Rooms are in bad shape. AC didn’t work. I will never book at this hotel.

We have been going to Hotel Virrey De Mendoza for 30 years. It is still a big favorite with us for the staff, decor, cleanliness and the magnificent lobby. They have also been remodeling the rooms over the last couple of years with a stunning improvement to the bathrooms especially the showers. But they seem to be losing a little bit of the attention to detail that we prized in past visits. Our room, #109, had no toilet paper dispenser and the safety latch guard on the hotel room door was broken off and had not been replaced. One note concerning the bathroom reservations is that the tile used in the new showers has to be some of the slipperiest know to man. The hotel provised a small rubber mat but the showers are big enough that the hotel guest must still navegate two or three treacherous steps in exiting the shower. Much larger mats would be an incomparable safety improvement and very much appreciated by all I am sure.

It was a wonderful stay, but there is no air conditioning and we had to sleep with our windows open, which allowed mosquitos and other insects in. Maybe they could put screens to keep these out. The ceiling fan was not enough to keep us comfortable at night. Maybe another fan would probably help. Other than that, everything else was wonderful. The service, food and all the personnel were wonderful. We were well attended by all involved. I loved having the piano player playing that wonderful music during breakfast and dinner. This put the topping on the cake.

Great hotel, with excellent location, close to everything from museums to markets to points o interest. The service was great from the check in to the restaurants, we had breakfast included but order from the regular menu as well and the food was full of flavor and tasted fresh and well seasoned. Our room was a little noisy because faced the main street but nothing out of control The hotel in its totality is beautiful and the decor and rooms are great. The staff gave us a 5 star treatment and I will recommend this hotel to all my friends.

This is our second stay within the last two years. The lobby is grand and elegant, but rooms were small, tired and run down for the money. There was a lot of street noise that kept waking us up at night.

The hotel is right on the main square and definitely in the best in-town location. There are a number of good hotels on the square that share the same privileged location. I know the hotel was not very busy and while the room had a classy historic feel, there were so many disappointments that I don't know how they could put me there. First, the bathroom floor had numerous hairs on it- black, red, short, long... That's kind of gross. It's a small bathroom and would probably take a minute to sweep the floor. Second, the room was TINY! NYC small. Third, the window opened to a ventilation shaft so nearly no light came into the room. I needed the lights on during the day. Also while I was not on the ground floor, the shaft ended on my level, so I couldn't leave the window open because anyone could have walked out of another window and into my room. Fourth, I was right next to the housekeeping room, so there was tons of noise due to carts moving/loading, and talking. Fifth, there was no AC and it was hot outside. Sixth, no clock and/or alarm clock radio. So why put me in such a bad room? I can not recommend this hotel and would suggest looking into one of the other hotels on the square. Good luck here.
