a family, and offered connecting rooms. Reception forgot to tell us Aircondition was broken and windows facing a street with traffic and noise all night - Did not sleep and had to drive 12 hours next day.

It is a typical European hotel. Breakfast was €€ pricey. No air and during a heat wave was very uncomfortable due to all the bars around and parking lot noise. Has changed a lot since I was there last about 7 years ago. The staff not as friendly and they would not admit to knowing any English. Too bad since the last time the staff was so wonderful.

We stayed for 2 nights at the mercure and although staff was helpful and accommodating, unfortunately the rooms need urgent renovations are they are very outdated. Peeling paint, broken locks, carpet stains and to highlight the need for repairs, the air conditioning in the whole building was broken for the 2 days we stayed in. If you need a hotel for a short stay in Thionville, it's OK but don't expect much.

Recently passed 2 nights here. Location is very center, quiet and clean. There are not too many choice in Thionville. I would not give a 4 star rating, somewhere between 21/2 and 3. The restaurant was closed and we did not take breakfast.

The French hotel classification system will forever remain a mystery to me. This hotel boasts four stars when it's a three star at best. It's clean, quiet and the staff is friendly, at least by French standards :). Rooms sparely furnished, few amenities in bathroom. WiFi was so slow in my room, it was useless, some pages didn't build up at all. The breakfast buffet is just a bad joke; I've rarely seen such poor choice. The coffee machine was broken, there was lukewarm drip coffee sitting in a thermos flask. Hot water for tea was not available. I didn't have a chance to ask anyway because there was nobody around. Dirty tables were not cleaned. I paid 104 euros for 1 night + breakfast, which is not my idea of a good deal. Never again.

I decided to give two points because breakfast and staff were okay. Room wasn't worth two points! I have to state that clearly - I stay in hotels 40 to 50 nights per year and this was my last stay at mercure. Worn out carpets, mould and dirt around the window, dirt on the boards and walls. It was disgusting and I decided to cancel the remaining stay there. And the black dust comes directly out of the air condition. I could have complained but would they paint and refurbish the room at 8 p.m. for me? It is not that somebody might have forgotten to clean - it's just all shabby and worn out. If they have better rooms why do they give this one to anybody?

The hotel itself is okay but more Ibis than Mercure. The rooms are small and sparsely furnished. The location is very convenient with a car park close by. The lady at the reception was nice and helpful. Breakfast however was unbelievable. A bored waitress war reading a magazine and the tables had been cleared but not cleaned. The water bottle was opened and could't be because there was no bottle opener. The waitress' reaction was to go and never return. Can it be an issue in a 3 stars hotel to find a bottle opener? Eggs were gone at 09.30 and not replenished. Breakfast is15 Euros!
